Avatar: Seven Havens (2026) has arrived on Paramount+, marking the first new Avatar series since The Legend of Korra (2012). When The Legend of Korra premiered, it expanded the Avatar lore but kept viewers close to familiar territory. The sequel series takes place just 70 years after Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005), featuring the Avatar immediately after Aang and even some original Team Avatar members. However, Avatar: Seven Havens jumps forward much further, set 225 years after The Legend of Korra. Naturally, much has changed in the world, including the Avatar. Use our guide to find out who the new Avatar is in Avatar: Seven Havens.

‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ Introduces A New Avatar (With A Twist)

Pavi in Avatar Seven Havens

At the beginning of Avatar: Seven Havens, the world is unaware that any Avatar exists, believing the Avatar cycle ended after Korra triggered a cataclysmic event. In Ellora, one of the havens that arose after the cataclysm, citizens harbor animosity toward the Avatar, celebrate Korra’s demise, and fear a potential Avatar return. Within this city, a 9-year-old girl, Pavi (Saheli Khan), struggles to survive on her own. She tries to hide her Earthbending abilities because the Bending Brigade recruits benders to protect the haven.

Pavi prefers to be on her own, with her cat-monkey, protecting the little insects of Ellora. However, while trying to reunite a lost bug with its family, she accidentally reveals her Earthbending to Jae (Major Curda), a brigade leader. Recognizing she’s an unlicensed bender, he pursues her outside Ellora’s walls, where they’re caught in a dangerous storm. Desperate to save Jae, Pavi uses her bending abilities again, but this time she bends air. Given that only the Avatar can bend more than one element, Pavi reveals herself to be the Avatar.

Avatar: Seven Havens introduces a twist, though. When Jae tells Brigade Captain Karthik (Akshay Khanna) that he has discovered the Avatar, Karthik says it’s impossible because the Avatar has already been found. Karthik has been secretly training the Avatar, a 9-year-old girl named Nisha (Aishu Devan), while disguising her as his assistant. At the end of the first episode of Avatar: Seven Havens, Nisha exhibits the ability to bend all four elements. Nisha and Pavi are identical and quickly realize they’re long-lost twins. They're not only long-lost twins, but also the twin Avatars.

Have There Ever Been Two Avatars At Once?

Besides Pavi and Nisha, there are no known twin Avatars in Avatar: The Last Airbender lore. In Avatar: Seven Havens, Karthik confirms that there are no records of two Avatars existing at once. While there were no known twin Avatars, there has been an Avatar who was also a twin. The Avatar: The Last Airbender comics reveal that Avatar Roku had a twin brother, Yasu, who was born minutes before him. Despite being twins, only Roku inherited Raava's spirit and became the Avatar, while Yasu remained an ordinary Firebender.

The only time there have ever technically been two Avatars was in The Legend of Korra, when Unalaq (Adrian LaTourelle) merged with Vaatu's spirit to become the Dark Avatar. Fan theories have already begun to formulate that Pavi and Nisha are both the Avatar, but that one has Vaatu’s spirit and the other has Raava's. Avatar: Seven Havens has yet to explain how two Avatars can exist at once, whether the Avatar Spirit is split between them, or whether something else is at play.
