'Evil Dead Burn's Best Easter Egg Is Hiding In Plain Sight
Evil Dead Burn (2026) is yet another entry in the decades-long horror franchise and continues the trend of utilizing one of the three Necronomicones found in Army of Darkness (1992). However, this film doesn’t outwardly show which one is being utilized to unleash terror on a mourning family.
That said, eagle-eyed fans have pointed out, and we’ve confirmed, that what makes up this unique version of the Necronomicon seems to borrow from the black sheep of the series, Evil Dead (2013). If so, it could mean the scares, blood, and violence will be ramped up even more than anyone expects.
What Does The Necornomicon Look Like In 'Evil Dead Burn'?

The Evil Dead franchise has never had one distinct look for its Necronomicon. That said, the book in Evil Dead Burn is even more unique in that it doesn’t appear to be one at all. Instead, it seems to be a scrapbook of at least one book, and the book in question appears to be the one from Evil Dead (2013).
Many pages seem to iron out rituals and phrases that are reminiscent of the requel from over a decade ago. Beyond that, there’s even a sketch that fans have pointed out that looks exactly like the stitched-together one from Evil Dead (2013). There were also newspaper snippets talking about a cabin burning down, which coincides with the events of the 2013 film.
It leads to the idea that this pseudo-book of the dead was made by someone fascinated with the Necronomicon and its history, which was unfortunately unleashed on an unsuspecting family. But if that’s true, the book used in Evil Dead Burn is the most evil book of them all.
There Have Always Been Three Necronomicons

While the franchise started with only one Book of the Dead, Army of Darkness revealed there were actually three Necronomicon, and Evil Dead Rise (2023) confirmed that they are three distinct books. Though they haven’t been seen together in some time, there appear to be three distinct terrors that come with each one.
The original Necronomicon from The Evil Dead (1981) aimed to terrorize its victims, driving them mad and hurting them before ultimately claiming their souls. The one in Evil Dead Rise, which was awakened by a reading from a vinyl, only opened when blood touched it. The terrors within lean more into cosmic horror and body horror as well, with victims coughing up worms or combining into a sentient mass.
Evil Dead (2013), however, always seemed the most evil. Those possessed by the evil from this book didn’t waste time on teasing, terror, or monsters. Instead, it was a violent possession story through and through. Those possessed aimed to horrify their victims through self-inflicted injuries, crude comments, and ultimately claiming souls to unleash a world-ending abomination.
'Evil Dead Burn's Chaos Looks Reminiscent of 2013's 'Evil Dead'

There’s not much revealed about what the Necronomicon is in Evil Dead Burn or what it’s made up of. Still, the trailers have given us a very clear look at what it could be. The chaos of the film seems more about hurting people and themselves in ways similar to Evil Dead (2013), from drinking candle wax to bouncing on someone who fell onto knives in a dishwasher.
The humor seen in past films is also toned down, instead aiming to make the victims uncomfortable by pushing a car headrest out of a Deadite’s mouth or beating up its victims. All in all, these Deadites mean business in a way that hasn’t been seen in 13 years. But it’s the smaller scenes in the trailers that drive this theory home.
For brief moments, it seems the house Evil Dead Burn is set in catches on fire, and a Deadite, seemingly charred, walks out of the flames. In many ways, it feels familiar to the abominations that emerged from the Earth as the skies rained blood in Evil Dead (2013). There’s an oddly satanic angle that was only seen in the 2013 film that seems to be back again in this movie. If so, it could make Evil Dead Burn one of the most violent films in the franchise.
