10 Best Glen Powell Movies, Ranked (And Where To Watch Them Online)

    Rachel Ulatowski

This list has been updated by Charlene Badasie.

Glen Powell may feel like Hollywood's latest overnight sensation, but anyone who's followed his rise to fame knows his success is built on a surprisingly wide range of roles. What makes Powell so electric to watch isn't just his movie-star looks or charm. It's the way he adapts to his genre while still giving every character that signature Powell blend of wit, sincerity, and confidence.

This list highlights Powell's 10 best film projects, ranked from worst to best, not to diminish any entry, but to show how Powell's versatility and skill sharpened over time and why certain films represent stronger showcases of who he is as a performer. Each ranking is directly informed by how these films compare to one another, how fully Powell is utilized, and how strongly the movie itself holds up.

    Everybody Wants Some!! (2016)

Everybody Wants Some follows a group of baseball players during the weekend before classes begin. What unfolds is a loose, sun-soaked hangout film about ego, friendship, and discovery. Powell's performance as Walt Finnegan is charming and effortlessly confident. Though Powell steals almost every scene he's in, the film itself is intentionally lightweight, meaning he gets less space to shine.

Compared to higher-ranked entries, Everybody Wants Some!! doesn't showcase Powell's full range. But it is still a fun early snapshot of his career. This film is perfect for fans of Dazed and Confused (1993) or anyone who enjoys character-driven, free-flowing comedies. It ranks last not because it's weak, but because Powell's role feels more like a career preview. You can stream it on Amazon Prime Video.

    Devotion (2022)

Based on the true story of naval aviators Jesse Brown and Tom Hudner, Devotion details their bond during the Korean War as they deal with things like duty, danger, and sacrifice. Powell plays Tom Hudner with quiet sincerity, offering one of his most understated performances, creating a steady, honorable counterbalance to Jonathan Majors' more emotionally explosive Jesse Brown.

While the film is powerful, Powell's role is more supportive than transformative and doesn't showcase Powell's full versatility the way some of the other films on this list do. Still, it's an impressive testament to his dramatic capabilities. The movie is best for fans of historical dramas like Midway (2019). Devotion is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

    Red Wing (2013)

Set in a small Texas town, Red Wing follows farming couple Carl and Maddie Blanton, who take in a foster child named Francis (Powell). When he grows up, Carl suspects that Francis and Maddie are having an affair. Although Powell's role is small, he brings sincerity and realism to his limited screen time, showing the early seeds of his charm even before his breakout roles.

Compared to the movies ranked above it, Red Wing simply gives Powell far less space to shape the story. This film suits viewers who like intimate rural dramas or Nicholas Sparks-style romances like The Notebook (2004). It ranks low on the list because it's more historically interesting than career-defining, but Powell completists will appreciate it. Red Wing is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

    Hidden Figures (2016)

Hidden Figures tells the true story of three Black women, Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughan, whose mathematical brilliance while working at NASA helped make America's early space missions possible. The film celebrates their overlooked contributions while depicting all the racial and gender barriers they overcame.

Glen Powell appears as John Glenn, and although it's a supporting role, he makes a big impression. Powell brings charm, respect, and warmth to the legendary astronaut, playing him as a man who trusts the expertise of the women around him when almost no one else will. This movie is ideal for fans of uplifting historical dramas like The Help (2011). It is currently streaming on HBO Max.

    Set It Up (2018)

Set It Up follows Harper Moore (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie Young (Powell), two overworked assistants, who decide to secretly set up their bosses so they can finally get some much needed downtime. Their plan backfires, and in an added twist, they begin falling for each other. Powell's performance as Charlie is endlessly watchable, and his chemistry with Deutch is top-tier.

The film is wildly popular because of the dynamic between the lead stars. While Set It Up is more delightful than groundbreaking, it ranks above earlier entries because it's one of the first films to show Powell fully commanding a lead role with big-screen charisma. It's perfect for fans of classic rom-coms like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003). Set It Up is streaming on Netflix.

    Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Top Gun: Maverick follows Captain Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise), who returns to the Top Gun training school to prepare a group of new pilots for a dangerous mission. Among the trainees is LT Jake "Hangman" Seresin (Powell), who is arrogant, talented, and itching to prove himself. The character is also positioned as a rival to Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw (Miles Teller).

Hangman is the role that turned Powell into a household name. Compared to his earlier films, Top Gun: Maverick essentially proved the actor's natural star power. However, it ranks below Powell's other films because, while iconic, Hangman is a supporting character, and the film isn't his vehicle. Still, it's a great pick for action-packed blockbusters and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

    Hit Man (2024)

Hit Man follows mild-mannered college professor Gary Johnson (Powell), who secretly works with police by posing as a fake contract killer. His life spirals when he falls for a woman who is trying to find someone to kill her abusive husband. This is arguably Powell's most versatile performance as he shifts between personas with effortless precision.

The movie ranks high on this list because, compared to everything below it, Hit Man gives Powell the widest acting playground. Only the top three outshine it by scope, charisma, or cultural impact. And what makes it even more interesting is that Powell co-wrote the script. Hit Man is perfect for fans of character-driven comedies like The Nice Guys (2016). It can be found on Netflix.

    The Running Man (2025)

The Running Man follows Ben Richards (Powell), who becomes the unwilling star of a deadly televised survival game. As the world watches, he must outwit both the hunters and the system exploiting him so that he can win the prize money to pay for his daughter's medical care. Powell delivers one of his most intense performances in this role, mixing toughness with vulnerable flashes of humanity.

Compared to Top Gun: Maverick, he carries far more emotional weight. And compared to Hit Man, this film shows his pure physicality and dramatic edge. It ranks above those films because it presents Powell at blockbuster scale while still giving him rich character material. The movie is ideal for fans of dystopian action thrillers like The Hunger Games (2012).

    Anyone But You (2024)

Anyone But You follows Ben (Powell) and Beatrice (Sydney Sweeney), who agree never to speak again after a terrible misunderstanding puts them at odds after a perfect first date. But things get tricky when they are forced to fake a relationship during a destination wedding. This movie is Powell's rom-com crown jewel thanks to his chemistry with Sweeney.

Compared to Set It Up, this is a more confident, more stylish version of Powell's romantic persona, and compared to Top Gun: Maverick, it proves he can carry a hit on his own. The movie is fun and oddly endearing, which explains why it resonated with viewers far beyond its genre expectations. Anyone But You is perfect for fans of modern rom-coms and can be found on Amazon Prime Video.

    Twisters (2024)

Twisters follows meteorologist Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and a group of storm chasers who race toward tornadoes to gather life-saving data before getting sucked into the eye of the storm. But their efforts are interrupted when a rival group led by internet influencer Tyler Owens (Powell) shows up with the same idea. Powell's performance is the most complete expression of his screen identity to date.

He commands the screen with the swagger of Top Gun: Maverick, the charm of Anyone But You, and the emotional grounding of Devotion. No other Powell film hits all three pillars at once. Compared to every entry, Twisters showcases his charisma, physicality, humor, and heart on the grandest stage. The movie is ideal for fans of disaster films like 1996's Twister. The movie is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

  • The 10 Best Mia Goth Movies, Ranked

The 10 Best Mia Goth Movies, Ranked

    Atreyi Jayadutt

    JustWatch Editor

When I first discovered Mia Goth, I had unknowingly watched two of her movies—Emma. and Pearl—back-to-back without knowing she was in both of them. When I found out, I was mind-blown. From her breakout performance in Nymphomaniac to her most recent release Frankenstein, Goth consistently exudes a magnetic energy that makes it impossible to look away from the screen, whether she’s playing a psychotic murder icon, a violent farm girl, or a femme fatale (and my, that girl has lungs!) If you’ve been sleeping on her work, then I implore you (with love!) to wake up, because she is a powerhouse performer you wouldn’t want to miss.

Buckle up, because here are ten of Mia Goth’s best movies, ranked, and where you can watch them on Netflix, HBO Max, and more.

    10. A Cure for Wellness (2017)

When a high-powered executive travels to a remote Swiss spa to find his CEO, he realizes that the wellness center might be plotting some unnatural treatments. A Cure for Wellness is similar to Scorsese’s Shutter Island, only where the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer was interesting, A Cure for Wellness is longer and meandering (and with more eels!)

It’s the kind of movie you watch late at night, half wondering how it’s all going to end, and half wanting to switch the movie off and go to sleep. Mia Goth’s Hannah, a mysterious patient, though not a massive role, is one that brings an eerie but accessible energy that makes sitting through the movie worth it (her oddly calm nature coupled with her humming, gave me goosebumps.) The movie isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (including mine), but if you’re a horror enthusiast who likes an unsettling atmosphere over outright massacres, then you can give A Cure for Wellness a try.

    9. Mayday (2021)

A woman finds herself on a mysterious island populated by militant women who communicate with men through distress calls and gun fire (two things I didn’t think could go hand-in-hand.) In Mayday, Goth plays Marsha, a woman who drifts between being panicked and confident, depending on which minute of the film you’re in. Her expressions (especially her micro gestures), are enough to keep you invested, even when the plot sometimes veers into “wait..what?” territory.

Mayday’s unique concept and symbolic storytelling is more intimate and tense, unlike A Cure for Wellness, which relied on spectacle. If you enjoy making your own theories after watching ambiguous films that don’t explain themselves, then Mayday might be for you. However, if you’re someone who wants to understand what’s happening in every moment…well, good luck. Though it’s a lesser-known film in Goth’s filmography, it’s worth a watch if you want to see what she’s capable of outside of slashers and sci-fi.

    8. The Survivalist (2015)

For anyone who finds bleak, post-apocalyptic thrillers without heroic speeches and explosions appealing, congratulations! The Survivalist is tailor made for you. Goth plays her character with calculating vulnerability; she commands attention, making every hesitant move riveting, and is largely the reason why you continue watching three grown adults living under the same roof (while two secretly plot to kill the third at the same time.)

I did find the movie to be slightly emotionally distant, and felt it could have benefitted from engaging the viewer on a deeper level, but regardless, Goth dominates every scene, especially the ending. The contrast between her performance in The Survivalist and Emma. is so striking, but Goth adapts (and even thrives!) seamlessly in both worlds. The Survivalist echoes the grim tone of The Road, though the latter has more personal stakes.

    7. Emma. (2020)

This is the refreshing break you’ve been wanting after going through the more heavy entries above (there’s more of those coming, don’t worry!) In Emma., an adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic book, Goth steps away from fear, despair, and horror, and proves that she can do lighter fare too, in her role as Harriet Smith, a socially awkward, slightly adrift friend of the titular character, Emma Woodhouse. This film is the lightest entry in Goth’s catalog thus far, and is the bright to Suspiria's moody atmosphere. The movie itself is stylish and hilarious, add to it Goth’s eager to please, uncertain portrayal of Harriet, and you’ve got a wonderful film to cozy up to on a Friday night.

Though some people felt Goth was overshadowed by the louder personalities in the movie (which is to be expected), Goth’s understated, yet dramatic performance still leaves an indelible mark (that scene where Mr. Churchill carries Harriet home? Hilarious!) If you mostly know her from her horror movies and are in the mood for witty social chaos that makes you want to sip tea and throw the TV remote at the same time, then this period comedy is a pleasant recalibration, and I for one would love to see Goth in more comedic roles.

    6. Infinity Pool (2023)

A wealthy couple goes on a tropical vacation, but an accident quickly devolves into murder and debauchery (and clones!) Infinity Pool is dark and strange, with a lot of fever-dream like elements that make you wonder if it’s all actually happening, or if it’s a hallucination. Goth, as Gabi, delivers a chilling and unhinged performance (in the best way) where she’s terrifying, flirtatious, and unpredictable, thriving in excess unlike in The Survivalist which was more subdued. She understood the assignment; even in some of the visually overwhelming scenes, Goth is the one who you can’t look away from (also, the bus-and-car scene; that’s all I’ll say.) Of course, the film isn’t easy to watch, but if you’re a horror fan who prefers psychologically twisted movies, kind of like Possessor (also a Brandon Cronenberg film), then you definitely can’t miss Infinity Pool.

    5. Suspiria (2018)

In Suspiria, a remake of a horror classic, a young dancer from America joins a prestigious Berlin dance academy, only to discover that it’s run by witches who are more terrifying than any ballet critique (according to me, at least.) Though she wasn’t the central focus, her presence aids in deepening the creeping unease that the movie builds throughout, like an instrument in a very cursed orchestra. Goth’s precision and vulnerability is what sets her apart, and her commitment to making her character human in a world of witches, sells the film’s emotional stakes.

Suspiria isn’t a “clutch your chest and scream” movie, it’s more of a “observe what’s going on and feel unsettled” experience (I say from firsthand experience.) But if you’re a fan of slow-burn tension and lingering intensity (and as a bonus, are a fan of Tilda Swinton playing multiple roles with perfection, and I mean perfection), then Suspiria is for you. I believe that the 2018 movie doesn’t replace the original; it feels like an homage and earns its existence in the horror genre (even with its intimidating runtime.) Where Mayday was messy, Suspiria is colder, and Goth matches that icy atmosphere, which makes this movie worth the ticket.

    4. Frankenstein (2025)

If you thought Goth was just a scream-queen (more coming on that in a bit), then you’d be mistaken. Her dual roles in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein prove that she’s a performer who can carry tragedy and emotional darkness with equal weight. Frankenstein isn’t just a simple monster story, it wants you to think about obsession and the real consequences that come with trying to play God. Goth plays Elizabeth with kindness and quiet strength around Victor Frankenstein’s hubris.

