Twenty years after Anne Hathaway’s Andie Sachs first stepped into the offices of Runway magazine, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is here, and, as legacy sequels go, it’s actually pretty chic and classy.

The returning stars bring their absolute A-game, and the new recruits (shout out Kenneth Branagh and Patrick Bramall) are just as good. Whisper it, but it also has things to say about mortality and the state of the media landscape. But, perhaps most surprisingly of all, the expected roll call of starry cameos never once gets in the way of the story.

For a movie about the most powerful woman in fashion, this is, I think, a really smart (and appropriately stylish) choice by returning director David Frenkel — this is, we are quickly reminded, still very much Amanda Priestly’s world and everyone else is just living in it. Almost none of the famous guest stars get to have a line, let alone a close-up, and add to that Frenkel’s decision to cut a chunky Sydney Sweeney cameo out entirely (as well as, allegedly, a winky one from Anna Wintour herself), and you’re left with a movie that feels appealingly confident in its own skin.

But whatever about all that — if you’ve seen the movie and are wondering who all those familiar faces at the MET gala sequence, the lunch party in the Hamptons, and Milan fashion week are, we’ve got you covered. In the list below, which is arranged in no particular order, I’ve listed every cameo I could spot in The Devil Wears Prada 2 — which includes models, designers, athletes and influencers as well as a few quite famous pop stars.

The Fashion GOATs: Donatella Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Law Roach, and More

We’re here to talk about The Devil Wears Prada 2, so it’s only appropriate to begin with the fashion world legends. The most prominent of these cameos is the unmistakable Donatella Versace, who’s seen lunching with Blunt’s Emily in Milan, who even gets to snap back at her in one of her most characteristic moments.

There are also appearances by Dolce & Gabbana as well as Carolina and Camilla Cucinelli. Early on, you can even spot Marc Jacobs working on a new design in the Runway offices. The more new school designers, Wisdom Kaye can be seen at one point, as can the stylist Law Roach and the legendary fashion photographer Brigitte Lacombe.

Lady Gaga

When news landed that Lady Gaga and Doechi were contributing a new song to the DWP2 soundtrack, rumours soon began to circulate that the Oscar winner would make an appearance on screen. As it turns out, Gaga not only gets to boss the catwalk at Milan fashion week with a performance of ‘Runway,’ she also gets a playfully spikey scene with Miranda just before.

In a nice little flourish, Priestly finds her backstage getting ready for her performance with Frederic Aspiras and Sarah Tanno, her real-life hair stylist and makeup artist. Neat.

Ciara & Jon Batiste

She gets the biggest moment of any cameo, but Gaga isn’t the only musician to appear in DWP2. Keep a sharp eye out at the MET Gala sequence, and you’ll be able to spot the ‘00s R&B superstar Ciara — the ‘1, 2 Step’ singer appears alongside Streep in a couple of shots, looking incredible in a sheer black gown.

Later on, at the Hamptons party, the increasingly ubiquitous musician Jon Batiste (who won an Oscar for Soul in 2021) can be seen swanning around before taking a seat next to Andie at the lunch table.

The Models and Influencers: Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Amelia Dimoldenberg, and More

Given the speed at which these models come and go in the movie, I won’t attempt to place them at specific points. Let’s just say that Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum both return, along with first-timers Anok Rai, Karolína Kurková, Hari Nef, Ashley Graham and Winnie Harlow. There are also representatives from the burgeoning world of fashion influencers, with appearances by Amelia Grey Hamlin as well as the Giggly Squad podcast hosts Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner. Best of all, we get a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo from Amelia Dimoldenberg, who is shown at the MET party trying to explain Chicken Shop Date to another attendee.

The Journalists: Edward Enninful, Ronny Chieng, Tina Brown, and More

Given that the movie is arguably even more of a love letter to the world of publishing and journalism than to the fashion industry, it’s nice to see so many well-known journalists appear throughout.

These include the New Yorker columnist and author Jia Tolentino, the former British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, the New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman, the Fast Politics host Molly Jong-Fast, the Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng, the NBC host (and former first daughter) Jenna Bush Hager, the legendary Vanity Fair editor in chief and Daily Beast founder Tina Brown, the tech journalist Kara Swisher, the NYT columnist Suleika Jaouad and the advertising pioneer Richard Kirshenbaum. Respect.

The Athletes: Karl-Anthony Towns and Rory McIlroy

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there aren’t a whole lot of sports stars in The Devil Wears Prada 2, but Frenkel does find room for the New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, who shares a brief interaction with Miranda at her Hamptons party.

Frenkel also makes room for the Happy Gilmore 2 cameo alum Rory McIlroy to add another credit to his IMDb — the recent Masters winner appears alongside his wife Erica at the MET Gala party, but like almost all the famous faces in DWP2, he simply comes and goes.

As Miranda Priestly nears retirement, she reunites with Andy Sachs to face off against her former assistant turned rival: Emily Charlton.
