'The White Lotus' Season 4 Cast, Plot, Setting & Everything Else To Know (So Far)
Mike White is confirmed to give HBO another season of its critically acclaimed resort-based drama, The White Lotus (2021). Filming for Season 4 is already well underway as we gather up data and try to figure out what the series' next mystery will be about, with next to no information on the matter. Much of the production and plot will stay under wraps to keep fans from guessing until the final episode airs, but it's still fun to piece together clues to see what we'll get.
Perhaps most importantly, the biggest appeal in the show continues to be its rotating ensemble cast, which makes every new season of the show thrilling to discuss every week as a new episode drops. (I, for one, am still thinking about the monologue Carrie Coon delivered as Laurie Duffy in Season 3.) That said, we might have very little at the moment, but we still know a few things to hold us over until The White Lotus returns.
What Is 'The White Lotus' Season 4 About And Where Is It Set?

While the plot for The White Lotus Season 4 is naturally kept under lock and key, we do know that this year, we're heading to Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, France. And here's the thing: All seasons of the show have been gorgeous where aesthetics are concerned, but Saint-Tropez? I've never been more seated.
The season is going to be stunning, and the number of outfits we'll get from the cast will make the mystery even more thrilling because there's really something so enticing about people looking good even when they're awful, isn't there? It's also easy to wonder if this season will do something drastically different than the one before, considering Season 3 didn't gain as much traction as its debut or sophomore season.
Who Will Star In 'The White Lotus' Season 4?

The White Lotus cast is stacked with Hollywood greats, but Season 4 is also the first where we've had a departure before filming began. Initially, Helena Bonham Carter was set to star in a role created solely for her, but according to an HBO source at The Hollywood Reporter, "With filming just underway on season four of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set." It's unclear what this means, but in her place, we're getting Laura Dern.
Laura Dern did have a brief role in The White Lotus as the voice of the estranged wife of Michael Imperioli's Dominic Di Grasso, but in Season 4, she's set to play a completely different character. According to reports in Variety, she also won't be playing the same role that was initially written for Bonham Carter. Regardless, everything that Laura Dern touches results in something impeccable, so we can be sure of the fact that her prowess in the season will make it an exceptional watch from start to finish.
The rest of the ensemble cast includes, Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Chris Messina, Sandra Bernhard, Ari Graynor, Dylan Ennis, Vincent Cassel, Corentin Fila, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Chloe Bennet, Max Greenfield, Charlie Hall, Kumail Nanjiani, Jarrad Paul, Heather Graham, Frida Gustavsson, Rose Perez, Tobias Santelmann, Ben Schnetzer, Laura Smet, Pekka Strang, Max Minghella, Ben Kingsley, Charlie Day, and Kamilla Karthigesu.
It also wouldn't be shocking if we also got cameos throughout the show's run that are kept a secret until then. Secrets are a large part of the show's appeal, so there's a lot of draw in wondering what strings White can pull throughout. Filming has just begun for the fourth season, and while it'd be ideal if we got a release in 2026, chances of it coming in 2027 are more likely to happen. We have very little information outside of casting at the moment, but surely more will come to light as they wrap in the fall.