Though Goth isn’t the main character as such, her presence anchors the story, even amidst the Gothic architecture and lightning storms. While she played both Elizabeth and Claire (Frankenstein’s mother), it’s easy to differentiate between the two—not just because of the prosthetics, but because of how Goth transforms in each of those characters, stealing the show. Where in Infinity Pool, Goth revels in excess, she is measured and deliberate in Frankenstein. If you’re a fan of Gothic horror movies, or film adaptations of classic literature, then Frankenstein should be next on your list.

    3. MaXXXine (2024)

The top three spots on this list have to be taken by Ti West’s X trilogy. MaXXXine is the third and final instalment and is a direct follow-up to X (we’ll talk about it next.) Maxine Minx is back in the spotlight, trying to break into Hollywood in the mid-80s, with all its fame and danger, while a mysterious killer follows her every move. If you love stylish, self-aware thrillers and 1980s glamor, like Body Double, then this movie delivers it in spades, largely thanks to its titular character played by Goth.

She owns Maxine with an effortless mix of humor, audacity, and charisma; she’s part slasher survivor, part Hollywood anti-hero, and entirely unmissable. Sure, sometimes it feels like the film juggles meta commentary on fame and a slasher plot in a way that feels slightly unbalanced, but if you’re looking for a horror sequel that expands a world, while keeping the star in full control, then MaXXXine (and Goth!) own it. While MaXXXine doesn’t have the tight terror of X, the former is flashy and indulgent, and Goth genuinely thrives in it.

    2. X (2022)

If you thought Goth’s first dual role was in Frankenstein, then you’ll be surprised to know that she already did it 3 years ago in X, in which she plays the vulnerable final girl Maxine (who’s the main character in MaXXXine), and the elderly Pearl. When a crew of filmmakers go to rural Texas to shoot an adult film, they find that the property owners are deadlier than any of their plot twists. Fans of slasher films with twisted dark humor and high-energy terror will find plenty to love here.

Goth manages to dominate the screen with both her characters, and I personally felt that she carried the film with how seamlessly she handled that duality by shifting between menace and ferocity (and how good is Pearl’s raspy voice?) As Pearl, she gives the audience a taste of what made her so terrifying in the first place in her standalone film we’ll talk about next. Tonally, the film reminds me of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with similar menace and slasher tropes. X is a must watch for modern horror fans, and this one serves unpredictable horror terrain, with a side of blood and zero apologies.

    1. Pearl (2022)

Six months after the release of X, Pearl hit the theatres, this time with Goth starring and co-writing the film. Set decades before X, Pearl is a prequel where Goth reprises her role as the protagonist in her twenties. Pearl is an ambitious young woman trapped in a rural farm, dreaming of fame and freedom while grappling with obsession and rage, while slowly descending into madness. This is Goth at her most volatile, and gosh, she’s incredible. She transforms what should be a simple villain origin story into a character study, giving Pearl a depth most horror villains can only dream.

Pearl is the most raw title out of the trilogy, and Goth embodies Pearl, single-handedly carrying the film and taking the audience on a journey that’s both terrifying and mesmerizing (and makes you feel oddly sympathetic to a woman who is a killer, basically.) Pearl can be watched as a standalone, and anyone who likes villain origin stories mixed with tragedy and unhinged energy will love it. It wouldn’t be wrong of me to say that this is THE film people would equate with Goth (I mean, I was so impressed by that monologue and end credits scene) and anyone who underestimated her thus far, won’t again.

10 Movies Like Star Wars You Can Watch Online Right Now

    Keith Langston

    Keith Langston

    JustWatch Editor

Star Wars isn’t your typical sci-fi story, which often focuses on alien invasions or the rise of AI. Instead, the film is what’s known as a space opera. Space operas offer up grand, epic stories, often about galactic warfare and power struggles, while also focusing on romance and adventure. It’s a unique subgenre that separates it from the rest of sci-fi.

Fortunately for Star Wars fans, there are some other great space operas out there, as well as some other sci-fi movies with elements similar to George Lucas’ famous franchise. If you can’t wait for the next Star Wars installment to come out, check out our guide below to find out where you can stream more great movies like Star Wars online right now!

    Star Trek

Star Wars and Star Trek have been rivals for decades, but oftentimes fans of one franchise are also fans of the other – and it’s clear to see why. Star Trek also follows a group (in this case, Starfleet) who traverse the universe defending it from evil and working to restore peace and order. The main difference is that Star Wars is more centered on an epic war, whereas Star Trek is more about preventing a widespread war.

    Guardians of the Galaxy

In Guardians of the Galaxy, a ragtag group of misfits are brought together by chance and try to save the galaxy in a clunky old ship. If that isn’t 50 Shades of Star Wars, then I don’t know what is. The movie has since spawned two sequels, a holiday special, two Disney rides, and is known for its great soundtrack and fun action.

    Spaceballs

If you’re a Star Wars fan, it’s basically a sin to not watch Spaceballs. Written and directed by Mel Brooks (he also has a few roles in the film), Spaceballs is the ultimate Star Wars spoof. Why have Jabba the Hutt when you can have Pizza the Hutt? And why have Yoda when you can have Yogurt? Spaceballs also has a fantastic comedic cast including John Candy, Joan Rivers, and Rick Moranis.

    Hardware Wars

If Spaceballs is a little too high-budget for your tastes and you want some seriously niche fan-made hilarity, you need to watch Hardware Wars. Han Solo is now “Ham Salad” and the Millennium Falcon is replaced by a flying iron. Hardware Wars is a wildly hilarious no-budget ‘70s spoof of Star Wars that I promise will make you laugh (especially if you’re watching with a few friends and a few drinks).

    Titan A.E.

In Titan A.E., Earth has been destroyed by aliens, forcing what’s left of humanity to live as refugees in whatever dingy galactic outposts they can find. But the secret to human survival is hidden out in the cosmos and it’s up to an eclectic team of characters to find it. Titan A.E. is a great animated alternative to Star Wars and has a kickin’ soundtrack that includes Lit, Powerman 5000, and Luscious Jackson.

    Treasure Planet

Another great animated sci-fi epic is Treasure Planet. The movie is a galactic remake of the classic Treasure Island tale and follows Jim Hawkins (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who joins a motley crew to search the universe for treasure. The plot stays mostly the same as Treasure Island, but its new space setting makes it fun and unique.

    Wing Commander

Based on the ‘90s video game series that eventually starred Mark Hamill (see, there’s already a Star Wars connection), Wing Commander centers around the intergalactic war between humans and a feline-like alien race known as the Kilrathi. Upon its premiere, the movie was a total bomb, but in recent years viewers have come to love its campy oddity – very much in the same style as Star Wars’ own kitschy charm.

    Starship Troopers

Robert Heinlein’s original 1959 novel Starship Troopers was a swampy mess of pro-fascism and pro-war philosophy… but all told from a pro-America viewpoint. Unlike Heinlein, who never actually saw war, director Paul Verhoeven was born in Nazi-occupied Netherlands and set out to make his film version of Starship Troopers a complete rebuke of Heinlein’s worldview. The film is a total mockery of the pro-war crowd and shows that with war, there’s only one result: death and destruction, there is no winner. For a great space opera that has one hell of an underlying message, this is a must-watch.

    Serenity

Picking up after the events of the cult-favorite TV series Firefly, Serenity brought back much of the original cast like Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, and Summer Glau. The film follows the crew of the Serenity as they navigate the galaxy, trying to defeat the evil Reavers. It kind of feels like one giant episode of Firefly, which if you’re a Star Wars fan, is a great thing.

    Blue Harvest

Blue Harvest (Season 6) was a double episode-length Family Guy special that parodied Star Wars. Peter took the role of Solo, while Lois played Leia. Other iconic characters joined in too, with Quagmire playing C-3PO. Two more Star Wars specials followed with Something, Something, Something Darkside (Season 8) and It’s a Trap! (Season 9). Even if you’re not a Family Guy fan, the Star Wars specials are still really enjoyable.

10 TV Shows Like Bridgerton You Can Watch Online Right Now

    Rachel Ulatowski

Bridgerton is one of the most-watched Netflix series of all time. The show’s popularity is hardly surprising as it blends an alternate historical setting with romance, spice, secrets, and high society. For viewers looking for their next period romance drama fix after Bridgerton season 3, this guide will reveal where you can stream 10 more great TV shows like Bridgerton on platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and more!

Part of Bridgerton’s appeal is its ability to transport viewers into another timeline and social class. Another major part of the appeal is the fairytale-like love story that each Bridgerton sibling gets as they come of age.

For those seeking more of the romance and scandal Bridgerton offers, check out these 10 great shows, which are filled with unique historical settings, magical love stories, and plenty of juicy scandals.

    Anne with an E

Anne with an E reimagines Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables. The period drama is geared toward slightly older audiences than the books; it tells the origin story of the orphan Anne Shirley and delves into issues like sexuality, conformity, and childhood trauma. Like Bridgerton, it takes advantage of the power of reimagination and alternate histories, providing a wild and heartwarming coming-of-age story about a teenager growing up in 1896 Avonlea.

    Downton Abbey

Similar to Bridgerton, Downton Abbey follows the lives of a wealthy, aristocratic family, the Crawleys, in a specific British historical setting. Viewers who especially enjoy the historical element of Bridgerton will appreciate Downton Abbey’s more serious tone and intimate look into how real-life historical events affect the Crawley family's drama, struggles, and romances.

    Mary & George

Mary & George tells the stranger-than-fiction true story of how mother-and-son duo Mary (Julianne Moore) and George Villiers (Nicholas Galitzine) found an unconventional way to royalty during the reign of James VI and I (Tony Curran). Viewers looking for a show with the same playful tone and penchant for scandal as Bridgerton will love this wild and spicy period drama.

    Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

Viewers can’t get much closer to Bridgerton than the show’s official spinoff series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Several familiar Bridgerton faces, like Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and Lady Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), return in this prequel/spinoff series that serves as an alternate history of the rise of Queen Charlotte and her love story with King George III (Corey Mylchreest). Largely serving as a bonus Bridgerton story with some additional social commentary and historical reimagining, Queen Charlotte is everything fans could want in a spinoff series.

    Sanditon

Like Bridgerton, Sanditon is set in the Regency Era and is adapted from an unfinished manuscript by legendary romance writer Jane Austen. The series follows Charlotte Heywood's (Rose Williams) adventures in a quiet seaside village as she finds romance, ambition, and small-town secrets. With solid storytelling and a less modernized take on the Regency era, Sanditon is a strong alternative to Bridgerton.

    The Artful Dodger

Viewers seeking a period drama with more action and swashbuckling adventure will enjoy The Artful Dodger. It boasts the historical elements and forbidden romances of Bridgerton but also serves as a unique continuation of Jack Dawkins’ (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) story after the events of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.

    The Buccaneers

Similar to Bridgerton, The Buccaneers is a period drama that follows several wealthy young women as they navigate high society and seek partners for marriage. The twist is that these women are Americans, and their navigation of London's high society sparks an interesting cultural war. Given that these women are less accustomed to and less willing to follow the rules of high society, there’s even more room for scandal, humor, and feminism.

    The Gilded Age

Hailing from the same creator as Downton Abbey, The Gilded Age is an intriguing drama that strives for historical accuracy while tackling the titular American time period. While it’s largely a deep dive into the race and class conflicts of the time, it does have that Bridgerton-esque flair with its exploration of the clash between two powerful and wealthy families.

    The Great

The Great is a satirical and comedic reimagining of Catherine the Great's (Elle Fanning) rise. It takes Bridgerton’s alternate history premise and lighthearted tone and ramps it up several notches for a delightful and absurd spin on a historical story.

    Victoria

Viewers interested in what happens beyond Bridgerton’s Regency Era will be intrigued by Victoria, which examines the rise of Queen Victoria (Jenna Coleman) from the 1830s - 1850s. It finds a balance between historical accuracy and creative liberty and boasts phenomenal performances. The show especially boasts the ability to transport viewers into a different time and enthrall them with the period's history, art, and costumes.

10 Movies Like Jurassic Park You Can Watch Online Right Now

Giant dinosaurs eating people and destroying everything… what more could you want from a movie? Well, throw in some big stars like Laura Dern and Samuel L. Jackson, and have it all directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. It’s no wonder Jurassic Park grossed over $1 billion throughout its lifetime and spent a whopping 81 weeks in theaters during its initial run in 1993 (it’s since been re-released numerous times).

If you’re the type who likes giant animals destroying things, tons of dino madness, or even a bit of genetics gone wrong, you’re going to love these 10 movies. Check out our guide below to discover 10 movies like Jurassic Park you can watch right now using streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Max, Disney+ and many more!

    Godzilla

While he might not be a dinosaur… he’s basically kind of a dinosaur? Depending on which film/franchise you watch, Godzilla is either a genetically modified reptile who mutated from nuclear radiation, or he’s a previously unknown dinosaur lured by nuclear radiation. Either way, 2014’s Godzilla is big, awesome, and destroys everything in sight. Anyone who loves the dino carnage in Jurassic Park will surely be a Godzilla fan.

    King Kong

Unlike the new MonsterVerse storyline, in Peter Jackson’s 2005 film, Skull Island is inhabited by dinos that are modeled after real dinosaurs. For example, one of the big fight scenes involves Kong and a “V-Rex”, a creature heavily influenced by the real-life tyrannosaurids family. Other creatures in the movie are heavily inspired by dinosaurs like brontosauruses and velociraptors. For a more fantastical vision of dinosaurs, King Kong is a sure bet.

