Evil Dead Burn (2026) marks a new entry in the beloved horror franchise that does away with its slapstick humor and instead focuses more on brutality and a deeper look at the lore in the series. But its biggest mystery and surprise came in its post-credits scene with a simple name: Christopher Leroy.

When it comes to humans in the Evil Dead franchise, most names don't get remembered because they are often just Deadite fodder. More than that, the only names that are remembered are often due to story significance above all else, like Ash Williams. But Christopher Leroy brings more mystery than anything else.

Christopher Leroy's Name Is Overshadowed In 'Evil Dead Burn'

Evil Dead Burn gave us a lot of information about the Necronomicon and the Kandarian Dagger, while also introducing the Circle of the Wise Men as a new secret society created to prevent people from using the Book of the Dead. But its post-credits scene was possibly the most interesting part of the film.

In the funeral home that we saw during Will's services, the owner took her daughter to work because she was short-staffed, where she examined a wall of unclaimed urns. The first name the girl saw was Christopher Leroy, and the second was Ellie Bixler, the iconic mother Deadite from Evil Dead Rise (2023).

Before we could process the first name, the spirit of Ellie returned as her Deadite form, killed the little girl, and proclaimed her return before cutting to black. This created major excitement among the fanbase, as Ellie is one of the most beloved Deadites. Still, it unfortunately overshadowed Christopher Leroy's name and the mystery around him that could be uncovered in the future.

Where Could Christopher Leroy Debut After 'Evil Dead Burn?'

When looking back at the many faces that have appeared in the Evil Dead franchise Chirstpher Leroy isn't a character who has appeared before. But if he's just a random name, then why was he mentioned? The only logical reason this could have happened is that he will have some significance in Evil Dead Wrath (2028).

We don't know everything that's going to happen in Evil Dead Wrath, but we do know the film will be set before The Evil Dead (1981). With that established, it also opens many doors to finally get some answers about what's going on. For example, who are the Circle of the Wise Men? Will the Knowbys be tied to the film? But more importantly, who is Christopher Leroy?

If this is a character who will appear in the prequel, the urn would lead us to assume he will die in the movie. But that's not always the case. Maybe he survives and lives in fear of the Evil, like Benjamin Price, or maybe he never got close to anyone to keep him safe—nevertheless, there's a strong chance that he could be an important character in the Evil Dead franchise.

What Makes the Christopher Leroy Name So Important In 'Evil Dead'

Deadite Henrietta looks away from Ash as he looks at her in terror

We don't know a thing about Christopher Leroy aside from the fact that his name is on an urn. But in the world of Evil Dead, names really don't matter. The only names that have ever really stood out are either Ash Williams, because he's the face of the series, or Mia from Evil Dead (2013). Of course, there are the Knowbys, the owners of the original cabin, and Ellie, a more recent Deadite.

But other than that, the many names that have come since the first film aren't nearly as memorable because they die long before they get a chance to stick. Only longtime fans will know names like Cheryl or Linda, and that's why Christopher Leroy is so important.

The Evil Dead franchise has never name-dropped a character before their appearance, and that alone is strange. Naming him shouldn't matter, but in a series where names are redundant, it's hard not to take it seriously. As a result, Evil Dead Burn may be on the cusp of introducing a character who is incredibly important. He may not be Ash Williams, but he's definitely someone worth teasing and could be the reason the past 40-plus years have happened.

After her husband's abrupt death, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws. As they transform into Deadites one by one, she comes to discover that the vows she took in life survive even in death.
