The 14 Biggest Marvel Heroes Still Unconfirmed For 'Avengers: Doomsday'
Avengers: Doomsday (2026) is coming, and with its first trailer, we've seen a lot of what to expect across the four teams represented. Aside from the New Avengers and Sam Wilson's Avengers, the Fantastic Four and X-Men fill out the roster of a seemingly full cast.
That said, there are many questions regarding the other iconic heroes and Avengers we've seen return since the end of the Infinity Saga. With that in mind, many are wondering if there will be more and who could fill those slots, considering so many great heroes are being sidelined in this massive movie.
Spider-Man
Hot on the heels of Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), Peter Parker is in a better place than he ever was, and he's also gotten a massive power boost and grown even more adept at using his abilities. But even so, he's not anywhere near the battle against Doctor Doom. There's still a chance he could appear, especially since the Avengers would remember Spider-Man and Yelena Belova knows him. But considering the urgency of the threat, it's possible he's not there because there's no time to get him.
Hulk
Following Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Bruce Banner is out of commission after losing control of his Hulk form. He's also been put in a psych ward for reasons we still don't know, which could lead to a more introspective journey for the character. But considering the timing of things never being great for Bruce Banner, it's strange that none of his friends have sought him out, at the very least, for his mind on the matter. Both in terms of muscle and brains, it feels like a loss not to have the Green Goliath on the team, even more than not having his cousin, She-Hulk.
Wolverine
We know Deadpool won't be in Avengers: Doomsday, but with the other X-Men there in more classic suits, it's sad that Wolverine is nowhere to be found. For someone who is supposed to be doing this till he's 90, it would be great to have him rejoin his co-stars for a final battle. There's hope he could appear at a later date or in another movie, but not utilizing Hugh Jackman at the peak of his time as Wolverine is strange. Still, there's always hope another variant could make an appearance.
Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange was last seen in a mid-credits scene for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), where he and Clea traveled to the Dark Dimension to stop an Incursion. Considering Doomsday is all about Incursions, it's a shock that Strange isn't there to inform the teams of what's going on. There's a hope that Strange has been working behind the scenes to stop what's happening, but considering Incursions are still going on, it's unlikely he made much headway. Even with him not in Avengers: Doomsday, he's left us with more questions than answers.
Scarlet Witch
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness tried to sell the idea that the Scarlet Witch sacrificed herself to destroy Mount Wundagore and the Darkhold. But as the mountain crumbled, we also saw a red flash that could've meant anything. The prevailing theory is that she was taken away or escaped, considering how much more powerful she's become with magic. The question then would be where she went, like another universe or realm, and not having her in Doomsday means a secret weapon is left behind.
Hawkeye
Whether it be Kate Bishop or Clint Barton, Hawkeye remains a fixture of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and an integral way to ground the Avengers. However, Kate Bishop has been missing in action since Kamala Khan offered her a spot on a team, and Clint is retired. Nevertheless, a threat this big would require all the help the universe could get, and any Hawkeye would be an asset, even if they don't like it. Everyone underestimates the powerless heroes, but that's why Hawkeye is so impressive. Situational awareness and marksmanship aside, they know when and how to make the hard decisions in an instant.
Jean Grey
We've heard that Jean Grey's legacy will be mirrored in some way in Avengers: Doomsday, which sounds like she won't be in the film at all, but that doesn't mean there's no hope for her appearance. In fact, there are ways she could appear without causing any confusion. The best way would be in a photo that has the team together in costume, focusing on the original cast and uniting them in a fun way. Another could be through telepathic communication with Scott as she tries to stop another Incursion site on the planet. Regarding Sadie Sink appearing as the character, considering she just started in Brand New Day, it would be hard to put her in such a huge situation without even being an X-Man.
Storm
Similar to Jean Grey, Storm's legacy is said to be honored in Doomsday, but we don't know how. That said, Halle Berry is an actress who more than deserves an appearance and a chance to play one of her most famous characters again. Like Jean, a photo could tease her, or, if she's not with the team, we could see her fighting Sentinels in another part of the world or even leading a totally different team, complete with Rogue and Angel, among others who appeared in past X-Men films.
Daredevil
Daredevil is one of the most famous street-level heroes in the MCU, and Daredevil: Born Again (2025) has only pushed this popularity further. Plus, the meme of him constantly facing enemies that could destroy him has made it almost a crime that he's not there facing Doom. Realistically, Daredevil has never met any of the Avengers and hasn't made a point of trying. Because of the connections he doesn't have to the larger MCU, it's not likely he'd be there to face Doom, no matter how badly we want to see it.
Star-Lord
Following the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), Star-Lord returned to Earth to spend time with his grandfather and take a long-needed vacation from protecting the universe. But we were also promised that he would return at some point, and it still hasn't happened. Star-Lord doesn't see the Avengers like the rest of the world, considering he's saved the galaxy twice with fewer resources, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't want to find and help them. Still, with the urgency of the situation, the teams probably went to another Earth long before he could find them.
Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU and comparable to the Scarlet Witch. But more than Wanda, she was also much more accessible. She knew Wong, Bruce Banner, and many others and even saw what happened when tears in reality took place. But even as things go south, she's one of the most unreachable heroes in the franchise, and that in itself is a problem. It's unknown if she will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but she's long overdue for a grand return, and fans are waiting.
Spectrum
Monica Rambeau utilized her incredible powers to close a tear in reality from the other side in The Marvels (2023). But when she woke up, she was on a new Earth where the X-Men were present. It would make the most sense that this Earth would be the one Avengers: Doomsday is set in. Even still, the trailers never showed her, and there's no confirmation she's in the cast at the time of writing. It feels like a gross misstep if she doesn't appear, considering she would probably know more than anyone else what's going on and that the X-Men are friends, not foes.
Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan blew up when she appeared in the MCU and remains one of the best-cast characters in the franchise. However, after The Marvels, she just disappeared, much like her co-stars. The one thing that makes Kamala stand out is that she's trying to build a team of Young Avengers with Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang. With Cassie in Doomsday, it would make sense to show that she's working with Kamala, especially since, with no Avengers, it's the perfect time for her team to step up in their absence.
Moon Knight
Moon Knight is a character with as much a reason to be in Doomsday as Daredevil, but there's no denying how powerful and resourceful he is. Marc Spector and his alters all serve Khonshu in some way, and it not only makes him powerful, but he also can't take damage. He'd be a great asset against Doom. However, even if he's not a major hero in the film, seeing him in action in some way would be great. With a massive lack of supernatural heroes in Doomsday, Moon Knight would be the most fun to see help.
