Camp Rock 3: Plot Details, Who's Returning & How to Catch Up With the Series
Disney Adults rejoice — Camp Rock is coming back!
Nearly 20 years on from Demi Lovato’s star turn and that cringeworthy march-and-chant moment in the sequel, we’re finally going back to the place that Connect 3… connected.
Now that the trailer for Camp Rock 3 has dropped, we know a little more about what to expect from the threequel in terms of the plot, cast, and release date, and more. So, read on if you want to rock on.
What Will Camp Rock 3 Be About?
Ahead of their planned reunion tour, Connect 3 end up losing their supporting act. So, they return to where it all began to find a new opener for their tour. In the process, we meet a new generation of campmates with plenty of drama, romance, and other twists and turns along the way.
As the official synopsis states, “the competition heats up as an ambitious newcomer Sage, goes all in, even if it means clashing with her brother, Desi. Sage, plus bad-boy guitarist Fetch, cello prodigy Rosie, and energetic drummer Cliff make the quest for the spotlight emotional and intense. But as friendships form and feelings build, the campers must decide if there’s more to life than winning.”
So, it looks like there will be a mix of revisiting old characters and getting acquainted with new ones as they no doubt express their feelings through song.
Who Is the Cast and Crew of Camp Rock 3?
Camp Rock 3 is directed by Veronica Rodriguez. Along with Tim Federle, Betsy Sullenger, Gary Marsh, and Spencer Berman, all three Jonas brothers and Demi Lovato are executive producers for this movie.
Along with Joe, Kevin, and Nick Jonas, who will be reprising their roles as Shane, Jason, and Nate Gray, another returning character from the first film is Maria Canals-Barrera, who will once again be playing Mitchie’s mum, Connie.
Meanwhile, new cast members and their respective characters include Liamani Segura (Sage), Hudson Stone (Desi), Lumi Pollack (Rosie), Casey Trotter (Cliff), Brooklynn Pitts (Callie), Ava Jean (Madison), Malachi Barton (Fletch), and Sherry Cola (Lark).
While Lovato isn’t officially announced as part of the cast, I will be very surprised if she doesn’t show up in the film as a cheeky cameo.
What Is The Release Date & Format?
Camp Rock 3 will drop on Disney+ on August 14. We know that it is set to debut on Disney Channel US a day earlier, so it’s reasonable to expect it to arrive on Disney Channel UK on August 13 as well. However, an exact premiere time has not yet been confirmed.
Camp Rock Films to Watch First - and Where to Stream Them
Before you dive back into the world of Camp Rock, it’s worth catching up on the movies that started it all.
2008’s Camp Rock introduces us to Mitchie Torres, a talented musician, along with Connect 3. Ashamed of her humble beginnings, Mitchie tells a little white lie that snowballs enormously, throwing a spanner in the works of her burgeoning relationship with Shane Gray, the bad boy of Connect 3.
After that, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam catches up with a dwindling Camp Rock who end up going head to head with rival musical camp Camp Star. In the midst of all this pressure, Mitchie and Shane’s relationship faces its biggest test so far.
Both of these movies are available to stream on Disney+.
