'Camp Rock 4' Might Be More Likely Than You Think
Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010) proved not to be quite so final for the fictional boy band, Connect 3, portrayed by the Jonas Brothers. Sixteen years after the sequel, a third movie, Camp Rock 3 (2026), landed on Disney+. The legacy sequel sees the Jonas Brothers reprise their roles as the Gray brothers, while Demi Lovato returns as Mitchie Torres, but the characters are a long way from their boy-band and aspiring-musician days.
In Camp Rock 3, the Gray brothers and Torres are deep into their rockstar careers, but find themselves back at Camp Rock in pursuit of new talent to serve as the opening act of Connect 3’s reunion tour. It’s a nostalgia-filled and entertaining Camp Rock (2008) revival that will have you reminiscing about childhood days spent watching cheesy but heartwarming and charming Disney Channel Originals. However, according to the Jonas Brothers, Camp Rock 3 might become a whole lot more than a one-and-done nostalgic trip.
Will There Be a ‘Camp Rock 4’?
As of the writing of this article, Disney has not officially announced or confirmed Camp Rock 4. Even so, the stars and creative team behind Camp Rock 3 have raised hopes for a sequel, sharing their ideas and theories for another story. Director Veronica Rodriguez doesn’t want to stop with Camp Rock 4, either. She told Swoon, “We’re all just kind of waiting and seeing. But like, I am manifesting a Camp Rock 4. I love these kids. They’re so talented, and their relationships are so satisfying. I could watch them forever. Give me a 4, 5, and 6.”
Rodriguez already has some ideas for Camp Rock 4, telling Swoon she was interested in a more romance-focused sequel. While Camp Rock 3 is more about friendships, as a cross between Camp Rock and The Breakfast Club (1985) when it comes to vibes, Rodriguez suggested she’d like to explore the subtle romantic tension between the young characters more thoroughly in a fourth movie. Camp Rock 3 star Casey Trotter also shared his ideas for a potential sequel with TV Insider, which would explore how the tour changes the young characters’ personalities and perspectives.
With such a young cast and a unique musical premise, there are plenty of avenues for the story of Camp Rock to continue. Based on what the Jonas Brothers have said, though, there may be something more to Camp Rock 4 than just cast theories.
The Jonas Brothers Have Ambitious Plans for ‘Camp Rock’s Future
In an interview with EW, the Jonas Brothers confirmed their interest in returning for Camp Rock 4. Nick Jonas stated plainly that “the intention was to not just make one film [and] walk down memory lane.” His ideas, though, are even more ambitious than you may expect. According to him, he wants to create a cinematic universe of Disney Channel Original Movies. He told EW, “One of our favorite things to do is to sit around at the end of the night, have a drink, and discuss concepts for Disney crossover universes between Descendants, Camp Rock, Zombies... We could turn this into a full MCU-style universe.”
While the idea of a Disney Channel cinematic universe might sound a bit far-fetched, Nick Jonas insisted he was serious. He explained that he and his brothers are interested in further projects, such as Camp Rock 3, where they can draw on their past to create opportunities for new artists and talent. Jonas concluded, “The sky’s the limit.” Joe Jonas also lightheartedly teased Camp Rock 4, sharing that he and his brothers were down to “come back as grandpas.”
What to Watch While Waiting for ‘Camp Rock 4’
The Jonas Brothers have big plans for the future of Camp Rock. While nothing is confirmed yet, the possibility of Camp Rock 4 remains very real. After all, the movie included a tease, in which Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) asks Mitchie, “Same time, next summer?” While you await news of Camp Rock 4, Camp Rock, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, and Camp Rock 3 are all streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, and there’s no better time to catch up on the trilogy.
Additionally, if you want the full Disney experience, it might be time to look into the Descendants franchise. The film series follows the adventures of the descendants of Disney villains and heroes, creating a nice tie between Disney Channel teen entertainment and Disney’s classic animation. All five movies, Descendants (2015), Descendants 2 (2017), Descendants 3 (2019), Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024), and Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (2026), are streaming on Disney+. Z-O-M-B-I-E-S (2018) is another Disney Channel Original that features both Disney charm and music.
