Gissane (pronounced geese-enny) is a romance enthusiast who's taken her Master's degree in English and love for essays into writing lengthy analyses about pop culture. She is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Lady Geeks Media. She's a Tomatometer-Approved critic. When she isn't writing about pop culture, she can be found writing and reading romance novels.

Experience and Education

While completing her Bachelor’s in creative writing and Master’s in English literature, Gissane has been working in the industry for over ten years, covering a wide range of TV shows and movies, while writing romance novels since the pandemic began. Formerly, Gissane was the lead TV editor at CBR, and now, along with JustWatch, she contributes to Fangirlish. 

Favorite Movies and TV Shows

Picking a favorite movie or a TV show is always the hardest, but classics like Roman Holiday, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Moulin Rouge are a huge reason for the type of critic Gissane has chosen to become. She’ll often vocalize that Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is better than the original, and Pride and Prejudice (2005) is essential viewing for all, not just romance fans. As for TV shows, Ted Lasso will always hold a special place in her heart as well as Parks and Recreation. She’s also a big fan of most Star Wars properties (Obi-Wan Kenobi, in particular) and will run far, far away from horror because she’s too scared.
