The 2026 Oscars Winners List: Where To Watch Every Major Award-Winning Movie
The 2026 Oscars are finally here, and the wait is over. It's been a taxing award season, with plenty of chatter surrounding most stars and all categories, dividing critics and fans in all sorts of wild directions. Understandably, some winners will be totally expected based on how award season has progressed throughout the year, while knowing just how these ceremonies go, we may be in for a number of surprises as well.
And now, without further ado, here are the winners of the 97th Academy Awards, as well as where you can stream these movies on platforms such as Prime Video, Hulu, and more.
Best Picture
WINNER: One Battle After Another
The Best Picture contenders this year were full of incredible movies, varying in genres that felt monumental in a lot of ways. There are always debates about how this can go, and people rightfully have their opinions, but 2026 could've been an exceptional year for challenging the norms and delivering wins that do something wholly unique.
While One Battle After Another is a great film, it's not an excellent one, nor is it exactly unique in the same vein that some of the stories in this category are, like Sinners or even The Secret Agent. Still, it's a great night for Paul Thomas Anderson and the actors to celebrate their sweeping success. One Battle After Another might not be for every viewer, but it's a solid hit regardless.
Runner Ups
Best Actor in a Leading Role
WINNER: Michael B. Jordan Sinners
It's a significant challenge to play one role with excellent layers and range, but it's a completely different ballpark to play two characters in one feature and do such an exemplary job that it leaves people speechless. Michael B. Jordan deservedly takes home the Oscar for Best Actor, and of all the awards this year, this one feels especially emotional.
Sinners is revolutionary as a film, and Jordan's win is the kind of rare and deserved treat that makes it feel like the academy is well on its way toward truly recognizing greats. The indescribable performance that Jordan brings to life in Sinners is something we're going to talk about for years to come and use as an example of excellence.
Runner Ups
Timothée Chalamet Marty Supreme
Leonardo DiCaprio One Battle After Another
Ethan Hawke Blue Moon
Wagner Moura The Secret Agent
Best Actress in a Leading Role
WINNER: Jessie Buckley Hamnet
The moment most of us wiped away our tears after watching Hamnet, we knew that if there was any good left in the world, then Jessie Buckley would take home the Oscar, and thankfully, she does. Buckley's performance is a raw, breathtaking, and utterly haunting showcase of grief that's stayed with us for months and will likely never leave us.
From the first frame we see her in to the last, Buckley brings to life a wide range of emotions that are so innately evocative, you don't have to be a mother to feel the love and pain she conveys simultaneously. Few performances are this perfect, but Jessie Buckley's work in Hamnet is generational—the best performance of the decade.
Runner Ups
Rose Byrne If I Had Legs I'd Kick You
Kate Hudson Song Sung Blue
Renate Reinsve Sentimental Value
Emma Stone Bugonia
Best International Feature Film
WINNER: Sentimental Value
With exceptional movies in the race, Sentimental Value deservedly takes home the award for Best International Feature. Emotionally compelling, heartrending, and honest in its approach to weave filmmaking with complex family dynamics, Sentimental Value is a quiet feast in more ways than one.
It isn't an easy movie to watch if you're familiar with convoluted family dynamics, but it's beautiful in its means of unraveling the difficult emotions that come with the complications. Full of stunning performances from the whole cast, it's the kind of movie that stays with you long after the credits roll. It's quiet where it needs to be, but the sparks that come from louder moments are rich with nuance, too.
Runner Ups
The Secret Agent
Best Actor in a Supporting Role
WINNER: Sean Penn One Battle After Another
The Best Supporting Actor category comes with a surprise as Sean Penn wins the award for One Battle After Another. This is the second award the film takes home, as it was also the recipient of the first-ever Best Casting award. With that, it makes total sense that one of the actors from the film would also win in their respective categories.
Penn delivers a great performance, but for those who might've seen him in other films, you might see some similarities in the type of character he embodies. Still, it's a solid win, and one he was also absent for and couldn't accept.
Runners Up
Benicio del Toro One Battle After Another
Jacob Elordi Frankenstein
Delroy Lindo Sinners
Stellan Skarsgård Sentimental Value
Best Actress in a Supporting Role
WINNER: Amy Madigan Weapons
The first award of the night delivers a big win for the horror genre, with Amy Madigan taking home the award for Best Supporting Actor for her role as Gladys in Weapons. Madigan's transformation is not only evident through makeup, but her physicality and the body of work she brought to life to create a terrifying character is no small feat.
Madigan's performance was not only exceptional, but it's also an incredible showcase to reveal just how much work goes into horror as a genre for it to feel evocative. Madigan also delivered a thoughtful and endearing acceptance speech, which ultimately makes the win feel even more earned.
Runners Up
Wunmi Mosaku Sinners
Teyana Taylor One Battle After Another
Elle Fanning Sentimental Value
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas Sentimental Value
Best Animated Feature Film
WINNER: KPop Demon Hunters
K-Pop Demon Hunters took the world by storm in the summer as it aired, filling our entire homes, cars, and wherever there's music with the catchiest tunes. It's been a sensational year for animated features, but K-Pop Demon Hunters taking home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature is proof of the fact that people want original stories.
The film took years to develop, and the work that directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans put into creating something thoroughly special is also a reminder that greatness takes time. Bright, beautiful, and brimming with a compelling message centered around agency and cultural significance, the win is a tremendous accomplishment in more ways than one, making it a must-watch for every film fan.
Best Director
WINNER: Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another
Paul Thomas Anderson wins his first-ever Best Director award for One Battle After Another. The award is a long time coming for Anderson, who's worked incredibly hard for the recognition. While there were a number of tremendous nominees this year, Anderson's win feels worthy.
A large part of the appeal in One Battle After Another is indeed Anderson's directing and everything he's done to create a film that's a visual treat. Rich with depth, astute pacing, and a thoughtful understanding of the craft, it's most evident in this movie of all his work in the past. The film might not be for everyone, but Anderson's work surely deserves the recognition.
Runner Ups
Chloé Zhao Hamnet
Josh Safdie Marty Supreme
Joachim Trier Sentimental Value
Ryan Coogler Sinners
Best Original Screenplay
WINNER: Ryan Coogler Sinners
Ryan Coogler takes home the award for Best Original Screenplay for his sensational and profoundly memorable work in Sinners, and all is well in the world for a moment. The heart and soul of Sinners is sprinkled into every page of the screenplay, making this a win that's undeniably worthy.
Coogler's talents as a writer shine in ensuring that his words make us want to learn more. From complex character building to astute pacing in the narrative, this is the one movie that I ran to do more research for after finishing, because you simply can't get enough. The win is not only much deserved but it feels historic in more ways than one.
Runners Up
Blue Moon
It Was Just an Accident
Marty Supreme
Sentimental Value
Best Adapted Screenplay
WINNER: Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another
Paul Thomas Anderson takes home the award for Best Adapted Screenplay for One Battle After Another, making this the third win for the film so far. Anderson also won the award at the Writers' Guild Awards, so it was almost expected that he had it in the bag for the Oscars.
Anderson's words are a tremendous part of the film's success, and everything that he manages to bring to life ensures the characters are compelling. Adapting a screenplay from its source material is incredibly complex, and this year, especially, the category was full of some sensational adaptations. Ultimately, whoever would win, it would've been great, but it's another solid showcase for Anderson.