    65

In 65, Adam Driver plays a space pilot who crash lands on a mysterious planet filled with giant monsters. But it’s later revealed that he’s actually an alien who crash-landed on Earth in the days before the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. So the monsters are actually dinosaurs. Whereas Jurassic Park brought dinos into the modern world, 65 shows a person lost in the time of dinosaurs.

    Deep Blue Sea

While not technically centered around dinosaurs, Deep Blue Sea has a lot in common with Jurassic Park. In the movie, a trio of genetically modified mako sharks escape their enclosures during a storm and cause absolute bloodshed… sound familiar? Plus, sharks are considered “living dinosaurs” since they’ve been evolving for hundreds of millions of years, somehow outliving numerous mass extinction events. So when you think about it, Deep Blue Sea actually is about dinosaurs.

    Tammy and the T-Rex

Let’s face it, we all love the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. The name literally means “tyrant lizard”, so what’s not to love? For more T-Rex madness, check out Tammy and the T-Rex. In the film, a high schooler (Paul Walker) has his brain inserted into a giant robotic T-Rex, and then he sets out for revenge against everyone who wronged him. The film is campy, bonkers, wild, and tons of fun.

    Anaconda

Sure, it’s not technically a dinosaur. But a giant 25-foot anaconda is basically one. After all, there really was a prehistoric snake called the Titanboa which could reach 40 feet long, so the movie isn’t as fictitious as you might think. The film follows an Amazonian expedition that unfortunately encounters the giant anaconda, and before long, the researchers are fighting for their lives.

    Tremors

If giant snakes aren’t scary enough for you, how about creepy, slithery worms… that are the size of a school bus? In Tremors, a small desert town is terrorized by giant, burrowing (and predatory) wormlike creatures. Starring Kevin Bacon and Reba McEntire, the film is tons of fun and is an often-overlooked creature feature that deserves to be watched.

    Splice

In Jurassic Park, the real villains are the humans who try to play God. If you want another movie about scientists manipulating DNA for all the wrong reasons, look no further than Splice. In the movie, a scientific duo creates a human-animal hybrid… and that’s when things get weird. Not only does the creature kill the couple’s cat and have sex with Adrien Brody, but then she undergoes a Sequential hermaphroditic transformation and becomes male, and then tries to murder them both. Ah, nature!

    Cloverfield

Sure, Cloverfield is about an alien and not a dinosaur, but we all know damn well that dino fans can’t resist watching a giant 30-story alien monster destroy Manhattan. Plus, when Cloverfield came out in 2008, it was basically the lone monster movie of that decade and reignited interest in the genre. Without Cloverfield, we likely wouldn’t have Pacific Rim, the MonsterVerse, or Jurassic World.

    Congo

In Congo, an expedition into the Congolian rainforest discovers a rare breed of grey, murderous gorillas who inhabit a diamond mine. While the movie is pretty different from Jurassic Park, the lush jungle setting, animal enemies, and “nature finds a way” plotline definitely give off some major Jurassic Park vibes. Plus, it has Tim Curry, what could be better?

10 Movies Like Inside Out 2 You Can Watch Right Now (and Where to Stream Them)

    Keith Langston

    Keith Langston

    JustWatch Editor

Inside Out 2 is smashing box office records and once again putting Pixar at the top of Hollywood. The sequel to 2015’s Inside Out sees Riley entering her teenage years, which brings about tons of new emotions. Hailed as relatable and emotional, the movie has received glowing reviews.

Stacked with a great voice cast that includes Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Lewis Black, and Kyle McLachlan, Inside Out 2 brings out the powerful emotion and storytelling that made Pixar’s early hits like Toy Story and Finding Nemo so impactful.

If you loved the new film, check out these great movies like Inside Out 2 that you can watch online right now using popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, Max, Disney+ and more!

    Turning Red

Just as Inside Out 2 explores the complexities of teenage emotions, Pixar’s Turning Red follows Chinese-Canadian teenager Mei, who is forced to hide her interests and desires from her strict old-school parents. But holding her emotions in all the time ends up having a strange consequence… she turns into a giant red panda. Turning Red received great reviews and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2023 Oscars.

    Soul

In Soul, a struggling Jazz musician suddenly dies and his soul is sent to the “Great Beyond”, but instead he ends up in the “Great Before”, where souls go before they’re born into human bodies. Just as Inside Out 2 explores the harmony of all emotions, both good and bad, Soul does a great job of exploring the circle of life, death, and everything in between. Soul even won the Best Animated Feature Oscar in 2021.

    Mean Girls

Inside Out 2 shows Riley becoming a teenager, with all the new – and overwhelming – emotions that come with it. 2004’s Mean Girls similarly did a great job at showing what teenage life is like, revealing the catty, cliquey, and alienating aspects of high school – but all through the lens of a great, smart comedy, which has turned the movie into a downright classic.

    Riley’s First Date?

Originally released as part of the special features on the Inside Out DVD, Riley’s First Date? is a short film that takes place between the first and second movies. In the short, Riley hangs out with a boy, and her emotions (and parents) freak out. Despite being a short film, it even has a post-credits sequence.

    Toy Story 3

Just as Riley has grown up in Inside Out 2, Pixar’s Toy Story 3 shows what happens to Andy’s toys now that he’s heading for college. Filled with some surprisingly hard-hitting emotions, Toy Story 3 told a great story, all while exploring what it means to grow up and move on. Not only did Toy Story 3 win the Best Animated Feature Oscar in 2011, but it was also nominated for Best Picture.

    Camp

In Inside Out 2, Riley heads to camp where she experiences some new emotions like anxiety and embarrassment as she tries to fit in with her peers. 2003’s Camp is another great movie about a group of teenage misfits at camp who desperately want to fit in, stand out, and make new friends. Making it even funnier is that it’s no ordinary camp, but a theater camp in the Catskills. Camp also served as the breakout role for Anna Kendrick.

    Onward

In Onward, two teenage brothers set out to reanimate their dead father. It sounds pretty morbid for a Disney movie, but when you watch it, you’ll realize the film is actually about love, loss, and learning to embrace the life you have, even if it comes with some pain. Just like Inside Out 2, the film packs a hefty emotional punch.

    Elemental

Inside Out 2 personified emotions like Joy, Fear, and Anger, and Pixar’s 2023 hit Elemental personified the elements, bringing life and personality to fire, water, wind, and more. But beneath the surface, the movie is actually about immigration, discrimination, and diversity. Elemental became a sleeper hit at the box office, ultimately grossing almost $500 million.

    Strange World

Just as Riley experiences new emotions as a teenager, so does Ethan in Strange World. Not only is he on a quest to save his father, but he’s also got a crush on another boy. On top of its LGBTQ representation, Strange World was filled with adventure in a thrilling world inspired by classic Jules Verne stories. It also had a great voice cast that included Jake Gyllenhaal, Lucy Liu, and Gabrielle Union.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Based on the iconic 1998 YA novel of the same name, The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows a group of high schoolers who must navigate their teenage years and all the good and bad emotions that come with it. Fans of Inside Out 2 will relate to the way the film depicts being a teenager and all the elevated, joyous, messy emotions that are experienced during that time.

  • The Best Stanley Kubrick Movies, Ranked & Where to Watch Them

The Best Stanley Kubrick Movies, Ranked & Where to Watch Them

    Keith Langston

    Keith Langston

    JustWatch Editor

Throughout his career, Stanley Kubrick earned 13 Oscar nominations and six Golden Globe nominations for his work as a writer, director, and producer. Kubrick is certainly an auteur who pushed the envelope of filmmaking, censorship, and cinematography. Both loved and loathed, it’s impossible to deny Kubrick’s lasting Hollywood legacy. Check out our guide below to discover Stanley Kubrick’s best movies and where to watch them using popular streaming services like Max, Netflix and more!

Stanley Kubrick’s best film by far is 1968’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Written, produced, and directed by Kubrick, the movie follows two astronauts on a mission to Jupiter. But soon the onboard AI, named HAL 9000, becomes murderous and a new mission objective is revealed. On top of the overarching plot, the movie touches upon tons of abstract issues and themes like religion, birth and rebirth, humanity’s place in the cosmos, hubris, and more.

2001 can be considered “arthouse” and definitely leaves itself open to interpretation, so everyone will leave with their own conclusions. But its stunning visual style and lofty premise make the film an undeniable masterpiece.

Taking the #2 spot on the list is Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 interpretation of Stephen King’s The Shining. Viewers might be surprised to know that the movie is actually quite different from King’s novel, and upon its release critics were heavily divided on the film, with some flat-out panning it as awful. King himself even had issues with the movie, previously telling Deadline, “It’s like a big, beautiful Cadillac with no engine inside it.”

The reason why is because, just like many of Kubrick’s films, The Shining doesn’t always reveal its meaning so easily, and instead is filled with haunting, sometimes bizarre imagery that continues to stick with viewers to this day. From the twin girls, to the elevator full of blood, and Roger the Dog Man, even if you don’t fully understand what Stanley Kubrick’s film is trying to say, you can’t help but be creeped out by its visceral imagery and setting. There’s a good reason why The Shining has since become a horror classic.

Also ranking high on the list is Stanley Kubrick’s anti-war epic Dr. Strangelove (fully titled Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb). Released in 1964, the movie depicts a fictionalized nuclear war between the USA and the Soviet Union. But what makes it different from other war films is that Dr. Strangelove doesn’t showcase war as some glorious, noble pursuit by heroes, and instead depicts the military and government as inept fools who are so delusionally obsessed with power and winning that they don’t even care they’re eradicating all life on Earth in the process.

In the modern age, a film like this would be controversial, but in 1964 when Dr. Strangelove premiered (during the height of the Cold War), it was downright shocking and seen by some as anti-American. But Kubrick stood strong with his vision of what unchecked warfare would look like and Dr. Strangelove ultimately became a massive success, earning four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Here’s the full ranking of Stanley Kubrick’s best movies

    1. 2001: A Space Odyssey

    2. The Shining

    3. Dr. Strangelove

    4. A Clockwork Orange

    5. Spartacus

    6. Full Metal Jacket

    7. Barry Lyndon

    8. Eyes Wide Shut

Where to watch the best Stanley Kubrick movies online

Stanley Kubrick sadly died in 1999 at the age of 70, just a few months before Eyes Wide Shut hit theaters. Though the filmmaker is gone, his legacy continues to live on thanks to his great filmography that pushed boundaries and told unique stories. Use our guide below to find out where you can watch all of Stanley Kubrick’s best movies online!

    • Bridgerton season 3, part 2 - June 13, 2024: After waiting almost two years for a third season of Netflix’s hit period drama, fans finally got to revisit their favorite Regency-era series in May. But Netflix subscribers, who usually get access to entire seasons on the same day, have had to wait another month for the second half of season 3. After part 1 concluded with a cliff-hanger ending, part 2 of Bridgerton season 3 will surely be among the most talked about events on streaming services this month.

    • Hit Man - June 7, 2024: Netflix has teamed up with award-winning director Richard Linklater for his latest movie, Hit Man. Known for a diverse filmography that incudes School of Rock, Boyhood and the Before trilogy, Linklater’s latest movie is an off-beat comedy drama starring Glen Powell (Anyone but You, Top Gun: Maverick). The movie tells the stranger-than-fiction true story of Gary Johnson, a man who begins a double-life as a phony hit man.

  • Where To Watch Every Star Trek TV Show and Movie in Order

Where To Watch Every Star Trek TV Show and Movie in Order

    Rachel Ulatowski

Paramount has ushered in a new era of Star Trek. Following the conclusion of Star Trek: Discovery, the studio ordered multiple new series and began developing the TV movie Star Trek: Chapter 31, which will star Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh. Given its revitalization, now is the perfect time to delve into the franchise. This guide will demonstrate where and how to watch every Star Trek movie and TV show in order.

The Star Trek franchise began in 1966 with the premiere of Star Trek, also known as Star Trek: The Original Series. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the sci-fi series follows Captain Kirk (William Shatner) and First Officer Spock (Leonard Nimoy) as they guide the Enterprise on a mission of intergalactic space exploration. While the show received poor ratings during its three-season run, broadcast syndication and reruns breathed new life into the franchise, garnering it a cult following after its 1969 cancelation.

Following the show’s re-evaluation, Roddenberry convinced Paramount to continue the original series on the big screen with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Although it wasn’t a huge box-office hit, it did well enough to earn five more sequels, for which Roddenberry was a consultant.

As Star Trek: The Original Series remained one of the most popular syndicated TV shows years after its release, Paramount and Gene Roddenberry began working on another live-action series: Star Trek: The Next Generation. The series takes place aboard a new Enterprise one century after the events of the original series, with Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) at the helm. Along with his crew, Captain Picard carries on his predecessors' mission of exploring new worlds.

Star Trek: The Next Generation also continued on the big screen after its conclusion, receiving four feature films. While films like Star Trek: First Contact were well-received, Star Trek: Nemesis was a critical and financial failure. The failure of Star Trek: Nemesis was followed by another blow as the prequel series Star Trek: Enterprise was canceled amid low ratings.

Paramount switched directions on the big screen and released what many consider a “reboot” trilogy. However, the films aren’t an official reboot as they merely explore an alternate timeline known as the Kelvin Timeline and see Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto take over as Captain Kirk and Spock, respectively.

