Prime Video’s Spider-Noir has officially come out and surprised fans by just how fun it is as Spider-Man’s first live-action TV outing since 1977. Seeing Nicolas Cage embody the Spider felt long overdue and is a blast to see.

With eight episodes dropped all at once, the noir-themed mystery that spans the season comes to a head with the Spider finally taking on the show’s villains for one more duel. But much more than that happens in the explosive finale, and here’s a breakdown of those events.

Ben Reilly's Powers Are Still on the Fritz

Following the battle from Episode 7, Ben is starting to get better but still needs rest. It’s revealed that his powers aren’t working right after he overexerted himself, and it's not something that’ll get fixed anytime soon. Thankfully, his hard work paid off as a cured Tombstone skipped town to be with his mom.

Unfortunately for Ben, Megawatt and Sandman show up at Robbie’s apartment at the request of Silvermane. Hoping to sneak in the antidote vials, he’s forced to leave them behind, leaving Ben defenseless and powerless, and Robbie trying to work out a new plan with Janet.

Ben Reilly, Silvermane, and the Spider Meet (Sort Of)

In a meeting with Silvermane, Ben tries to buy time for his friends and Cat by keeping the mob boss on the hook. This includes calling them and Robbie acting like the Spider so that they can work out a deal.

Just as negotiations begin to break down, Robbie appears in the Spider outfit with a pitch-perfect Nicolas Cage impression to sell it. As Silvermane’s goons figure out Janet has three antidote vials, Megawatt decides it’s time for him to take control, not that he has the cure at his disposal. After nearly killing Robbie by injecting him with the cure and shocking him, Ben webs the bad guys up, outing his identity; then he goes to check on Robbie, who is safe, and changes outfits.

Megawatt and Sandman Take the Fight to the Streets

With Ben back in his Spider outfit, Megawatt and Sandman fight him so that Silvermane can escape. The battle is rough and eventually leads to the two throwing the Spider out a window and into the street.

Trying to cure one of them, the Spider is severely overpowered and loses one vial. Using all of his strength, the Spider then uses his webbing to pull two cars together on Sandman, turning him into a pile of sand.

Cat Hardy Fights Back and Reclaims Her Freedom

As Megawatt and Sandman face the Spider outside, Cat follows Silvermane under his club for one final confrontation. Caught in a room of mirrors, Cat shoots them thinking it's Silvermane, as he taunts her. It’s an amazingly shot sequence that plays on the style of ‘30s noir films so well that it may be one of the show’s best moments.

In the end, with no mirrors left, Cat and Silvermane face off, and as he takes a step, brandishing a knife, she fires. To his surprise, the bullet hits Silvermane, and he reassures her that he’s glad she was the one to finally kill him. A brief death in the grand scheme of things but one that signifies Cat finally making choices for herself again.

The Spider Makes One More Sacrifice

Sandman eventually reconstitutes himself, and he goes to Cat’s aid after Megawatt nearly kills her. The two fight in a battle that almost kills him. With one of his arms turned to glass by Megawatt’s electricity, it leaves the Spider alone against the powerful enemy.

Torn mask and all, the tired Spider makes one last effort to stop the villain, webbing him and taking volts of electricity. With a final tug, he throws Megawatt into an oncoming train that causes the villain to explode. It’s weird to see any Spider-Man variant kill, but if anyone could get away with it, it’s the Spider. With one antidote vial left, Ben sacrifices a life free of powers to give it to Flint so that he and Cat can finally be together.

The Future Looks Bright for the Spider

Outside of Ben Reilly’s Office

With Ben Reilly’s new lease on life, the future finally looks hopeful for the brooding hero. To start, Ben’s office has finally been renovated after being sacked by Silvermane’s goons, and it means he’s back open for business, taking cases around the city.

But now that Robbie and Janet are all on the same page about Ben’s secret, it means he can continue his heroic activities as the Spider. Instead of saving lives for the glory, however, he’s finally doing it for selfless reasons. While there’s no tease to a Season 2 yet, it does leave the door open for more mysteries.

Ben Reilly, an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's one and only superhero.
