‘TYGO’s Cast, Plot & Everything We Know About The ‘Extraction’ Spin-Off So Far
Netflix’s Extraction universe is expanding and heading off to South Korea with the new spin-off film, TYGO (TBD). In 2020, Extraction became a pandemic hit, delivering dazzling action and stunt work to viewers from the comfort of their homes. Produced by the Russo brothers, the film tells the exhilarating tale of Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth), a veteran-turned-mercenary, who sets out on a daring mission to save Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), the kidnapped son of a drug lord.
From its riveting rescue mission to its unpredictable twists and mind-boggling action sequences, Extraction was just the form of escapism the world needed in 2020, and the film became the most-watched Netflix original movie at the time. Unsurprisingly, Extraction quickly received the franchise treatment from Netflix, with a sequel, Extraction 2 (2023), and the green light for Extraction 3 (TBD). Now, the franchise is growing further with its first official spin-off film. Use our guide to learn everything you need to know about the Extraction spin-off, TYGO.
What Is ‘TYGO’ About?

In December 2025, Netflix announced that, in partnership with the Russo Brothers’ AGBO entertainment company, it was developing an Extraction spin-off film titled TYGO. The title refers to the main character, Tygo, a former child soldier-turned-mercenary who embarks on a journey of vengeance after a mission goes wrong. The film takes place in South Korea, with Tygo targeting the country’s underworld in his revenge mission. Inspired by the Ciudad graphic novel on which the Extraction films are based, TYGO seeks to put a Korean spin on the franchise. AGBO producer and chief creative officer Angela Russo-Otstot told Tudum, “We’re thrilled to explore the world of Extraction through a South Korean lens.”
Who Stars in ‘TYGO’?

Netflix's initial announcement of TYGO confirmed three main cast members: Don Lee, Lee Jin-uk, and BLACKPINK’s Lisa. The Outlaws (2017) and Eternals (2021) star Don Lee will take on the lead role of Tygo, which is fitting for one of South Korea’s most recognized action stars. Meanwhile, Lee Jin-uk is a Netflix veteran, known for his performance as Pyeon Sang-wook in Sweet Home (2020) and Player 246 in Squid Game (2021). According to IMDb, Lee Jin-uk stars in TYGO as Arman Choi.
Rounding out the lead trio is Lisa. While she’s best known as a member of the K-pop band BLACKPINK, Lisa recently transitioned into acting with a role in The White Lotus (2021) and will now star in her first major film through TYGO as Ria. South Korean actors Choi Dae-hoon and Ryeoun have also joined the cast of TYGO in undisclosed roles.
The Roundup (2022) director Lee Sang-yong has signed on to direct, while Pig Village (2026) writer Cha Woo-jin will write the script. So far, the lead crew has teased the potential of TYGO and its distinct Korean vibes, with Don Lee telling Tudum, “TYGO brings a distinctly Korean identity into the global Extraction universe. We can’t wait to unleash its explosive energy on audiences worldwide.” Lee Jin-uk identified himself as a fan of the franchise, while Lisa expressed her excitement at TYGO being her “first movie role.”
‘TYGO’ Details, Speculation, and Fan Theories

Netflix has been keeping most details of TYGO’s plot and characters under wraps, but it is making steady progress on the movie. On March 12, 2026, AGBO announced on Instagram that filming had officially wrapped on TYGO. With TYGO already in post-production, hopes are rising for a late 2026 or early 2027 release date.
Much of the fan speculation on TYGO has centered on Lisa’s role. Her large fandom was ecstatic about her soft-spoken, down-to-earth role as health guru Mook in The White Lotus Season 3, so her subsequent casting in TYGO has caused quite a stir. On Reddit, fans have debated what her role in TYGO will look like, theorizing she may become action star Lisa or perhaps take on a more drama-centered role as a detective or similar.
Although Netflix has been vague about the plot, given its setting in the Extraction universe, it’s highly likely that the main protagonist, Tygo, isn’t just embarking on a revenge mission, but also a rescue mission. Regardless of the details, the spin-off is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the Extraction universe. The South Korean setting is a welcome shift in scenery, while Netflix has tapped top-tier talent for its cast, boding well for another action-packed, daring mission.