While the Kelvin Timeline film series played out, Star Trek went on a hiatus on the small screen. After a 12-year break, Paramount revived the franchise, aiming to create Star Trek shows specifically for its streaming service, CBS All Access (now Paramount+). In 2017, it released Star Trek: Discovery, followed by a new round of shows, including Star Trek: Picard, which continued Captain Picard’s story after Star Trek: The Next Generation.

There are no signs of the franchise slowing down, with the first TV movie, Star Trek: Chapter 31, on the way and Paramount showing interest in further Star Trek TV films, theatrical films, and shows.

How to watch the Star Trek franchise in order

Viewers can watch the Star Trek franchise either by release date order or chronologically. Those hoping to watch chronologically should know that the Kelvin Timeline trilogy takes place outside of the timeline of the other shows and movies, so they can technically be watched at any point. Star Trek: Short Treks also does not fit in the chronological order as it is an anthology series. Additionally, viewers may have to jump between shows occasionally due to time jumps in series like Star Trek: Discovery.

See below for the chronological order of every Star Trek show and movie:

    • Star Trek: Enterprise

    • Star Trek: Discovery Seasons 1 - 2

    • Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

    • Star Trek: The Original Series

    • Star Trek: The Animated Series

    • Star Trek: The Motion Picture

    • Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

    • Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

    • Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

    • Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

    • Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

    • Star Trek: The Next Generation

    • Star Trek: Generations

    • Star Trek: First Contact

    • Star Trek: Insurrection

    • Star Trek: Nemesis

    • Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

In 2013, as superhero mania began to dominate Hollywood, another group of heroes emerged: the PAW Patrol. Led by the young boy Ryder, the team consisted of some unexpected members…puppies. There was Chase the police German Shepherd; Marshall, the firefighting dalmatian; and Skye, the piloting cockapoo, among others. But this kids’ show ended up taking the world by storm, eventually becoming a massive franchise. Use our guide below to find out where you can watch every entry in the PAW Patrol franchise in order using popular streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Paramount+ and more!

The entire franchise began in 2013 with the original PAW Patrol series. The show is still airing, currently on its 10th season. So far, PAW Patrol has amassed over 250 episodes, and with its enduring popularity, season 11 is on the way. In each episode, the PAW Patrol must save someone and usually fight off some kind of “bad guy”. But being a kids show (mostly for very young kids) the series is often free of violence, with the action being more wholesome.

Starting in 2016, PAW Patrol began producing hour-long films. In North America, they were released as TV movies, but in other parts of the world, they actually went to theaters, sometimes grossing millions of dollars. Some of the most popular movie specials were Ready, Race, Rescue! and Jet to the Rescue.

But in 2021, PAW Patrol finally got their first official, big-screen debut with Paw Patrol: The Movie. In the film, the PAW Patrol discovers their arch-nemesis Mayor Humdinger has just been elected to lead the nearby Adventure City. Sensing the coming mischief, the team heads out to save the city. Once again, the conflict and action are all super family-friendly, with one of the disasters being that the mayor has constructed a roller coaster-style loop for the city’s subway (which to me sounds like a lot of fun).

In 2023, PAW Patrol returned with another major film, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. In the film, a strange meteor crashes into Earth. Inside are several crystals, each giving the pups superpowers. But with their new abilities, the pups must face their biggest foe yet. The movie was a massive hit, grossing more than $202 million at the worldwide box office. That same year PAW Patrol also received the spinoff series Rubble & Crew, which has also been renewed for a new season.

PAW Patrol franchise in release order:

    • PAW Patrol (2013-Present)
    • PAW Patrol: Mighty Pups (2018)
    • Ready, Race, Rescue! (2019)
    • Jet to the Rescue (2020)
    • PAW Patrol: The Movie (2021)
    • Rubble & Crew (2023-Present)
    • PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (2023)

A third PAW Patrol movie is in the works and according to Variety, it’s set to hit theaters sometime in 2026. Until then, check out our guide below to find out where to watch the entire PAW Patrol franchise in order.

  • Every James Cameron Movie Ranked (and Where to Watch Them)

Every James Cameron Movie Ranked (and Where to Watch Them)

    Keith Langston

If you look at the five highest-grossing movies of all time, three of them have been directed by James Cameron. He knows how to strike the perfect balance between action, emotion, strong characters, and visual spectacle, creating an entire filmography of must-watch films. But what are Cameron’s best movies? Check out our guide below to find out where to watch every James Cameron movie (and discover which are his best).

There aren’t really any “bad” James Cameron movies. The director has somehow managed to create hit after hit, giving audiences four decades of masterpieces. But if someone had to choose, Cameron’s first film Piranha II: The Spawning could be considered his “worst”. The movie was a sequel to the schlocky 1978 horror hit Piranha, which was all about… killer piranhas. This time around, the piranhas are even more deadly and they can fly! Somehow, the movie is so bombastic and ridiculous that it’s actually hard to consider it a bad movie. It’s so insane that it becomes laugh-out-loud funny and is great to watch with friends.

On the other end of the Cameron spectrum, we have his best movies. Taking the #1 spot as the best James Cameron movie ever is Aliens. This sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 horror classic follows Ellen Ripley as she discovers that terraformers have attempted to colonize LV-426 – the same moon the xenomorph came from. Obviously, things don’t go well for the terraformers and it’s up to Ripley and her team to save them. Aliens swaps out some of the suspense from the original for more action and adventure, creating a unique action-horror movie that works flawlessly. Aliens isn’t just a great sequel, it also complements the original perfectly by shifting genres, making both films equally amazing for completely different reasons.

And of course, we can’t talk about James Cameron without talking about Titanic. The film takes the #2 spot on our list. For over a decade it was the highest-grossing movie ever and it was the first film to make over $1 billion at the box office. Staying true to Cameron’s genre-blending style, Titanic was loaded with romance, drama, and action. The movie tells a romantic love story between two passengers, Jack and Rose. But as the ship begins to sink, Titanic’s vibe completely changes, becoming a hardcore disaster film. Viewers who aren’t into romantic dramas will still be captivated by the unbelievably true disaster the doomed ocean liner experienced in the middle of the Atlantic.

Also ranking high on the list is Cameron’s often-overlooked hit The Abyss. Released in 1989 (just a few months before the Cold War ended), the movie imagines a near-future where Americans and Soviets are racing to retrieve a sunken submarine. Making everything worse is a looming hurricane that’s barreling toward both nations’ fleets. When America finally gets a dive team into the ocean, they begin experiencing strange phenomena and seeing unknown lifeforms. With claustrophobic conditions, a massive storm, and the excitement of unknown aliens, The Abyss is a fantastically captivating movie. It even won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects at the 1990 ceremony.

Here’s the full ranking of James Cameron’s films:

    1. Aliens

    2. Titanic

    3. T2: Judgement Day

    4. The Abyss

    5. Avatar: The Way of Water

    6. The Terminator

    7. Avatar

    8. True Lies

    9. Piranha II: The Spawning

Where can I watch James Cameron movies online?

Cameron fans have a lot to look forward to since the filmmaker currently has two more Avatar sequels in development, with the next one expected to hit theaters in late 2025. Until then, check out our guide below to find out where you can stream all of James Cameron’s movies on popular platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Max, and more.

15 of the Best Steven Spielberg Movies (and Where to Watch Them)

    Keith Langston

    Keith Langston

    JustWatch Editor

Steven Spielberg is one of (if not the) best directors in Hollywood history. He’s been nominated for a lofty 22 Oscars and has won three. On top of that, he’s directed some of the biggest blockbusters ever that have grossed billions upon billions of dollars and become cultural landmarks that have shaped not just entertainment, but our daily lives. So, what are the filmmaker’s best movies? Use our guide below to discover the best Steven Spielberg movies and where to stream them.

You can’t talk about Spielberg without talking about Jaws. Centered around a New England town that’s battling a man-eating shark, Jaws is so terrifying that many horror fans even consider it a horror movie. The shark animatronic was a modern marvel at the time and some scenes still look downright terrifying to this day. But what makes the movie even more impressive is that it was Spielberg’s first major film. He was just 26 years old when he directed the feature. The movie was so powerful that it actually fueled society’s paranoia about sharks and led to a massive increase in the killings of great whites. Spielberg regrets the impact his film had on wildlife, but creating such an evocative story is impressive nonetheless.

Spielberg is also credited with reinvigorating society’s interest in dinosaurs thanks to Jurassic Park. The movie centers around an island theme park where resurrected dinosaurs are the main attraction. Naturally, it all goes to hell and the dinos break out of their cages, causing absolute chaos. With great actors, a great story, and great special and practical effects, Jurassic Park continues to be a beloved movie that fans watch over and over again. A new film in the franchise is also currently in the pre-production stage, so more dino chaos is on the way!

On top of his blockbuster hits, Spielberg is also known for his award-winning masterpieces (many of which also became blockbuster hits). His first Oscar nomination came in 1978 for Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The film shows what humanity’s first encounter with extraterrestrials might be like, and it’s filled with a great sense of wonder… and suspense. That combination makes Close Encounters a unique entry in the alien genre because it isn’t about the horror of an alien takeover, but instead focuses on the mix of fear, curiosity, and excitement that people would likely have.

Spielberg’s most lauded film though is 1994’s Schindler’s List. The film tells the true story of Oskar Schindler, a man who saved over a thousand Jewish people during the holocaust by bribing Nazi leaders to assure their safety. The movie was met with universal praise and received 12 Oscar nominations. Schindler’s List went on to win seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Director - both for Spielberg since he directed and produced the film.

After a 13-year hiatus from directing, legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola has returned with a new film, Megalopolis, which is already causing a stir following its Cannes premiere. A prominent figure in the New Hollywood film movement, Coppola is often hailed as one of the greatest directors of all time for his cinematic masterpieces with larger-than-life characters and rich stories. For those interested in delving into his work before Megalopolis, this guide will demonstrate where to watch his 15 best films.

Even those unfamiliar with Coppola will likely have heard of his best film, The Godfather, which is often hailed as one of the greatest movies ever made. The Godfather is credited with revolutionizing the gangster genre as it humanized the Corleones and their love of family. Additionally, the storytelling is rich, the criminals larger-than-life, and the performances of Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as Michael Corleone blew audiences away.

While the sequel, The Godfather II, couldn’t match the original's groundbreaking nature and historical significance, it is easily one of the greatest movie sequels ever made. The film arguably adds more depth and an even darker tone as it continues to delve into Michael’s deterioration intercut with masterfully crafted flashbacks of Vito’s (Robert de Niro) life.

Another movie that almost eclipsed The Godfather in quality and impact is Apocalypse Now. It is based on Joseph Conrad’s thought-provoking novel Heart of Darkness but switches the setting to the Vietnam War. Featuring the talents of Brando, Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, and Laurence Fishburne, Apocalypse Now is one of the most haunting, mesmerizing, and unforgettable war epics of all time.

Although often overshadowed by The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, The Conversation also warrants special mention in discussions of Coppola’s greatest works. The movie follows surveillance expert Harry Caul (Gene Hackman), who faces an intense moral dilemma when he realizes the couple he has been tailing may be at the center of a murder plot. It’s a simple plot, but the layers to the story are numerous as viewers delve deep into the nightmarish sense of paranoia and probe questions of morals and power.

In addition to four of the greatest movies of all time, Coppola has made many more well-received hits ranging from the zany and amusing You’re a Big Boy Now to the experimental road trip drama The Rain People to the horror vampire film Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

If you’re looking for more of Coppola’s greatest works, see below for where to watch his 15 best films ranked by their quality, popularity, and historical significance.

  • Where To Watch Every Star Wars Live-Action and Animated TV Show in Order

Where To Watch Every Star Wars Live-Action and Animated TV Show in Order

    Rachel Ulatowski

The Star Wars franchise recently expanded with the new live-action TV series The Acolyte and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The Acolyte takes place 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, making it one of many series to take advantage of the vast galaxy and timeline the franchise has to work with. Meanwhile, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew offers a coming-of-age series to appeal to the younger side of Star Wars’ broad audience.

For those interested in further exploring Star Wars’ TV show collection, this guide will demonstrate how to watch every live-action and animated series in order and where to find them streaming online.

While most are familiar with the Disney+ Star Wars shows, the franchise moved to the small screen long before Disney’s acquisition. By 1985, sister animated series Ewoks and Star Wars: Droids arrived on ABC and followed the adventures of the Ewoks, R2-D2, and C-3PO. However, it would be over two decades until the next TV show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, arrived.

Fortunately, by 2003, George Lucas had established Lucasfilm Animation, which rang in a new era of Star Wars TV shows. Star Wars: The Clone Wars follows Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano between the events of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. It went on to earn high critical acclaim for its groundbreaking visuals, voice performances, and story. Star Wars: The Clone Wars later received an equally well-received spinoff series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

Another prominent animated series is Star Wars Rebels, which follows Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, and the rest of the Ghost Crew as they retaliate against the Galactic Empire’s oppressive rule following Order 66.

In 2019, the first live-action Star Wars series arrived with The Mandalorian. Set after the Galactic Empire's fall, The Mandalorian won fans over with its tale of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), a bounty hunter entrusted with protecting a Force-sensitive youngling, Grogu, from the remnants of the Empire. The series also brought back Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) from the Star Wars movies and transitioned Ahsoka to live-action, portrayed by Rosario Dawson. Out of The Mandalorian’s success came the spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.

