Who Is Jocasta? ’VisionQuest’s New Android, Explained
VisionQuest (2026) is the final part of a trilogy that started with WandaVision (2021) and has already built an incredible amount of buzz over what the show could introduce.
One of the biggest surprises and additions, aside from the return of Tommy Maximoff, is the confirmation that Jocasta will make an appearance. As of now, many Marvel Cinematic Universe fans may not know who Jocasta is, but her comics history is just as interesting as her creator, Ultron. What this could mean for the future of the MCU is equally mysterious, but still exciting all the same.
Who Is Jocasta In The Marvel Universe?

Ultron was Hank Pym’s creation who, over time, grew into the threat that we all know him as today. He started as an AI that helped Pym until it gained sentience and sought to end the world, specifically the Avengers. Since then, keeping him down has been a nearly impossible task.
That said, being patterned off of human minds, Ultron eventually wanted a mate and, by patterning her off of the brainwaves of the Wasp, Jocasta was born. Initially, she sided with Ultron and shared a similar look to him, aside from a feminine figure and human face, but she eventually began to question her place.
In doing so, Jocasta quickly became a hero and worked alongside the Avengers. While her time on the team didn't last, her impact was felt among many other heroes and made her an integral part of the team for a time. Being an android, like Vision, the fact that she could fight Ultron's programming and be a hero made her a unique addition, while also reflecting the yearning Ultron felt, even if he was an enemy.
Could Jocasta Have A Bright Future In The MCU?
With VisionQuest, the unfortunate reality is that we don't know yet about how she came to be or what she will be to Vision and Ultron. Having seen a clip where she is fighting Vision, they are clearly at odds for a reason, and it could be because she's on Ultron's side. However, it could also be that she wants to stop being the thing that is keeping a part of Ultron alive.
Nevertheless, seeing her in the show is a great confirmation that Vision's strange family tree will continue to grow, and with Jocasta, we will get a good version of Ultron that shows how complex the villain always was, even if Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) didn't show it.
Right now, the only concern is that Jocasta could face the same fate as some of the other MCU characters. With so many projects, characters like Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Hercules, and Ironheart have all been pushed to the back burner. Jocasta is an interesting character that doesn't deserve the same treatment, and by bringing her into this show, the hope is that she's here to stay. With the landscape of the MCU changing, it's important to have unique characters, and no character will likely be as unique as Jocasta.
