Connor Storrie's 'April X' Ending, Explained
Connor Storrie is gracing the big screen in the new action-drama sci-fi movie April X (2026). Starring him and actress Lilly Krug, it tells the story of two siblings trying to survive in a post-Soviet cityscape. When Krug’s character, April, goes missing, Storrie’s character, Baxter, searches every dark corner he can, ultimately descending into madness when he finds out the truth.
But how does April X end? And does Storrie make it out alive by the end of this sci-fi thriller? I’ll be answering those questions and whether April X is getting a sequel. Because if there’s anything I know about Heated Rivalry (2025) fans, it’s that they’ll consume everything Storrie stars in. That’s what you do when you’re a fan of someone as talented as he is.
How Does 'April X' End?

April X ends with Baxter, also sometimes referred to as Bax, making the ultimate sacrifice for April. After he realizes that she hadn’t disappeared or died, he finds and steals one of the many clones made of her. However, he discovers that the clones retain some of April’s memories from when she was still a human before an evil millionaire got his hands on her.
As the movie winds down, Bax retrieves April’s memories from a rather unsecured club location. Her memories are in these sort of discs in this futuristic world. Bax takes her to a train station, where they share a hug, and he promises that no one is going to come after her. Afterward, Bax exits the train station only to be confronted by said evil millionaire, who wants his “property” back.
A shootout ensues, leading to the evil millionaire’s death. As Bax collapses on the steps, bleeding, cops appear, and the screen goes black.
Does Bax Die at the End of 'April X'?

With an ending like the one we got in April X, Bax’s fate isn’t clear-cut. It would be easy to assume that he died because of his wounds. But personally, I don’t think he’s dead.
Bax has been a fighter the entire time, even when he was being not so great of a character in his spiral over his sister disappearing. So if he fought during her disappearance, I have to believe that he kept fighting, even when he was injured and surrounded by police on those train steps.
Also, there’s the fact that we didn’t see him close his eyes and 100% die. If anything, the fact that he looked toward the camera defiantly, relieved that his sister would be free and not hunted anymore, speaks to him surviving. I believe it even more when we get a voiceover of April X saying that this isn’t over. Plus, we didn’t see her get on that train. She could be there, about to rescue him!
Is 'April X' Getting a Sequel?

As open-ended as April X is in those final moments, there seems to be no official announcement that this sci-fi thriller is getting a sequel. If anything, April X struggled to get a distributor for a while. But Storrie’s success in Heated Rivalry created a demand for more of his work.
Sunrise Films and Rialto Distribution, which picked up films for the US market, said in a statement, “We are incredibly excited to bring Connor Storrie’s electrifying sci-fi thriller April X to theaters across the United States and Canada. The film is a high-concept, adrenaline-charged ride that pairs cutting-edge, cyberpunk world-building with gripping suspense, powered by Storrie’s magnetic star turn at its core.”
When thinking about a sequel to April X, we also have to consider that Storrie is pretty busy right now. He’s got the comedy Peaked alongside Molly Gordon, Emma Mackey, and Dua Lipa. There’s also the drama The Bell Jar alongside Ella Beatty and Carey Mulligan, the drama-thriller Turpentine alongside Melissa McCarthy, and period romance Please (2027) alongside David Jonsson and Lola Tung. And, of course, there’s Heated Rivalry Season 2 alongside the talented Hudson Williams. Storrie also has his feature directorial debut, Transaction Planet, to take into consideration as well. He also wrote and starred in this sci-fi movie. So if April X were to get a sequel, it’s not going to be for a while.
