After winning over the fandom’s hearts in The Mandalorian (2019), Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu have made their big screen debut in The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026). The film stays true to the TV show's tone and themes, but expands the scope of the adventure as it sees Djarin and Grogu take on the Hutts.

In the movie, Djarin and Grogu continue working for the New Republic to strike down imperial remnants throughout the galaxy. However, to find one target, Djarin and the New Republic take the risk of striking a deal with the Hutt Twins. When the deal falls through, Djarin and Grogu find themselves on the bad side of the Twins, who have the power and lifespan to remain lifelong enemies of the pair. Use our guide to find out how The Mandalorian and Grogu leaves Djarin, Grogu, and the Hutts and what it means for the future.

How Does ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ End?

The Mandalorian and the Grogu Hutt

In The Mandalorian and Grogu, Djarin, against his misgivings, goes along with the New Republic’s plan to help the Hutt Twins locate their nephew Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White) in exchange for information on Imperial remnant Janu Coin (Jonny Coyne). However, when Djarin and Grogu discover Rotta is actually a pretty nice guy, who's trying to escape certain death from his jealous, power-hungry aunt and uncle, Djarin bypasses the Hutts. He delivers Coin to the New Republic without the Twins’ help and helps Rotta go into hiding.

For a moment, it seems to be the end of The Mandalorian and Grogu, until the bounty hunter Embo (Dave Filoni) hunts Djarin down and takes him to the Twins on Nal Hutta, who have already intercepted and detained Rotta. The Twins remove Djarin’s helmet before dropping him into a pit to fight a deadly Dragonsnake. Although Grogu and the Anzellans show up in time to save him, Djarin still sustains a bite from the Dragonsnake, poisoning him. Djarin can’t fit on the ship Grogu and the Anzellans arrived in, so he tells them to leave without him, planning to sacrifice himself to give them time to escape before the poison renders him unconscious.

However, Grogu stays behind and finds the badly wounded Djarin. For a while, the movie becomes ‘The Grogu Show’ as he scopes out an escape ship, nurses Djarin, and finds a potential cure for his poisoning. Djarin awakens, and he and Grogu decide to go back and fight the Hutts rather than live the rest of their lives hunted by them. Using Rotta’s abandoned ship, the pair blasts through the Hutts' headquarters, where Djarin engages Embo and Grogu frees Rotta. Rotta fights the Twins and nearly dies when all three Hutts start to fall into the Dragonsnake pit, before Grogu uses the Force to save Rotta. Djarin’s New Republic friends all come to his rescue and save the trio from Nal Hutta while the Hutts meet their demise from the Dragonsnake after Embo flees.

What’s Next for Djarin, Grogu, and Rotta?

The mandalorian and Grogu 2026

Initially, the New Republic planned to use Rotta as a bargaining chip, handing him over to the ruthless Twins in exchange for information. By the end of the movie, though, he has proven himself to be quite the ally, defeating the Twins, who planned to backstab the New Republic, and forming a connection with Grogu. Determined to be the opposite of his father, Rotta expresses interest in joining the New Republic. While Djarin is skeptical about how well a Hutt will be received in the New Republic, New Republic pilot Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios (Steven Blum) takes him under his wing. Presumably, Rotta will continue working for the New Republic as Djarin has.

Meanwhile, Djarin and Grogu, determined to remain “independent contractors” of the New Republic, go back to doing their own thing. The Mandalorian and Grogu ends with Djarin taking Grogu on board the Razor Crest, inviting him into the pilot’s seat to teach him how to fly. It’s an ending that promises Grogu’s apprenticeship under Djarin will continue. Although it doesn’t set the pair up for any particular adventure, it leaves the whole galaxy at their fingertips.

Once a lone bounty hunter, Mandalorian Din Djarin and his apprentice Grogu embark on an exciting new Star Wars adventure.
