'Sterling Point' Release Date, Cast & Plot, Explained
Sterling Point (2026) is yet another YA series to anticipate on Prime Video. The first look at the show from Megan Park came in the Obsession is in Session trailer. Presumably, more information about the show, set to release this summer, will come at Prime Video’s Obsessed Fest on Saturday, June 27, 2026. It’s one of the many projects, like Off Campus (2026) and The Love Hypothesis (2026), to be featured at the fan-forward event.
While only time will tell about Obsessed Fest, there is already plenty to know about Sterling Point, which Amazon MGM Studios produces. When Deadline exclusively reported some of the cast in June 2025, the series was “described as an ensemble drama with comedy and heart about sisterhood, nature vs nurture, complicated family dynamics, and grief.” As a fan of Park’s work, I’m excited to see her tackle those themes, which she has done so well in films, across an eight-episode season. The medium just gives Park even more time and space to excel.
Meet The ‘Sterling Point’ Cast

Sterling Point is led by Ella Rubin as Annie Jacobson, with Keen Ruffalo playing her twin brother and Jay Duplass as Annie’s adoptive father. The series also stars Amélie Elisabeth Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, and Missi Pyle. Details about their roles are still under wraps, although the few photos that have been released suggest that Rubin’s Annie is friends with Elisabeth Hoeferle’s character.
Creator Megan Park made her writing and directorial debut with The Fallout (2021), which is a movie I’ll never be able to shake. She continued her moving and timely coming-of-age narratives by writing and directing My Old Ass (2024), which is a movie that made me sob like a baby for a different reason. I came to Park’s work through the YA genre, so it feels quite special that she still finds such value in young adult narratives. She starred as Grace Bowman in ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2008).
She serves as Sterling Point’s director, co-showrunner, and executive producer alongside Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Their credits include other excellent YA series, like The O.C. (2003), Gossip Girl (2007), and Nancy Drew (2019). Those shows are pillars in the genre, if you ask me. Schwartz and Savage produce Sterling Point under their Fake Empire banner, while Dani Gorin and Tom Ackerley do so under LuckyChap.
What Is ‘Sterling Point’ About?
Described as “a heartfelt, coming-of-age drama,” Sterling Point follows Annie, who is 17 years old when everything in her life changes. Raised in New York City with her twin brother and “loving” adoptive father, “she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets,” per Prime Video’s description.
I am so eager to see how this island and all that it entails change Annie’s life and spur Sterling Point into a series. I also like that the description does just enough to hook me, but doesn’t give too much away. I also can’t help but remember Hart of Dixie (2011), where Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) learns that her biological father left her half of his medical practice in the charming, fictional small town of Bluebell, Alabama. I imagine the shows will be very different given their audiences and intentions, but I still appreciate the broad similarity.
In January 2025, Variety exclusively reported that the show was in development. “I am so thrilled to be partnering with LuckyChap and Amazon again after such an incredible journey making My Old Ass together,” Megan Park said at the time. “The trust they have in my world-building is every creator’s dream. I feel honoured to be working alongside two of the best in the business, Stephanie and Josh, who are masters at their craft. Together, we’re having the best time making something we really love, and hope audiences will love too.”
‘Sterling Point’ Release Date
Prime Video announced that the series was in production in October 2025. By May 2026, the show had wrapped on its first season. Park described the cast as “like family to” her in the Instagram video celebrating the season. Throughout the video, there are quick, behind-the-scenes glimpses of the cast and crew on the Sterling Point set.
“There’s no drama, which was a goal of mine, as the director and showrunner and creator and writer, to set a tone – that it was a really like fun, creative atmosphere. Some of these characters, they all change so much from Episode 1 to 8, some more obviously than others, but they have really clear arcs, and they’re really nuanced. We cannot wait for you guys to see Sterling Point. We’re so excited,” Park continued.
All eight episodes of Sterling Point Season 1 will premiere on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, on Prime Video.