The franchise has also explored additional periods through its shows, such as the Rebellion with Star Wars: Andor or post-Order 66 in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

How to watch all the Star Wars TV shows and in order

Unlike Marvel or DC, Star Wars TV shows aren’t divided into different universes. Almost all the shows are largely considered canon except the early Ewoks and Droids series and the anthology series Star Wars: Visions. Meanwhile, every series fits somewhere within the overall Star Wars timeline, making it possible to watch them in chronological order. Star Wars: Visions is the only show that doesn’t fit in the chronological order since it spans multiple timelines. Otherwise, here are all the Star Wars TV shows chronologically:

    • Young Jedi Adventures
    • The Acolyte
    • Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars
    • Star Wars: Droids
    • Star Wars: Tales of the Empire
    • Star Wars: The Bad Batch
    • Obi-Wan Kenobi
    • Star Wars Rebels
    • Star Wars: Andor
    • Ewoks
    • The Mandalorian
    • The Book of Boba Fett
    • Ahsoka
    • Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
    • Star Wars Resistance

The problem with chronological order is that many series take place over multiple years, are difficult to place because they are anthologies, or, in the case of The Mandalorian season 3 and Ahsoka season 1, sometimes run concurrently with one another. Hence, another approach is to watch by the release date order below:

George Miller easily has one of the most unique directorial careers in Hollywood history. On one hand, he’s known for directing all the Mad Max movies, making him one of the most prolific action directors ever. But did you know that he’s also directed quite a few successful family films as well? Remember watching Happy Feet… that movie about the singing penguins? Yep, that’s George Miller too.

So, check out our guide below to find out where you can watch all of George Miller’s best movies, from action hits to kid’s favorites and more.

Miller is best known for creating, writing, and directing Mad Max. The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic Australia where the overconsumption of fossil fuels has created so much pollution that ecocide has virtually destroyed all plant life on Earth, forcing humans to battle for the few precious resources that are left. Unlike many franchises, where the directors are constantly swapped out, Miller has had full control of Mad Max since the beginning and has stayed on as director for every film in the franchise, including Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He’ll also be directing the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road sequel, Mad Max: The Wasteland.

In 1998, Miller went in a completely different direction when he wrote and directed the children’s classic Babe: Pig in the City, which was a sequel to 1995’s Babe (a movie that he wrote). This time around, Babe finds himself lost in the big city and eventually goes on a whirlwind adventure with the help of some of his animal pals.

Miller’s newfound reputation as a family film director grew even bigger in 2006 when he released the hit film Happy Feet. The movie was a jukebox musical following the life of penguins… who happen to absolutely love singing and dancing. The movie had a huge cast of A-List talent like Elijah Wood, Nicole Kidman, and Hugh Jackman, and featured songs like ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ by Elvis and ‘Somebody to Love’ by Queen. The movie became a huge hit, grossing more than $384 million at the box office. In 2011, Miller returned to write, produce, and direct its sequel, Happy Feet Two.

One often-overlooked project of Miller’s was his involvement in 1983’s Twilight Zone: The Movie. The film was an anthology feature with different directors creating vignettes, similar to the TV show. For the film, Miller remade the iconic 1963 episode ‘Nightmare at 20,000 ft.’ where William Shatner played an airplane passenger who sees a gremlin on the wing of the plane. In Miller’s remake, John Lithgow takes over Shatner’s role and thanks to newer practical effects, the gremlin looks much more realistic and terrifying.

This guide will show you the best Anya Taylor-Joy movies, including hits like The Witch and The Gorge, and let you know where they’re all streaming online.

In 2021, Anya Taylor-Joy arrived at the Golden Globes with two nominations: One for her film Emma and the other for her hit miniseries The Queen’s Gambit. Later that night she won the Globe for The Queen’s Gambit. That same year she also received a SAG award and an Emmy nomination. Since then, Taylor-Joy has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood. But did you know she’s been starring in fantastic movies and TV series for almost a decade? Check out our guide below to discover Anya Taylor-Joy’s best movies and TV shows so far and where to stream them online right now.

The actress had her first big breakout role in 2015’s The VVitch. The movie centers around a family in the 1600s who have been banished from a Puritan village. Now forced to live in a remote homestead, the family battles with famine and starvation, pushing them to madness. Making everything even more dire… there might be a witch secretly watching the family, relishing in their downfall. The movie was a hit and cemented the young studio A24 as a real power player in Hollywood.

No list of Taylor-Joy’s best roles would be complete without The Queen’s Gambit, which served as her most notable role to date, launching her onto Hollywood’s A-List. In the acclaimed miniseries, she plays a young orphan who becomes a chess prodigy. But she also battles with depression and drug addiction. As her chess fame grows, so do her problems. The series won a boatload of awards, including Best Limited Series at the Emmys.

A role that many fans often forget about is Taylor-Joy’s turn as Casey Cooke in M. Night Shyamalan’s hit film Split, and its sequel Glass. In Split, Taylor-Joy is kidnapped by a man suffering from multiple-personality disorder. Some of his personalities seek to harm, while others want to help. She returns for the sequel Glass, which also brought back Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson from Unbreakable, bringing all three superhumans together and concluding the Unbreakable trilogy.

In 2023, Taylor-Joy also had a prominent voice role in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, where she portrayed the iconic Princess Peach. The movie brought tons of famous Nintendo characters to life, like Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and more. It was also a massive blockbuster hit, grossing $1.3 billion at the box office. Nintendo has also announced that the cast will return for a sequel in 2026, so Mario fans have a lot to look forward to.

Joy also had a starring role in the Apple TV+ hit The Gorge. In the film, she stars alongside Miles Teller as two snipers who are tasked with keeping guard of a gorge in the middle of a dense forest. But this is no normal gorge, it’s filled with secrets, conspiracies…and monsters. The Gorge blends horror, action, and even romance, making it a really great time. Plus, it’s amped up even more with a fantastic rock soundtrack.

Where To Watch the 10 Best Michael Bay Movies, Ranked

    Rachel Ulatowski

    Rachel Ulatowski

    JustWatch Editor

From Bad Boys to Transformers, Michael Bay is the director behind some of the most well-known action franchises and film series. While critics often erroneously reduce his work to little more than explosions and formulaic action heroes, Bay’s craftsmanship and technical filmmaking skills are paralleled by few in the industry. All of his films have a distinct style and demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of every aspect of filmmaking, from set scenery to camera speed and angles.

For those interested in the films that best illustrate Bay’s skill as a director, this guide will explore his 10 best movies and where to watch them.

In recent years, Bay has shifted more to producing. He is the producer behind two of the year's most-anticipated movies: A Quiet Place: Day One and Transformers One. For the purposes of this article, though, we’ll be focusing on the films that gained him prominence as a director.

One of Michael Bay’s most enduring films is the one that started his career: Bad Boys. The 1995 buddy cop comedy starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence earned praise for its frantic pace, the dynamic between Smith and Lawrence, the extended action sequences, and the hilarious tale of two reckless detectives searching for missing narcotics. It was a substantial enough commercial success to earn three sequels, although Bay only returned to direct Bad Boys II, which further ramped up the action, dark humor, and stunning visual effects.

After his directorial debut, Bay followed up with arguably the best film of his career, The Rock. Boasting a stacked cast including Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery, the film tells the thrilling story of an Alcatraz break-in. It boasts some of the most extravagant action sequences of any Bay movie and runs at a pace that keeps the adrenaline pumping for every minute of its runtime.

Meanwhile, Pain & Gain and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi are notable as Bay’s most mature and sophisticated movies. Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Mackie, and Dwayne Johnson, sees Bay expertly craft his filmmaking to convey the satirical and dark tone of the story, while 13 Hours thrillingly and heartbreakingly captures the 2012 Benghazi attacks.

Bay’s penchant for groundbreaking visual effects and larger-than-life action plots was also well-suited for the exhilarating and visually stunning Transformers. At the same time, his love of breakneck pacing elevated the Jake Gyllenhaal-led Ambulance to one unforgettable car chase thriller.

If you’re looking for more unforgettable action thrillers in Bay’s signature filmmaking style, read on for his ten best movies, ranked from the best.

  • Where to Watch Guillermo del Toro’s Best Movies and TV Shows

Where to Watch Guillermo del Toro’s Best Movies and TV Shows

    Keith Langston

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is known for many things – he’s noted for his unique style that often takes inspiration from dark fairytales. He’s also an integral figure in the horror genre thanks to his numerous horror films (plus, he often cites classic horror movies as his inspirations), and in more recent years, he’s become known as an award-winning director who isn’t just popular with genre fans, but who can hold his own against the Hollywood greats.

If you want to watch del Toro’s best movies and TV shows, use our guide below to find out where they are streaming.

Guillermo del Toro’s trademark film is easily Pan’s Labyrinth. While it wasn’t del Toro’s first movie, it was the first to earn him international acclaim. In the film, a young girl escapes her domineering stepfather by entering into a fairytale world…but not everything about the realm is good. She encounters both light and dark, good and bad, and friends and enemies. The movie was lauded for its gorgeous visuals and raw, emotional story. At the 79th Oscars, Pan’s Labyrinth received six nominations and won three awards, including for Best Cinematography.

But long before Pan’s Labyrinth, one of del Toro’s earliest hits was the sci-fi horror film Mimic. The movie takes place in New York City, where a deadly disease spread by cockroaches is killing hundreds of children. To stop the spread, scientists bioengineer a new bug that secretes a toxin that kills off the cockroaches. But some years later, the new bugs have continued to evolve and are now hunting humans. Though a moderate success in theaters, Mimic became a huge hit in the rental market and is now a cult classic among horror fans.

More recently, the film that most fans know del Toro for is The Shape of Water. At the 90th Oscars, the movie was nominated for a whopping 13 awards and won two major categories: Best Director for del Toro and Best Picture. The film centers around a lonely employee of a secret government facility during the Cold War. One day she discovers that the compound is hiding a dark secret… a mysterious sea creature that’s being kept trapped in a tank. Heavily inspired by Creature from the Black Lagoon, the movie took horror elements and blended them with a love story.

del Toro also used his love of monsters to create another hit movie: Pacific Rim. Heavily inspired by Godzilla and other Japanese monster movies, the film sees humanity fight off towering monsters known as kaijus using giant mechs called jaegers. Stylistically, it’s pretty different from most of del Toro’s films, but it very much plays into the filmmaker’s love of classic monster movies. For fans of the MonsterVerse, Pacific Rim is a must-watch.

The Best Luca Guadagnino Movies to Watch After Challengers (And Where to Stream Them)

    Keith Langston

This guide will show you the best Luca Guadagnino movies and let you know where they’re all streaming online right now.

The tennis drama Challengers became a surprise hit film in 2024 thanks to a great performance from Zendaya and the bubbling queer sexual tension between Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist that director Luca Guadagnino is famous for. If you loved the pulpy, exciting melodrama of Challengers, check out our guide below to find out where you can watch more of Guadagnino’s best movies and TV shows.

Luca Guadagnino began his career in Italy and has directed everything from commercials to music videos, documentaries, short films, and feature-length movies. His first major hit around the globe was 2009’s I Am Love. An official selection at the Sundance, Berlin, Venice, and Toronto film festivals, the movie centers around a woman (Tilda Swinton) who begins a new life in Italy and marries into a wealthy family. But soon, she begins having an affair with one of her son’s friends. Filled with sexual tension, lies, and lust, the movie is salacious and captivating.

Arguably the most famous Guadagnino film is Call Me By Your Name. In the film, a 24-year-old (Armie Hammer) arrives in Italy to help a professor with a project during the early ‘80s. Soon, he begins to fall in love with the professor’s 17-year-old son (Timothée Chalamet). The film received praise for its sexual tension and emotional exploration of what life was like for closeted men who fall in love. Call Me By Your Name received ample amounts of praise and was even nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Chalamet would team up with the director again a few years later for Bones and All.

Guadagnino also directed the 2018 remake of Suspiria, a film about a reclusive German dance school that’s actually run by a coven of bloodthirsty witches. Despite being a horror movie, Suspiria was praised for its cinematography and gorgeous visuals. It also had an all-star cast that included Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, and Dakota Johnson.

2024 was a huge year for Guadagnino. On top of Challengers making almost $100 million at the box office, the director also released Queer, starring Daniel Craig. In the film, Craig stars as an American expat living in Mexico who finds himself falling for a younger man. Queer earned numerous awards, including a Golden Globe and SAG nomination for Craig.

Maybe it’s because it stars Zendaya, or perhaps it’s the now-infamous ménage à trois scene, but Challengers has stolen the spotlight as one of the buzziest movies of the spring. If you liked it, check out our guide below to discover more great tennis movies you can watch right now. From a biopic starring Emma Stone to a Kirsten Dunst rom-com, and more.

What are some of the best tennis movies?

If you want to watch a great tennis movie, one of the most notable is 2017’s Battle of the Sexes. The film tells the true story of when Billie Jean King played a match against tennis legend Bobby Riggs. King ended up beating Riggs, which became a monumental event in the tennis world, proving that women could hold their own against the men and should be taken seriously in the sport. Emma Stone played King and Steve Carrell portrayed Riggs. In 2001, a made-for-TV movie called When Billie Beat Bobby covered the same event, this time with Holly Hunter portraying King. The movie was well-received and Hunter even earned an Emmy nomination for her role.

