As Camp Rock 3 heads for Disney Plus, there’s never been a better time to catch up with the cast of the OG movie.

We talk a lot about Disney’s golden era in terms of animation, but less attention is given to what I consider to be the golden age of Disney Channel content from the early-mid 2000s up until the early 2010s. Not only did we have some stellar TV shows, like Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and Wizards of Waverly Place, but we also got some great movies, including the High School Musical trilogy and of course, the Camp Rock movies.

The first Camp Rock film, which was released in 2008, tells the story of Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) as she navigates her time at the titular music camp. As she tries to keep up with an awkward lie about her background, she grows closer to big-shot musician Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), who is reluctantly at the camp too. As well as spawning some hits, the movie is all about honesty, fun, and rocking out, dude.

It has now been 18 years since the film was released, so, with that, and Camp Rock 3 coming out, this is what the main cast have been up to, both past and present.

Demi Lovato (Mitchie Torres)

Demi Lovato in Glee

Demi Lovato is probably one of the most successful people to come out of the Disney Channel. As well as fronting her own Disney sitcom, Sonny with a Chance, she also led films like Princess Protection Program. She also crafted a successful musical career, and like most people in that era, had a guest appearance in Glee. Although she has been open about some well-documented difficulties, her music career has remained successful, and she even fronted a documentary exploring the child star pipeline entitled Child Star.

One to Watch: I will literally never pass up an excuse to recommend Glee, even if Demi’s own guest appearance was limited.

Joe Jonas (Shane Gray)

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato in Camp Rock 2

Joe Jonas is another big Disney success story. As one third of the Jonas Brothers, he enjoyed a pretty fruitful music career with his brothers while he was making it big on the Disney Channel with Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam and his own TV show with his brothers, Jonas. He also tried his hand at a solo career. The Jonas Brothers split in 2013, but reunited six years later, and have since then enjoyed the fruits of their labour, also releasing a 2019 documentary and starring in a Christmas movie in 2025, along with their highly successful music. Currently, they’re on tour, and all three of them returned for Camp Rock 3

One to Watch: For Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Joe even goes as far as ditching the hair straighteners. Now that’s what I call commitment. It’s also a pretty fun movie.

Meaghan Martin (Tess Tyler)

Meaghan Martin in Mean Girls 2

Meaghan Martin played the antagonistic Tess Tyler in both Camp Rock movies. However, she is probably best known for her role as Bianca Stratford in the 10 Things I Hate About You TV series (no, I didn’t know there was a TV show either). She also had a recurring role in the sitcom Awkward and voiced characters in video games like Until Dawn and Kingdom Hearts 2, the latter of which is, in my opinion, the best video game of all time. As well as this, she starred in Mean Girls 2, which was critically panned.

One to Watch: See how Martin fares on the other end of the “mean girl” spectrum in Mean Girls 2. This time, she’s the protagonist.

Alyson Stoner (Caitlyn Gellar)

Alyson Stoner in Camp Rock

Alyson Stoner was a big child/teen star, known for appearing in the Cheaper by the Dozen movies and two of the Step Up films. Their dancing prowess led to them acting as a backup dancer for stars like Will Smith and Eminem. They also appeared in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and the Canadian family show Overruled! As well as this, they’ve done their fair share of voice acting. Interestingly enough, Stoner also lent their voice to the Kingdom Hearts video game series, where they played not one, but two roles.

One to Watch: Cheaper By The Dozen is a great nostalgia trip.

Nick Jonas (Nate Gray)

power ballad

While Joe Jonas was the face of the Jonas Brothers, it is arguable that Nick Jonas has had more mainstream success than his brother. Along with the Jonas Brothers venture, he released some solo material and even started his own band, Nick Jonas and the Administration. He also appeared in a lot of theatre productions both as a child and an adult, taking on the role of Marius in Les Miserables on the West End and for the 25th Anniversary Concert. He has also appeared in a number of TV shows like Kingdom and Scream Queens, along with some of the Jumanji reboot films and, most recently Power Ballad, in which he co-starred with Paul Rudd. He’s also in Camp Rock 3.

One to Watch: As I said earlier this year, Power Ballad is a criminally underrated film. And Nick was great!

Kevin Jonas (Jason Gray)

The Jonas Brothers in Camp Rock

Compared to his brothers, Kevin has had a little of a quieter time. He has previously ventured into reality TV with Married to Jonas in 2012 and The Celebrity Apprentice in 2014. While his brothers remained in the entertainment business during their split, Kevin started his own construction company, Jonas Werner, and became the co-CEO of influencer marketing company The Blu Market. Like his brothers, he returned for Camp Rock 3

One to Watch: Ok, I’ll bite — Jonas, which Kevin starred in with his brothers, was actually pretty funny sometimes.

Jasmine Richards (Peggy)

Jasmine Richards in Camp Rock

Jasmine Richards appeared in both Camp Rock films. Apart from that, she’s had a few roles here and there, but her most notable ones include appearances in TV shows Naturally, Sadie and, like Stoner, Overruled! She also had a voice role in the animated show Redakai: Conquer the Kairu. It appears that, in recent years, she has stepped away from the spotlight, although, in 2025, she briefly returned to public attention after her singing scene in Camp Rock (which was dubbed) became a viral TikTok meme.

One to Watch: Redakai: Conquer the Kairu may be a little obscure, but the Western show is inspired by anime — so, if you’re into the adventure anime genre, it might be worth checking out.

Anna Maria Perez De Tagle (Ella)

Anna Maria Perez De Tagle in Camp Rock 2

Actor and singer Anna Maria Perez de Tagle proved she could perfect the mean girl role as one half of duo Amber and Ashley in Hannah Montana, who spent their time terrorising poor Miley at school. Outside of the Disney Channel, her most notable achievement is her role as Joy Moy in the 2009 movie Fame — which, unfortunately, wasn’t very well-received by critics.

One to Watch: She was hilariously infuriating in Hannah Montana.

Maria Canals-Barrera (Connie Torres)

Maria Canals-Barrera in Camp Rock 2

Prior to the Camp Rock movies, Maria Canals-Barrera was already well-embedded in the Disney Channel family, playing Theresa Russo in the series Wizards of Waverly Place and voicing Sunset Boulevardez in The Proud Family. As well as appearing in short-lived ABC sitcom Cristela, she found success in the DC Animated Universe as the voice of Shayera Hol/Hawkgirl. She reprised her role as Connie for Camp Rock 3.

One to Watch: Wizards of Waverly Place is, as I said, a classic.
