‘Maxton Hall’ Season 3 Release Date, Plot & What The First-Look Images Reveal

I’m so glad that a GIF (and maybe a fan edit or two) on social media pulled me into the world of Prime Video’s Maxton Hall – The World Between Us (2024). I don’t think I realized how invested I was in Ruby (Harriet Herbig-Matten) and James (Damian Hardung) as characters and their romance until James’s speech at Ruby’s Campbell Gala. It is such a well-earned, vulnerable scene that gives Ruby and James the positive momentum they need after James spends so much time (understandably) in the depths of his grief. It’s also authentically and beautifully portrayed by Hardung, who really lets James wear his heart on his sleeve in that scene. 

Essentially, I’m so glad I could jump in to enjoy the hype of Prime Video’s most successful international Original series. In a reflection of its popularity, the German-language romantic drama is also one of the featured series at the streamer’s inaguaral Obsessed Fest. Damian Hardung was in attendance to tease what’s to come in Maxton Hall’s third and final season based on Mona Kasten’s book Save Us. He reprises his role alongside Herbig-Matten. They are joined by Sonja Weißer as Lydia, Eidin Jalali as Graham, Ben Felipe as Cyril, Fedja van Huêt as Mortimer, Runa Greiner as Ember, Justus Riesner as Alistair, Govinda Gabriel as Kesh, Andrea Guo as Lin, Frederic Balonier as Kieran, Eli Riccardi as Elaine, and Dagny Dewath as Ophelia.

What Is ‘Maxton Hall’ Season 3 About?

The biggest thing that Maxton Hall Season 3 needs to do is pick up the threads from Season 2. One of the most important things for me is that Maxton Hall Season 3 deals with its mustache-twirling villain in James’s father, Mortimer (Fedja van Huêt). Surely, with this being the final season, this show will deliver some kind of accountability and consequences to this character who continues to be nothing but awful and ruinous. Truly, he sees James and Ruby’s solid ground as something to break. In the span of the six-episode second season, he makes it his personal mission to continue to destroy Ruby and her relationship with his son. 

Mortimer makes sure that Ruby’s mother is fired from her job at the bakery, and he intimidates Alice Campbell (Proschat Madani) to take back Ruby’s scholarship to Oxford. Not to mention, Mortimer gets everything in Cordelia’s (Clelia Sarto) will. Plus, Elaine Ellington (Eli Riccardi) presents a photo that makes it appear that Ruby and Graham Sutton (Eidin Jalali) are in a relationship, leading to the former’s suspension from the titular school and the latter’s arrest. 

At Obsessed Fest, Prime Video shared five new photos from the season. It looks like at least three of them could be from that scene, suggesting Season 3 picks up exactly where Season 2 leaves off. That would also coincide with what we know. Per the season’s synopsis, “Ruby has reached rock bottom. After being suspended from Maxton Hall College, her dream of studying at Oxford is on the verge of falling apart. With James by her side, she fights to clear her name, but her world continues to unravel. Friendships are pushed to their limits, long-buried secrets come to light, and in the end, Ruby and James must make an impossible choice: hold on—or let go.”

‘Maxton Hall’ Season 3 Release Date

I don’t know how to watch Maxton Hall and wish for anything other than James and Ruby to hold on. They’ve been through so much. There has to be a happy ending at the end of this, right? I know their relationship is defined by the socioeconomic conflicts they have to overcome. So, ideally, that means there will come a point when they overcome them and have a Happily Ever After. Luckily, Maxton Hall fans, we will know how it all ends sooner rather than later. I’m on the edge of my seat, and I haven’t even been watching from the beginning. I can only imagine how the fans who have been watching the show since 2024 feel going into this final season.

At Obsessed Fest, Hardung shared, “I’ve just got notice that Season 3, the final season of Maxton Hall, will finally air in December this year.” Of course, that news doesn’t confirm any specifics, but we may be able to learn something from Maxton Hall’s release schedule so far. The show debuted its six-episode first season in May 2024. The second season had a three-episode premiere in November 2025 and followed that with weekly releases. So, perhaps the third and final season will follow Season 2’s lead. If so, we could see the final chapter of James and Ruby’s story before the end of the year. Let’s hope for a happy ending!