Another high-profile tennis biopic is 2021’s King Richard, which starred Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena. The movie follows the Williams sisters as they grow up under the watchful eye of their dad who is determined to turn them into tennis pros, no matter how hard it might be. The film was nominated for six Oscars, with Smith winning for Best Actor. However, that same night Smith had the infamous “Oscars slap” incident and was promptly banned from the Academy Awards for a decade.

For a more romanticized tennis film, check out 2004’s Wimbledon. The movie stars Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany as two tennis players at Wimbledon. Bettany is a fading star, while Dunst is a rising tennis competitor. The two meet, sparks fly, drama is had, and the duo must navigate how to win their matches despite all the distractions of their relationship. The movie was loaded with other stars too, like Sam Neill and Jon Favreau.

Another movie set in Wimbledon is 7 Days in Hell. The film is based on the unbelievably true story of the longest match in tennis history. Played in 2010 between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, a series of constant ties forced the game to be played for more than 11 hours over three days. The movie starred Andy Samberg and Kit Harington as two fictitious tennis players (who are based on Isner and Mahut) who get locked into a neverending tennis match.

The 10 Best Jason Momoa Films, Ranked (And Where To Watch Them)

    Rachel Ulatowski

    Rachel Ulatowski

Jason Momoa has quickly become one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood, boasting roles in numerous high-profile franchises, including Dune, the DCEU, Game of Thrones, and Fast & Furious. He will also star in the Minecraft movie next year alongside Jack Black. For viewers who wish to acquaint themselves with Momoa’s work before his next projects arrive, this guide will rank his ten best movies and detail where to watch them.

Momoa’s first major film role was as the titular character in Conan the Barbarian (2011), a reimagining of the film of the same name starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. While Momoa’s acting was praised, the movie itself was a critical and commercial failure. Fortunately, Conan the Barbarian didn’t derail his career.

He bounced back with the underrated Bullet to the Head in 2012, where he proved his skill as an action star alongside Sylvester Stallone. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that he had his breakthrough with Aquaman.

Aquaman became the DCEU’s highest-grossing film to date, surpassing $1 billion at the box office. Momoa received high praise for embodying the half-human, half-Atlantean superhero Arthur Curry. He reprised his role as Curry in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, as well as Aquaman’s sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which failed to match the success of its predecessor.

Momoa also starred in Braven in 2018, elevating the film beyond a typical action-thriller with his emotional and fierce performance as a man desperate to save his family.

By 2021, Momoa had joined another major franchise when he appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s critically acclaimed Dune. He held his own alongside A-list actors like Timothée Chalamet and Oscar Isaac while portraying Duncan Idaho, one of Paul Atreides’ most beloved mentors.

The following year, he debuted in the Fast & Furious series as Dante Reyes in Fast X. Despite the film receiving mixed reviews, Momoa’s unhinged villain role received unanimous praise, marking one of his career-best performances.

Ranking his movies is a bit difficult as some of his best performances were in movies that weren’t very well-received by critics. Hence, this list considers both the quality and significance of his role in each film, as well as the film's overall quality.

Here are Jason Momoa’s ten best performances, ranked from the best, and where to stream them online.

Pixar Animation Studios is one of the most influential and successful animation studios of all time, having made unparalleled contributions to the film industry in computer animation. The studio has produced 28 feature films including the latest with 2024's highly anticipated sequel, Inside Out 2.

Read on to discover where to stream every Pixar Animation Studios movie online!

Pixar began as a part of Lucasfilm’s Computer Division. Under Lucasfilm, it created the first wholly computer-animated sequence in a feature film by designing a scene where a planet transforms in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. By 1986, Steve Jobs bought the Computer Division and formed it into the independent company Pixar, which quickly began collaborating with Disney.

Out of Pixar and Disney’s collaboration, the very first computer-animated feature film, Toy Story, was born. The computer-animated movie was released in 1995 and explored a world where toys like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) come to life. It was like nothing viewers had ever seen before and quickly became the most important film of its kind, setting a precedent for further computer-animated features.

Since then, Pixar has stayed on top of the computer animation field, with every movie boasting cutting-edge technology, innovation, and creativity. Nearly every Pixar movie has achieved high critical acclaim, but a few stand out especially. Finding Nemo took home the studio's first Best Animated Feature win at the Oscars, while The Incredibles was the first wholly animated movie to earn the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation.

Cars became a profitable trilogy and introduced Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), one of the most iconic and recognizable Pixar characters. Meanwhile, the emotional and adventurous Up became the first Pixar movie and second animated movie in history to be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Toy Story 3 soon became the third animated movie to earn a Best Picture nomination and broke $1 billion at the box office.

Its movies have only become more sophisticated, with movies like Inside Out, Coco, Soul, and Turning Red seeking to celebrate girlhood and other cultures and exploring concepts like grief and mortality. Inside Out 2 explores emotions during puberty and raises awareness for struggles with anxiety in adolescence.

In 1999, The Matrix became an overnight sensation when the directorial duo Lana and Lilly Wachowski unveiled their soon-to-be sci-fi classic to the world. Starring Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity and Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus, this groundbreaking movie marked the beginning of a hugely successful blockbuster franchise that now includes a trilogy (The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions), an anthology of anime short films (The Animatrix) and a soft meta-reboot (The Matrix Resurrections). There's also a documentary about the making of the original film, and canonical stories in video games and comic books.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to watch The Matrix movies in order and show you where to watch them on popular streaming services in the United States. We’ll also let you know if there are options to stream The Matrix movies legally for free.

How to watch The Matrix movies in order

If you only want to watch The Matrix feature-length movies, you can watch them chronologically in exactly the same way they were released.

    • The Matrix (1999)

    • The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

    • The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

    • The Matrix: Resurrections (2021)

This is a great viewing order if you're watching the franchise for the first time. However, if you want to "take the red pill" and dive deeper into the franchise, there's an expanded universe of short films and video games to enjoy too.

How to watch The Matrix movies in chronological order

The Wachowskis have always been ambitious storytellers, expanding The Matrix lore with canonical stories in video games (Enter the Matrix, The Matrix Online and Path of Neo) and The Animatrix – which offers some of the franchise’s best storylines. So, if you’re ready to see how far the rabbit hole goes, here’s how to watch the Matrix franchise chronologically.

    • The Animatrix: The Second Renaissance, Part I and II

    • The Animatrix: A Detective Story

    • The Matrix

    • The Animatrix: Kid's Story

    • The Animatrix: Final Flight of the Osiris

    • Enter the Matrix – Video game

    • The Matrix Reloaded

    • The Matrix Revolutions

    • The Matrix: Path of Neo – Video game

    • The Matrix: Resurrections

    • The Animatrix: World Record – Exact timeframe unknown

    • The Animatrix: Matriculated – Exact timeframe unknown

    • The Animatrix: Program – Exact timeframe unknown

The Animatrix: The Second Renaissance, Part I and II takes place during the human/machine war in the mid-21st century. According to Morpheus’ estimations, everything from The Animatrix: A Detective Story until The Animatrix: Beyond then takes place circa 2199. Then, The Matrix: Resurrections picks up the story 18 years later. Three Animatrix shorts have no exact timeframe, so the best option is to watch those last.

Another important release for Matrix completists is The Matrix Revisited. This 2001 documentary shows the making of the first movie in 1999, revealing how many of the stunts were performed and explaining the movie’s revolutionary CGI techniques.

Check out our guide to watching all the Mad Max movies online including 1979's original film, Tom Hardy in Fury Road and the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga prequel in 2024 starring Anya Taylor-Joy. Here you can find out how to watch every Mad Max movie in order (chronological vs release) and where to watch them all on streaming services in the United States. This includes the latest offers from services such as Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+. We'll also let you know if you can watch any of the Mad Max movies online for free.

How to watch Mad Max movies in release order

The first Mad Max film premiered in 1979 and was set in a near-future dystopian Australia where society has collapsed due to oil shortages and widespread ecocide. Max Rockatansky (Mel Gibson) works for the only remaining law enforcement agency in the country, the Main Force Patrol, and he’s tasked with roaming the wasteland to hopefully bring as much justice as he can.

The sequel, Mad Max 2, released two years later in 1981, sees Max discover a small community living in a village built around a working oil rig. After noticing the village is constantly attacked, he tries to strike a deal: protect them in exchange for fuel.

The third film, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, has become arguably the most iconic. Released in 1985, Beyond Thunderdome stars Tina Turner as Aunty Entity, the leader of an outpost that gets its power from an underground refinery. Max is enlisted to take down the ruler of the underworld, who is plotting to overthrow Aunty Entity.

Mad Max fans had to wait 30 years until the next release in 2015, when Mad Max: Fury Road premiered to critical acclaim. This time around, Max is played by Tom Hardy. Fury Road follows Max as he joins forces with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), who is trying to liberate a group of “wives” who have been imprisoned by Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). Mad Max director George Miller has never been clear on whether Fury Road is a sequel to Thunderdome or a reboot.

The next movie to watch in release order is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to Fury Road. It portrays a young Imperator Furiosa, this time played by Anya Taylor-Joy. She is taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a dangerous biker horde.

There’s also another Mad Max sequel in the works, titled Mad Max: The Wasteland. The film is still in the early stages of development, but it appears to be a sequel to Fury Road and will see Hardy reprise his role.

How to watch Mad Max movies in chronological order

Because Mad Max is treated like a mythological character in George Miller's post-apocalyptic franchise, the exact order of the movies isn't as clear (or important) as other franchises. However, this is our suggested order if you want to follow Mad Max's adventures through the Wasteland.

    • Mad Max (1979)
    • Max Mad 2: The Road Warrior (1981)
    • Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
    • Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
    • Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

Recently, Walt Disney Studios has been ramping up its remake strategy. The studio is capitalizing on the enduring legacies of its biggest animated classics, such as Beauty and the Beauty, Peter Pan, and Pinocchio, by remaking them in live-action. These remakes have been extremely successful at the box office, appealing to older audiences through nostalgia while giving younger audiences a chance to experience the magic of seeing Disney's iconic stories on the big screen for the first time. In this guide, you can find out how to watch every live action Disney remake on streaming services in the United States.

Disney began dabbling in remakes in the 1990s with Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book: Mowgli’s Story, and 102 Dalmatians. However, the studio only distributed (but did not produce) Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, while Mowgli's Story was a direct-to-video release. Hence, the studio’s first big live-action adaptation success was One Hundred and One Dalmatians, which grossed $320.7 at the box office on a $67 million budget.

The studio waited until 2010 to release another remake, starting with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Technology advancements meant the studio could truly capture the full scale of the classics. Disney then picked up the frequency with which it released live action remakes.

Beauty and the Beast (2017) is one of the biggest standout remakes. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens bring Belle and Beast to life in an enchanting, magical movie with lavish details and beautifully crafted songs. It also became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, solidifying the appeal of live action Disney remakes.

The studio also released The Jungle Book and The Lion King. While these remakes were CGI-heavy, the special effects were so lifelike that it’s difficult to label them as “animated,” especially since The Jungle Book had a prominent human component in actor Neel Sethi, who brought Mowgli to life.

Disney has gotten creative with its remakes in other ways, too, such as with Christopher Robin and Cruella, which are adaptations of Winnie the Pooh and One Hundred and One Dalmations, respectively. Instead of being straightforward adaptations, they were live-action reimaginings that probed the iconic villain Cruella’s (Emma Stone) origins and the life of an adult Christopher Robin (Ewan McGregor).

Following the recent success of the Halle Bailey-led The Little Mermaid, Disney is developing more live action remakes of their own classics, with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Moana on the horizon.

Where can I watch live action Disney remakes online?

Here are all of Disney’s live-action adaptations in release date order, from oldest to newest. In this guide, we've included the latest streaming information so you can easily find where to watch every live action Disney remake. Aca-scuse me? If you’re looking to watch the three Pitch Perfect movies and their spin-off series Bumper in Berlin, check out our guide below to find out where you can stream them all.

Pitch Perfect premiered in 2012 and was somewhat of a sleeper hit. The film centered around a struggling college acapella group, the Barden Bellas, who hilariously struggle to return their group to its former glory. It starred Anna Kendrick in what many consider her career-defining role, as well as Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, and Rebel Wilson in her breakout role. Pitch Perfect initially had a limited release, followed by a wide release the following week.

Thanks to social media and word of mouth, the movie gained tons of publicity. While it never topped the box office, it continued to perform well week after week, staying in theaters well into February of the following year. In total, the movie made $115 million on a budget of just $17 million.

The success of the first movie led to a sequel, Pitch Perfect 2, which premiered in 2015. Now, the Barden Bellas are among the top acapella groups in the world…but after a scandal, the Bellas need to save their reputation and re-earn their glory. The film was an even bigger success than the original, grossing more than $287 million.

A third film, Pitch Perfect 3, came out in 2017. The Bellas are now graduated and struggling with the monotony of their jobs. But they hatch a plan to reunite and perform at a USO tour overseas. The movie was the biggest and craziest yet, involving global travel and even kidnapping. However, Pitch Perfect 3 received worse reviews than the first two films and remains the final Pitch Perfect movie to date.

But in 2022, the franchise received a spin-off series with Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin. The show follows Bumper, who has been a struggling musician since graduation. But after one of his songs becomes a hit in Germany, he heads to Berlin to hopefully jumpstart his career. The show had a fantastic cast including Adam DeVine who reprised his role as Bumper, along with Sarah Hyland and Jameela Jamil. After initially being renewed for a second season, the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strike ended up causing the show’s cancellation.

