VisionQuest (2026) is coming to Disney+ on October 14th and marks the end of a trilogy that began with WandaVision (2021). While this series connects most closely to VisionQuest, it's not the only one, since Agatha All Along (2024) came out between the two.

Agatha All Along is the most removed from VisionQuest, especially in aesthetic, as it leaned heavily on Agatha's story and witchcraft as a whole. However, there are elements of the ending of this series that sets up the future of the Wanda and Vision family tree and how it impacts the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what happened in Agatha All Along to change VisionQuest?

Agatha and Her Coven Reached the End of the Witches’ Road

Death from Agatha All Along

Agatha All Along was all about Agatha Harkness trying to get her powers back. Alongside a coven of witches who hate her and a mysterious, powerful teen, she embarks on the Witches’ Road. It's said that those who reach the end will get their deepest desire. Unfortunately, what the witches get is a lot of death.

During the final trial, Agatha decides to help the teen, who is revealed to be Billy Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch's son whose soul found a vessel just as its previous inhabitant died. In a big effort to help him, Agatha aided Billy in finding his brother, though it's heavily implied he simply took Tommy's soul and pushed it into another body where that person had died.

Agatha, all alone, tried to create life in a morgue to escape the final trial and grew a leaf. As she escaped, she had a final battle with Death alongside Billy, who had embraced his Wiccan persona. Rather than fighting against a force of nature, the episode ended with Agatha sacrificing herself and Billy realizing he had created the Witches’ Road using his reality-warping powers without realizing it.

We Learn the Truth of the Witches’ Road and Agatha’s Sacrifice

Agatha and Billy in Agatha All Along

In the final episode of Agatha All Along, we are shown the origin of what happened to Agatha's son and how she maintained her powers and gained a negative reputation. Death knew that Nicholas Scratch wouldn't survive, but she let Agatha be with her son, promising that one day she would eventually come for him.

In that time, Agatha raised her son and siphoned off the powers of witch covens to survive, and through a simple song they made together, the myth of the Witches’ Road was born. Agatha used the song she and her son created to lure in covens with the promise of a great prize before she would kill them. They had a great system until one day, Nicholas was taken by Death in Agatha's sleep.

From then on, Agatha continued her tradition for years, building the myth and killing witches to stay alive, while also avoiding Death for what she took from her. However, when she died, she didn't cross over and instead remained a ghost that haunted Billy. With Billy angry at her past actions, he tried to banish her, only to realize she was too scared to face her son after being gone so long.

Billy and Agatha stay together with a new mission of trying to find his brother, no matter what it takes. This marked the end of a surprisingly deep show about sacrifice, motherhood, and the cost of doing wrong, and remains one of the MCU's most profound projects.

How Does ‘Agatha All Along’ Connect to ‘VisionQuest’?

When comparing Agatha All Along and VisionQuest, they couldn't be further from one another. One series is focused more on magic, while the other is focused on tech; one is about motherhood, the other is about fatherhood. The ideas and themes being separate are what make the shows so unique. However, Agatha All Along does still connect to the final entry in some ways.

The most obvious connection is that Tommy Maximoff will be in VisionQuest. This gives Vision a chance to try and be a dad to a son he never truly knew and also gives Billy and Agatha a destination to reach in trying to find his long-lost brother. Whether this ends with a family reunion is unknown, but it does open the door for opportunity.

For as different as motherhood and fatherhood can look, the other connection that both shows have is that it has given the viewers a preconceived idea about themes of parenthood. We know that one show impacted the other because it allowed us to know this will be yet another entry about parenthood, but through a new lens.

It's not a tangible connection but an important one nonetheless. VisionQuest promises a lot of fun surprises and, with the way the show will unfold, will make Agatha All Along more important than ever.
