Tim Burton is a world-renowned director known for his gothic-fantasy aesthetics, quirky stop-motion features, and brilliant ensemble casts. In 2024, Burton is heading back to his roots to make a sequel to his second ever film: 1988’s Beetlejuice. He’s bringing back most of the original cast and some new additions for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, an all-new story about our favourite “bio-exorcist” set to premiere in cinemas on September 6, 2024 in the UK.

Tim Burton’s Movie Catalogue

Tim Burton’s very first film with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, starring Paul Reubens, established his core mix of stop-motion horror-fantasy aesthetics and storytelling values as a filmmaker. With a plot featuring lovable and eccentric characters, Burton’s directorial debut paved the way for his next features, including the classic Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton as the self-titled “bio-exorcist” poltergeist, and The Nightmare Before Christmas (for which he acted as producer), and his foray into the Batman universe with 1989’s Batman and its sequel Batman Returns, starring Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader.

While Tim Burton is well known for his stop-motion features including The Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie, he also has created many classic live-action films. Some of his better known live-action features include Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, and Planet of the Apes. In addition, Burton also directed four episodes of Netflix’s 2022 series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega as the darkly deadpan daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams in a spinoff series of the Addams Family.