Hopefully more Pitch Perfect films are on the way, but until then, find out where to watch all three Pitch Perfect movies and Bumper in Berlin with our guide below.

Ever since Netflix dropped season 1 of its live-action One Piece adaptation in August 2023, the anime franchise has been gaining even more followers. However, newcomers may be daunted, considering the franchise has accumulated 1,000+ episodes, 15 movies, and a live-action series over its nearly 27-year run. Hence, this guide will explain where and how to watch all the One Piece TV shows and films in order.

The One Piece franchise began as a manga series by Eiichiro Oda in 1997, which is still ongoing. Readers were captivated by the story of Monkey D. Luffy, a kind-hearted boy with big dreams whose body gains rubber-like properties after he eats a Devil Fruit. His powers come in handy as he and his gang of Straw Hat Pirates, including Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Usopp, and Tony Tony Chopper, search the four seas in pursuit of the fabled One Piece treasure.

Two years after the manga began, the One Piece animated series debuted in Japan. Since then, the anime has been broadcast and streamed worldwide and is currently in its 21st season. By 2000, the very first theatrical film, One Piece: The Movie, premiered. Back then, there were only four Straw Hat crew members, and the show was still in its humble beginnings. So, the movie was essentially an extended episode of One Piece, but today, it is quite charming and nostalgic.

The movie paved the way for fourteen more theatrical films, many of them much larger in scale than the original. Several movies have stood out more than others, such as One Piece Film: Z, which is often hailed as the best movie in the franchise, and One Piece: Strong World, which was an original story from Oda. The movies allowed filmmakers to experiment a bit and introduce the One Piece characters to new genres, such as Baron Omatsuri And The Secret Island, which has a horror vibe, or One Piece Film: Gold, a heist film.

It’s important to remember that neither the movies nor the live-action series are canon to the anime series. They are not necessary to understand the TV series, although they may relate closely to the manga or series. Several movies may even reference events or reflect changes in the series or manga, meaning some may wish to watch them chronologically with the show to avoid any potential spoilers.

How to watch One Piece in chronological order

The chronological order for the One Piece franchise is:

    • One Piece (episodes 1 - 18)

    • Clockwork Island Adventure

In 1981, Hasbro released My Pretty Pony, a plastic toy pony with a long mane that kids could brush. The following year, the toy line was rebranded as My Little Pony and they were given a more whimsical feel with new colors, like the iconic pastel pinks and purples the brand is now known for. In 1986, the toy collection got so popular it received a movie (the first of many). Check out our guide below to see where you can stream every My Little Pony movie and TV show on streaming services in the United States.

My Little Pony: The Movie premiered in 1986 and had a fantastic voice cast that included Danny DeVito, Madeline Kahn, and Rhea Perlman. However, the movie was only released in 421 theaters, severely limiting the number of people who could watch it. Still, it grossed over $5 million at the box office.

The movie was followed by the My Little Pony TV series from 1986-1987 and the reboot My Little Pony Tales in 1992. The series also received three straight-to-video releases between 2005 and 2006 with My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas, My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade, and My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow.

In 2011 the franchise became more popular than ever with the premiere of the series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show ran until 2019 and spawned not just a fanbase, but an entire fandom. On top of the millions of children who loved the show, Friendship is Magic attracted a huge adult audience who created their own community known as Bronies. The fandom even held yearly conventions from 2011-2019 called BronyCon.

During the height of Friendship is Magic’s fame, a theatrically released movie premiered in 2017. My Little Pony: The Movie became a box office success, grossing over $60 million against a budget of just $6 million. The film also had a huge roster of stars voicing the characters, including Taye Diggs, Emily Blunt, and Zoe Saldana, among many others.

In 2020, Friendship is Magic received a short-lived spin-off with Pony Life, and in 2021, My Little Pony moved to Netflix with the exclusive film My Little Pony: A New Generation. The film was followed by the Netflix series My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, which aired from 2021-2023. While the series may have concluded (for now), My Little Pony returned in 2024 with the open-world video game, My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery, so fans luckily still have a lot to look forward to from the franchise. The Incredible Hulk has had a pretty strange journey through film and television. From TV to the big screen, and back to TV again, check out our guide below to discover how to watch every movie and series that features The Incredible Hulk.

After debuting in Marvel comics in 1962, the Hulk quickly became a fan-favorite character. In 1977, he was brought to life for the first time in the series The Incredible Hulk. Starring Bill Bixby as the Hulk, the show was initially a hit before it began losing ratings…and thus, the strange saga of the Hulk began.

In 1982, the original series was canceled, but fans continued to be interested in the Hulk. So, in 1988, Bixby returned for a series of made-for-TV Hulk movies that aired in ‘88, ‘89 and ‘90. The final movie, The Death of the Incredible Hulk even features Banner dying at the end. From 1996-1997, the Hulk also starred in an unrelated The Incredible Hulk cartoon.

In 2003, the Hulk would find his way into another live-action adaptation, this time on the big screen. After gaining international fame for his movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, director Ang Lee decided to make the Hulk’s first theatrical film. Starring Eric Bana as Bruce Banner, Hulk became a smash hit, earning $62.6 million in its opening weekend, which, at the time, was one of the highest-grossing opening weekends ever. However, it received a mixed response from critics and its long runtime made it lose appeal with younger viewers.

Just five years later in 2008, the Hulk received another film adaptation… this time as an official part of the MCU. As a complete reboot, The Incredible Hulk had nothing to do with the ‘03 film and Edward Norton took over the role as Banner. Once again, the film received a lukewarm response from critics and only had a so-so box office performance, earning just $264 million after costing the studio $150 million to make. Though the movie wasn’t a total flop, its profit margin wasn’t enough to justify a sequel, and it remains the Hulk’s final standalone film.

In 2012, Bruce Banner was recast yet again, with Mark Ruffalo landing the role. Ruffalo is still currently portraying the Hulk throughout the MCU, though he’s never gotten his own film. But he’s starred in The Avengers series and has had appearances in films like Iron Man 3 and Thor: Ragnarok. Most recently he appeared in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

While there’s still no standalone Hulk movie in the works, Marvel has announced more Avengers movies are on the way. Though the full casting details haven’t been announced yet, fans may see more of the Hulk in the future. Until then, check out our guide below to see where you can stream every Hulk show and movie in order.

The Guardians of the Galaxy made their first comic book appearance in 1969, but the superhero team that audiences recognize first arrived in the 2008 comic revival of the series. Then, in 2014, Marvel made a film adaptation of the popular comic. As we all know, Guardians of the Galaxy became a smash hit and has since led to more sequels, TV shows, and even a holiday special. Check out our guide below to find out how to watch the entire franchise in order.

In the original 2014 film, Peter Quill (played by Chris Pratt) finds himself on the run after stealing a mysterious orb. Along the way, he meets a wide range of characters whose fates have brought them together. In the end, the group realizes that despite their differences, they’re much stronger when they work together…ultimately forming the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the film’s climax, the plant creature Groot must sacrifice himself to save the team. Luckily, at the end of the film, we see that he hasn’t died, and instead is regrowing as a young seedling. The adventures of this new “baby Groot” are chronicled in the 2022 Disney+ series I am Groot.

The next installment came in 2015 when Disney XD premiered an animated Guardians of the Galaxy series which ran until 2019. The show followed the crew’s various adventures throughout the galaxy, and its third season is especially notable. The season was subtitled Mission Breakout and dives into the same story as the popular Disneyland ride of the same name. For diehard fans, watching the season is a must before riding the ride to give you a better backstory.

Volume 2 then premiered in 2017 and dived deeper into Quill’s emotional backstory. In the movie, he ends up meeting his father, the god-like Ego (played by Kurt Russell). In the beginning, Ego seems like a loving father who has missed his son, but soon his kind-hearted attitude gives way to an insidious plan. In the end, Quill must realize that his team of misfits has actually become his true family and that he’s strongest when he’s by their side.

Next up was the Holiday Special in 2022, which was both hilarious and heartfelt. In the special, Quill tries to teach the team the meaning of Christmas…and in a misguided attempt at giving him a present, Mantis and Drax travel to Earth and kidnap Kevin Bacon. The special also includes a rocked-up Christmas soundtrack with bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, The Pogues, and The Waitresses.

The most recent addition to the Guardians franchise was Volume 3, which premiered in 2023. The movie takes place after Gamora dies in Avengers: Infinity War and dual plots follow the gang trying to save a planet from destruction while Rocket learns of his tragic origins.

Though a fourth film hasn’t been announced yet, fans can still experience the Guardians’ story at Disney Parks thanks to Mission Breakout at Disneyland and Cosmic Rewind at Disney World. Both rides prominently feature the main cast, have great soundtracks, and are fun ways to dive deeper into the MCU.

You can also check out our guide below to find out where to stream every entry in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

Hence, her first concert film, Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless, doesn’t just capture portions of her first major tour but also explores her story leading up to it. Similarly, the early documentaries Taylor Swift: Just for You and Taylor Swift: From the Heart dive into her childhood to give viewers a rare glimpse into the singer’s personal life.

The various films she has made over the years also allow viewers to track her growth and progress as an artist and influencer. Her concert film Taylor Swift: Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018 marked a turning point in her career. Reputation was her final album with her original record label, Big Machine Records, and the impending tonal shift in her music is hinted at in these passionate performances.

By 2020, the singer, who is known for being very private, released the deeply personal Miss Americana, in which she established that she had grown far beyond the teenage pop star she started out as and was ready to use her platform and voice to advocate for others.

Her more recent concert films, including Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions and Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, capture her exploration of the indie folk genre after her departure from Big Machine Records, as she reinvents herself as a musician and embraces her global stardom. Along the way, Swift has also dabbled in directing with All Too Well: The Short Film, which gives an additional look into her art.

For those seeking the whole Swift experience, here are all her concert films, documentaries, and short films in order from newest to oldest and where to stream them.

The Exorcist first hit theaters in 1973 and quickly earned a reputation as the scariest movie ever made. That year, The New York Times even reported that during its premiere screenings, audiences began vomiting and fainting from fear – with one woman allegedly even having a miscarriage right in the theater. While most of these claims are likely false, they showcase just how shocking and terrifying the movie was. Since then, five more movies and a TV series have been released in the franchise, with more sequels on the way.

Find out how to watch every Exorcist installment in chronological order with our guide below.

If you want to watch The Exorcist franchise in order of release dates, it would be:

    • The Exorcist (1973)

    • Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)

    • The Exorcist III (1990)

    • Exorcist: The Beginning (2004)

    • Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist (2005)

    • The Exorcist series (2016-2017)

    • The Exorcist: Believer (2023)

But if you want to watch the series in chronological order, here’s how:

The Exorcist actually has pretty murky beginnings – with two rival prequels telling the same origin story in two different ways (this is the result of some classic Hollywood studio drama). 2006’s Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist and 2004’s Exorcist: The Beginning both star Stellan Skarsgård as Father Lankester Merrin, and both films center around Merrin encountering the demon Pazuzu for the first time in the late ‘40s and learning of the evil force’s backstory that dates back to around 500 A.D.

However, most fans can skip over these films as their vibes are very different from the later installments. The next chapter in the saga is the original 1973 movie where the young Regan (played by Linda Blair) gets possessed by Pazuzu, turning her into the iconic bedridden, green, scab-covered monster that the film is famous for.

In 1977, Blair reprised the role of Regan for The Exorcist II: Heretic. This time around, Pazuzu is back and wants Regan once more. But in the sequel, we also learn that Regan has certain telekinetic powers, which is why the demon chose her. However, this new twist made the film feel more sci-fi than horror, which has given it a controversial legacy amongst fans.

The Exorcist III came out over a decade later in 1990. The movie follows a minor character from the first film, Detective Kinderman, as he investigates a series of murders in the Georgetown area. It’s later revealed the killings are being committed by various people who are possessed by a deceased serial killer that gets his power from Pazuzu. The plot is totally bonkers, but the movie is considered a cult hit among fans.

Next up chronologically would be the FOX series The Exorcist which aired from 2016-2017. The first season starred Oscar-winner Geena Davis as Regan, now as an adult. Pazuzu once again comes for her, this time attacking her at her weakest point by going after her children. Seeing no other options to save her family, Regan finally gives in and lets Pazuzu take her, turning her into a murderous, soulless minion.

In 2023, the franchise returned once again with The Exorcist: Believer. The movie takes place 50 years after the original and follows two young girls who go missing in the woods. When they mysteriously emerge a few days later and start showing strange symptoms, a desperate father reaches out to Chris MacNeil (played by Ellen Burstyn, who reprises her role from the first film) for help. Naturally, all hell breaks loose and the girls devolve into fully possessed beings.

Two more Exorcist sequels are currently in the works. Until then, find out where to chronologically stream every entry in the franchise using our guide below.

As highly predicted, Cillian Murphy won the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 96th Oscars. He won the award for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer. Murphy wholly transformed into the historical figure and was able to convey the conflicting life and morals of the creator of the atomic bomb. Now, he joins a list of just 86 actors to win America's most prestigious acting award. This guide will revisit all of the movies that hold Best Actor-winning performances and reveal where to stream them.

Emil Jannings was the first nominee to win Best Actor at the 1st Academy Awards in 1929. Back then, actors could win the award for multiple films. Hence, he won for his roles as Grand Duke Sergius Alexander in The Last Command and August Schilling in The Way of All Flesh. Since the rules changed afterward, Jennings is the only actor to win the award for multiple roles.

