10 Movies Like ‘Bullet Train’ That Are Pure High-Octane Action
Bullet Train (2022) is one of the best examples of a modern action movie that has non-stop action and creative choreography in a unique setting. For a movie about a train full of hitmen, there's a wide variety of colorful killers with great gimmicks that make the movie a fun time with the wonderful cast.
If you're a fan of this type of movie, Bullet Train isn't the only film with this specific concept. Here are ten others you can check out on Prime Video, Apple TV, and more, for pure high-octane action. The best part is that each of these films has its own unique charm and is worth watching, with some even being more popular than Bullet Train!
To love Bullet Train means you have to have an appreciation for the movie that brought this style of film to the mainstream: John Wick (2014). The film kickstarts a revenge spree after a hitman, who recently lost his wife, gets his car stolen and his new dog killed. However, when the attackers learn he’s an accomplished and deadly hitman, they realize they’ve made a fatal mistake.
John Wick introduced an incredible franchise of gunplay and stunts where we see one man kill his way through wave after wave of assassins around the world. But even with all the lore in the franchise, there's nothing quite like what the first movie accomplished due to its brutality and simplicity.
Similar to John Wick, Nobody (2021) follows a skilled killer who has retired from that life to become a family man. He finds himself itching to get back into the action, but this puts him on a collision course with a crime family that wanted him dead.
Nobody has a similar humor to Bullet Train, but the action is far more brutal and more like John Wick. That blend makes for a fun movie with a charismatic character, delivering one of the best action series in years and an even more fun sequel with Nobody 2 (2025).
Starring Josh Hartnett, Fight or Flight (2024) is incredibly similar to Bullet Train, but instead of being on a train, it's on a passenger plane. A mercenary is sent to look for a dangerous target on a plane filled with assassins, and eventually they have to work together to survive.
Like Bullet Train, Fight or Flight is a hilarious and fun film with color and action that's a blast to watch on the big screen. Fight or Flight is a perfect companion to Bullet Train in every way and a near-perfect action movie.
Alan Ritchson has had a monumental run with action movies. Unlike his 2025 film, Playdate, his most recent release, Motor City (2026), is something totally and tonally its own. The film explores a man who was double-crossed by the woman he loves and sent to prison, where he sets up a revenge plan. From there, he is relentless in his brutality and really embraces his action movie presence.
Bullet Train has a lot of personality, but this film is far more grounded. However, just like how the action in the former is fun to watch, the latter is equally as fun to watch, if not more. Motor City is Ritchson at his best, and everyone should check it out.
Set in Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall, Atomic Blonde (2017) follows a spy looking for a device that holds the identities of all their undercover agents. However, the hunt to get it isn't easy, and it involves many brutal and intense fights, with Charlize Theron delivering some brilliant fight choreography.
There's a style to this film and a great soundtrack, just like Bullet Train, but the '80s setting means the look and feel of the film is dated in the best way. The real highlight is how much Theron commits to the role and how she makes it her own. (A sequel really should've been the next step, but ultimately, wasn't.) Atomic Blonde is a great spy and action film that deserves much more love than it's gotten over the years.
Set during World War II, Sisu (2023) follows a mute gold digger who finds a stash and tries his best to get it to a bank to cash in. However, facing off against the Nazis makes Sisu’s mission much harder, but not impossible. Unaware of his military past, they find they have to face one of the most dangerous killers out there.
Sisu is a unique movie in that it embraces a similar action tone to John Wick, while also reassuring viewers that, thankfully, the dog in this movie will survive. There's a humor to it, like Bullet Train, that makes the film a fun time in between the kills.
Based on the TV show of the same name, The Equalizer (2014) follows an ex-CIA agent who uses his skills to help those in need. But whenever he helps someone, he finds himself targeted by the mob. However, they don't understand who they are messing with.
While The Equalizer 2 (2018) and The Equalizer 3 (2023) offer their own thrills as well, nothing beats how much fun the first movie was. Like Bullet Train, this is a movie about a skilled killer just trying to get by, and it leads to some exciting surprises.
Following the success of the John Wick franchise, its first cinematic spin-off was Ballerina: From the World of John Wick (2024). The film follows a young girl who grew up as a ballerina and assassin and goes out on her own, uncovering a plot tied to her past.
What makes this film so fun is that while it's in the world of John Wick, the stunt work is so different. For example, where John Wick is intense and violent, Ballerina shows a lead who is resourceful but not polished. Like Bullet Train, it's the colors and tone that make this film a great standout, and if you love that sort of thing, then Ballerina continues that trend.
Filmed in a way that appears as a single take, Extraction (2020) follows one skilled man as he's tasked with escorting a young boy to safety while being attacked by armed assailants at all turns. It's a tough and intense movie where you can feel the hits at every moment, and it is one of the most hard-hitting films in the genre.
Extraction is another film that has started an entire universe of action movies and intense set pieces, but nothing beats what the first one accomplished. Simple in premise and ambitious in its stunts, it has the same chaotic, relentless energy as Bullet Train without ever losing itself.
Liam Neeson became an action icon in the later stages of his career, and that's thanks to the aura and intensity he brought to Taken (2008). After his daughter is kidnapped and trafficked, an ex-CIA agent uses his skills to track her down and kill anyone in his way.
Taken is one of the most quoted action movies of the 21st century and has some amazing action from Neeson. Much like how Brad Pitt is highly skilled in Bullet Train, Taken is another example of a skilled killer backed into a corner.
