There’s a lot one can say about Thor: Love and Thunder. But one of the most surprising twists that resulted from this movie is the fact that Thor became a dad.

Well, technically, he is the adoptive father of Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter — the guy who, let’s not forget, spent the whole film trying to kill him. Still, Thor is a pretty forgiving soul, so when Gorr reached Eternity and wished for his daughter to be resurrected, the reformed villain entrusted the child to Thor’s care before dying himself.

From then on, Thor and Love travelled the universe together saving aliens. The father-daughter duo in turn was nicknamed ‘Love and Thunder.’ Given that she, too, has godlike powers, it’s no stretch to say that Love is a hero herself. And clearly, at this point, she and Thor are pretty inseparable.

With that in mind, many have wondered whether Love will be making an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, or if Thor has decided to keep her out of the loop completely to avoid danger. She might be a little young even to be a Young Avenger, but given this is Doctor Doom we’re talking about, our heroes might need all the help they can get…

Is Thor's Daughter in Avengers: Doomsday?

Yes — it has been confirmed that Love is indeed in Avengers: Doomsday. We know this because she appeared in one of the tantalising teasers for the movie.

In this teaser, Thor prays to his late father Odin. “Father,” he begins. “All my life, I have answered every call: to honour, duty, to war. But now, fate has given me something I’ve never sought… a child. A life untouched by the storm.” As he says this, he can be seen kissing the forehead of an older-looking Love while she is in bed.

He continues: “Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers, so that I may fight once more. Defeat one more enemy. And return home to her. Not as a warrior, but as warmth. To teach her not battle, but stillness. The kind I never knew.”

Based on what Thor is saying, it seems like he isn't so keen on Love taking up arms beside him. So, if he has it his way, at least, she might be sitting on the sidelines for this particular battle. But with Thor fighting to return home to her, she will probably be one of the emotional anchors of the film.

Thor’s Real Daughter Had To Be ‘Bribed’ Onto Set

India Hemsworth in Thor: Love and Thunder

We also know for sure that Love is part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast after Chris Hemsworth talked about working with the character’s actress — who, in this case, also happens to be his actual daughter, India Rose Hemsworth, on the shooting of Doomsday.

During an appearance on The View (via Entertainment Weekly), Hemsworth discussed how he had to get creative when it came to motivating his on and off-screen daughter.

“She’s now 13, so she’s a teenager, so a bit different to when we shot the other one,” he explained. “And she walks on set and she’s like, ‘Ugh, how long is this gonna take?’ I was like, ‘We haven’t even started!’”

He went on to share after doing a single take, India remarked: “Are we done?” When he subsequently broke the news that it would be “another two or three days,” she wasn’t happy. He went on to add that she had that typical “angsty” teenage attitude when it came to filming.

“In the end, I had to bribe her to come onto set,” he admitted. “She’s like, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid! What am I even doing here?’ And I go, ‘You are getting paid.’ She goes, ‘Really? You didn’t tell me that.’”

Hemsworth explained that he tried to tell her that they were saving the money for her until she was 18, but India wasn’t having any of it.

“She goes, ‘Nah! Nah, I want some of it now. And Joe Russo and the directors are there and they’re like, ‘…We gotta get her on set.”

Later, Hemsworth said was able to twist her arm by promising that she could afford a motorbike if she worked on the film.

He continued: “She races motorbikes and rides motorbikes and she goes, ‘…Could I afford that motorbike that I wanted?' I was like, ‘You possibly could.’ So a slight negotiation and off she went.”

Hopefully, by the time Doomsday comes around, we'll all say it was worth the hassle for Hemsworth and his daughter.