While a lot has changed about the Oscars in 96 years, one thing that has not is the Best Actor category. To this day, it remains one of the Big Four awards one can win. It has been awarded to a wide variety of men for many different roles, such as Sidney Poitier for Lilies of the Field, Jack Nicholson for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Adrien Brody for The Pianist, and Joaquin Phoenix for Joker.

While every win is a significant achievement, several particularly notable wins have occurred. In 2012, Daniel Day-Lewis won his third Best Actor for portraying Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln. Hence, he became the only actor to have ever won Best Actor three times at the time of writing. As for the actors with the most Best Actor nominations in history, Laurence Olivier and Spencer Tracy are tied with a whopping nine nominations each.

However, several men have earned two Best Actor awards in their lifetime, including Nicholson, Marlon Brando, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, and Anthony Hopkins. In addition to being one of few actors to win Best Actor twice, Hopkins became the oldest winner when he won for The Father in 2020 at age 83.

Here’s where to watch every movie that has produced an Oscar-winning performance from newest to oldest.

“Look at me Damien, it’s all for you!” Those lines have become iconic in horror history thanks to The Omen, a film about a married couple whose baby is secretly swapped out with the antichrist. Unknowingly, they raise and nurture the spawn of Satan… and mysterious, horrific events begin to happen all around them. Check out our guide below to find out where to stream all six Omen films, including 2024's The First Omen.

The newest film in the franchise is The First Omen, which is a prequel that tells the story of how Damien was born and the tortured final days of the woman who was forced to birth him. Taking place in Rome (where the first movie and its 2006 remake begin) the film is set to take audiences right up to the very moment where the original story begins.

The First Omen serves as the first new film in the series in almost 20 years, with the most recent being the 2006 remake that starred Julia Stiles and Liev Schreiber. The movie premiered on June 6, 2006, making its release date 6.6.06, which helped add lots of hype to its premiere. The Omen ended up earning almost $120 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing movie in the series so far.

Before the remake, The Omen had a series of four films that all built on a continuing plot line. The 1976 original movie follows Damien as a child. Without giving away any spoilers, the movie concludes with him finding his way into the White House, alluding that Satan will be able to carry out his nefarious plans on a widespread political level.

The 1978 sequel Damien: Omen II sees Damien, now a 12-year-old, continuing his journey through life, killing everyone who might get in his way…though sadly, this film dropped the White House plot set up in the first movie, which would have made for an absolutely wild film.

The third movie in the series was 1981’s Omen III: The Final Conflict. Damien is now an adult and played by the great Sam Neill (who many know as Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park). In the film, Damien has found his way into politics to assert his influence on a global scale as he fights to ensure the second coming of Christ can’t happen. Despite getting mixed reviews, Neill’s performance received some praise from critics and the movie earned $20 million at the box office, which wasn’t too bad for 1981.

The final film in the original tetralogy was the 1991 made-for-TV movie Omen IV: The Awakening. The movie follows a married couple who adopt a young girl, and it soon becomes clear that she’s set to become the new antichrist. As a ‘90s made-for-TV horror movie, Omen IV failed to deliver many scares or meaningful tension, thus killing off the franchise for over a decade until the reboot stirred new interest in The Omen.

Check out our guide below to discover where you can watch all six Omen movies.

At the 96th Academy Awards, Emma Stone won her second Best Actress Oscar thanks to her role in Poor Things, where she plays a childlike woman who is brought back to life thanks to a revolutionary brain transplant. The movie joins a lofty ensemble of films that have taken home the coveted award honoring actresses who have portrayed hilarious, heartbreaking, and pivotal characters throughout cinematic history. Discover every movie to win Best Actress and find out where to stream them in our guide below.

The first Best Actress winner ever was Janet Gaynor, who was nominated for three films that year: 7th Heaven, Street Angel, and Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans. This was the only time an actress won an Academy Award for playing multiple roles in different films. Since then, the prestigious honor has been awarded to actresses from all walks of life in a wide array of films, like Julie Andrews for Mary Poppins, Cher for Moonstruck, Halle Berry in Monster's Ball, and Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line, among many others.

In 1991, Jodie Foster won Best Actress for The Silence of the Lambs, which was a significant moment because very few horror and suspense films are ever recognized by the academy. In fact, The Silence of the Lambs scored every major award at the 64th Oscars. On top of Foster’s win, the movie also earned Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, making it one of just a handful of movies to take home every major award.

So far, the all-time highest winner for the Best Actress Oscar is Katherine Hepburn, who holds the record with four wins for her films Morning Glory, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, The Lion in Winter (which she tied with Barbra Streisand's performance in 1968's Funny Girl) and On Golden Pond. Meryl Streep presently holds the record for most Best Actress nominations, being nominated a whopping 17 times, winning twice for Sophie’s Choice and The Iron Lady.

Robert De Niro is one of the most acclaimed actors in Hollywood history. Throughout his nearly 60-year career, he’s earned himself nine Oscar nominations (winning twice) and 12 Golden Globe nominations, including receiving the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2011. If you want to watch the best films of his career, check out our guide below to find out where you can stream them.

De Niro has been in a lot of movies. He’s starred in tons of mafia films, he’s been in numerous military movies, and he’s even been in a few hit comedies, like the #4 movie on the list, Meet the Parents. Released in 2000, the movie follows a man (Ben Stiller) who visits his girlfriend’s parents for the first time. The only problem is that her father (De Niro) is an overprotective, somewhat paranoid retired CIA agent who will do anything to sabotage his daughter’s relationship. De Niro was hilarious in the movie and stands out as the most memorable character in the film. The role even earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

And you can’t talk about De Niro’s acting career without mentioning his iconic Oscar-nominated performance in the #2 movie on our list, Taxi Driver. His line, “You talkin’ to me?” has become one of the most-quoted lines ever and remains a memorable moment in cinematic history – even more impressive is that De Niro improvised that entire scene.

The film centers around De Niro’s character, a taxi driver who becomes disgusted with the amount of crime and sleaze he sees in New York City. Before long, his anger becomes delusion and he descends into a state of madness where he’s ready to kill all the criminals around him, regardless of the consequences.

But the best De Niro film of all time, holding the #1 spot on our list, would be The Godfather Part II. Not only did it earn De Niro an Oscar, but the movie also won five other Oscars, including Best Picture. Often praised as better than the original, the sequel continued the story of the Corleone crime family and is split between two eras, the turn of the 20th century and the late 1950s. The movie was loaded with memorable scenes and was packed with an all-star cast including Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall, and James Caan.

But De Niro’s filmography is loaded with tons more hits – from him portraying a hilarious and charming cross-dressing sky pirate in Stardust to his latest Oscar-nominated role in Killers of the Flower Moon, which tells the true story of the infamous murders in Osage, Oklahoma by a greedy cattle rancher. Check out our guide below to find out Robert De Niro’s 15 best movies and where to stream them.

  • The 10 Best John Hughes Movies, Ranked and Where to Watch Them

The 10 Best John Hughes Movies, Ranked and Where to Watch Them

    Keith Langston

    Keith Langston

    JustWatch Editor

John Hughes is one of the most influential filmmakers of all time. Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, he created hit after hit after hit, whether it was by directing, writing, producing, or sometimes all three. If you want to discover his 10 best movies and where to stream them, check out our guide below.

Hughes first came to prominence thanks to the 1983 movie Vacation (which ranks #5 on the list). The movie was inspired by Hughes’ short story Vacation ‘58 and he also adapted his story into the screenplay. Centered around a family that goes on an epic (and disastrous) family road trip, the movie is undeniably hilarious…and also incredibly relatable.

As the years have gone on, its sequel Christmas Vacation has become even more beloved and takes the #2 spot on the list. The sequel was also based on one of Hughes’ short stories and he again was tasked with turning it into a screenplay, but this time around he also took on producing duties. In the 1989 film, the Griswolds attempt to put on the perfect Christmas celebration, and naturally, it all goes to hell. Christmas Vacation isn’t just funny, it’s also super relatable, which is why it has become a perennial holiday favorite.

And who can craft a John Hughes list without including his iconic teen movies like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club? While both films obviously make the list, some might be surprised to see they don’t take the top spots. While both movies are truly iconic and memorable – the song “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” is probably playing in your head right now – they haven’t withstood the test of time as well as Hughes’ other films.

In the modern era and with the recognition society has had of privilege and oppression in recent years, parts of Hughes’ 1980s teen comedies can feel somewhat petty, with the characters sometimes creating a lot of drama over minute issues. While these films might have felt real and fresh in the ‘80s, nowadays they can feel slightly trivial. Regardless, both movies remain enjoyable watches and have rightfully earned their spot on the Top 10 list.

So, what film took the #1 spot? That would be the epic holiday classic Home Alone. Memorable, iconic, fun, funny, and filled with holiday cheer, Home Alone feels like a cartoon came to life. Despite centering on a child left home alone on Christmas while burglars break in (which could easily be a horror movie), thanks to Hughes’ excellent script, the movie instead turned into a hilarious cat-and-mouse chase between the young Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) and the bumbling duo, the “Wet Bandits”. Home Alone is absurd, but it’s also insanely entertaining and somehow fits perfectly with the madness of the Christmas season.

What other John Hughes movies made the top 10 list? Check out our guide below to discover the filmmaker’s 10 best movies and where to watch them.

Zendaya has quickly become one of the top young actresses in Hollywood. She has headed two major franchises, Dune and the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man trilogy, and has appeared in a number of other award-winning TV shows and movies. She dominated 2024 after starring in the highly-anticipated sequel Dune: Part Two and Luca Guadagnino's Challengers. Read on to discover ten of the best Zendaya movies and TV shows and find out where to stream every title using popular services like Max, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more!

Zendaya’s career began with a few modeling, singing, and dancing gigs as a child. However, her big break came with the hit Disney Channel original series Shake It Up. She nabbed the lead role of Rocky Blue and starred opposite Bella Thorne in the fun, dance-themed sitcom. It became one of Disney Channel’s highest-rated series and appealed to adults and kids. After this, Zendaya got a solo Disney series, K. C. Undercover, and a movie, Zapped.

Her acting was above average for Disney sitcoms, which is why she flourished when she was able to show her full range as an adult actor. Zendaya’s first big blockbuster was Spider-Man: Homecoming, in which she portrayed M. J. alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. The film was a massive critical and commercial success, leading Zendaya to reprise her role for two equally successful sequels.

In 2019, Zendaya debuted in what is undeniably her best TV show: Euphoria. She proved once and for all that she was more than a Disney or MCU actor, putting everything into the complex role of Rue Bennett, a young woman recovering from substance abuse. Her role led to her becoming the youngest actress in history to win Best Actress in a Drama twice at the Emmys.

In 2021, she appeared as Chani in Denis Villeneuve's big-budget Dune adaptation. Not only was Dune a visually spectacular and faithful sci-fi epic, but Zendaya held her own among several A-list actors, including Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, and Rebecca Ferguson. Meanwhile, she returned to the role with Dune: Part Two, adding more depth to Chani in the arguably bigger and better sequel. In the same year as her appearance in Dune: Part Two, she produced and starred alongside Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist in the sexy tennis-drama Challengers.

Where to watch the best Zendaya movies and TV shows

Rankings were difficult given the comparable successes of Dune, the Spider-Man movies, and Euphoria. Hence, each project is ranked on film quality, Zendaya’s performance, and how recognizable her role was. Read on to find a ranking of Zendaya's best films and TV shows and where to watch them in the United States!

Christopher Nolan has become one of the most acclaimed directors in cinematic history, most recently striking Hollywood gold with his biopic Oppenheimer. But Nolan has also directed 11 other feature films, all of which are must-watches. If you want to find out where to stream all of his movies in order, check out our guide below.

Nolan’s directorial debut was the indie film Following. The crime thriller centers on a young author who is desperate for inspiration so he begins following strangers to spy on their lives. Before long, he finds himself in the middle of a murderous crime scheme between a mob boss and his lover.

Nolan’s next movie was Memento, an indie film that turned into a sleeper hit and ultimately launched the director’s career. Memento follows a man with amnesia who tries to track down his wife’s murderer. After scoring rave reviews at film festivals around the world, Memento earned Nolan his first-ever Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Throughout the 2000s, Nolan made other successful films like Insomnia and The Prestige, but what really thrust him into the spotlight was his Dark Knight trilogy. After Batman had received a series of zany, comic book-like movies throughout the ‘90s, Nolan’s films were dark, gritty, and showed the true underbelly of Gotham City. The real highlight of the series was The Dark Knight, which featured Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance as the Joker.

At the time of its release in 2009, The Dark Knight became the fourth highest-grossing movie ever, earning over a billion dollars at the box office. The following year, Nolan directed another massive hit, Inception. Starring an ensemble cast that included Leonardo DiCaprio, Inception went on to be nominated for 8 Oscars. It would remain Nolan’s most Oscar-nominated film until his epic 2023 hit Oppenheimer.

His historical biopic tells the story of the creation, deployment, and aftermath of the atomic bomb and the lasting impacts it had on physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who oversaw the bomb’s development. The movie went on to score a massive 13 Oscar nominations, making it one of the most-nominated films in history. It ultimately won a whopping seven awards including Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. additionally won their respective acting awards.

True Nolan fans might also want to watch Man of Steel. Though Nolan didn’t direct the movie, he did help out with writing and producing duties.

Check out our guide below to see all 12 of Christopher Nolan’s films and find out where to watch them in order (newest to oldest) on streaming services.
