Christian Nilsson had an interesting route into the filmmaking industry. Before becoming a director and screenwriter, he was a video journalist for various well-known media brands like Esquire, BuzzFeed, HuffPost, and The Atlantic. His first project, a short film called Unsubscribe, came about after YouTuber Eric Tabach contacted him asking how he could make one of his videos in the US box office during COVD. After shooting Unsubscribe in just three days, Nilsson and Tabach were able to break even on the film by renting out a movie theater and buying all the tickets themselves. This technique, known as “four-walling,” made the film No.1 in the US Box Office. Nilsson followed up this stunt with his feature-length directorial debut Dashcam in 2001. It got a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. His latest project, Westhampton, is his foray into drama.
