The 5 Weirdest Letterboxd Lists I Can't Stop Laughing About
Like JustWatch, Letterboxd is a great tool for tracking movies. It's also an asset for making bizarre lists that truly spotlight how fun, weird, and wild movies can be, even if they're critically acclaimed. Letterboxd and jenni.video compiled a massive list of niche Letterboxd lists, and there were more than a few standouts.
Here are the 4 weirdest Letterboxd lists that I can't stop laughing about, and one I created myself because I couldn't pass up an opportunity to contribute to this madness. Click the links to find where they are streaming on platforms like Netflix, HBO Max, and more.
Movies in Which Leonardo DiCaprio Ends up Sad and Damp

List by rowan
Shutter Island (2010)
Inception (2010)
The Revenant (2015)
The Great Gatsby (2013)
Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Titanic (1997)
The Beach (2000)
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
Let's start with a relatively easy, and dare I say, less niche one. Because surely if you've watched any amount of movies, then you're familiar with Leonardo DiCaprio, and if that's the case, then you can likely picture him "sad" and "damp" right off the bat, right? I mean, come on. Titanic is the ultimate sad and damp Leo movie, but that trend has continued long beyond the early days of his career.
DiCaprio is equally sad, damp, and downright tortured in Shutter Island and The Revenant. But honestly, it works for him. Take a look at any of the movies mentioned on the above list, and they're all well-known. So, why waste your time watching something like The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) when Leo is most definitely sad (or at least we're sad watching him), but he remains dry.
Sad Moms Get Hobbies Outside the Home

List by Harper Thomson
Puzzle (2018)
Revolutionary Road (2008)
There's something about the title of this list that just speaks to me. Sad moms, of course, are a staple archetype across both movies and TV, so truthfully, this list could be A LOT longer. However, shout-out to this Letterboxd user for getting it started with some pretty solid titles.
Is walking out on your marriage to pursue competitive puzzle tournaments wild? You bet. However, ask critics, and they'll rank Puzzle right alongside the emotional stories in The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio and Revolutionary Road. That said, as a horror fan, my addition to this list would be Serial Mom (1994) or maybe even The Graduate (1967) because I suppose starting an extramarital affair with a man half your age is a… hobby? On second thought, maybe Mrs. Robinson should've taken up puzzles.
Movies That Have a Shot From Inside a Practical Effects Dental Appliance Puppet Mouth

List by raisin entity ninety-three
Hot to Trot (1988)
Joe's Apartment (1996)
Dennis the Menace (1993)
Dr. Giggles (1992)
Little Shop of Horrors (1996)
Cemetery Man (1994)
Hold on. I'll give you a second to read that title again. Okay. Done? In all seriousness, this hyper-specific list is all the right kinds of weird. As a horror fan, this is the type of bizarre imagery that I'm familiar with, and I have no doubt there are many other movies worthy of a spot on this list.
Still, this Letterboxd user did the well-fought, hard-earned legwork here, and has graced us with the full puppet-mouth POV starter package. After all, Little Shop of Horrors has one of the most iconic shots like this of all time. And, hey, if you dig cheesy horror steeped in '90s nostalgia, then Dr. Giggles and Cemetery Man will also tickle your demented little black heart.
Period Dramas Where the Male Lead Confesses His Love to the Main Character on a Slightly Sloped Grass Hill With a Singular Tree

List by Jay
Little Women (2019)
Emma (2020)
Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
Okay, I apologize. If you thought that last title was long, this one puts it to shame. Again, this super niche list is enough to elicit a little chuckle from anyone who's ever watched a period drama. It's the type of scene you can probably already picture in your head, and apparently, authors like Louisa May Alcott and the great Jane Austen could, too.
These are the kinds of films to watch if you're craving something a little historical with a touch of romance. Because nothing quite says romance like a slightly sloped grass hill. Legend says the slighter the slope, the deeper the love… or so I've heard.
Also, if you want more fun lists like this, this Letterboxd user is the master. Case in point: "Jeremy Renner is introduced in an action sequel with promises he will be carrying the franchise forward, only for fans to just decide they'd rather go back to the original protagonist" or "films with stupid titles long enough they could also be songs from a mid 2000s punk pop band."
Movies Where Sigourney Weaver Shows Up to Primarily Stand in One Room and Wear a Nice Suit

List by Jeanette White
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Chappie (2015)
The Gorge (2025)
The Mandalorian and Grogue (2026)
I have to admit that researching this article got me in the spirit of niche movie lists, so I decided to get in on the action, and this is something I often think whenever I see Sigourney Weaver in anything modern. Gone are the days of Weaver running around in too-small underwear while playing cat-and-mouse with an alien. Instead, enter a new era of Weaver making what could almost be considered cameo appearances where she talks nonsensical science or menacing warnings while wearing a nice suit.
Are there more of these movies? I'm sure, and I hope so. Listen, I love Weaver in Alien (1979) as much as the next horror dork, but I find these new roles of hers so charming. She's a big deal, and small roles in fancy suits are all we need to be reminded of that.
