Linda Hamilton Has a Shocking Response to a New Terminator Movie - EXCLUSIVE
Linda Hamilton has thoughts on whether there should be a new Terminator movie or not.
James Cameron’s The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day are certified classics; the four movies that followed, less so. Although much of the credit for the success of these two films goes to director James Cameron, actress Linda Hamilton is also a key factor. Hamilton played Sarah Connor and famously took the character from wide-eyed waitress in the original to battle-ready badass in the sequel.
Linda Hamilton can currently be seen in her new film, Trust Me, I’m A Doctor. The film retells the story of Dr. Sandeep Kappor who was implicated in the death of Anna Nicole Smith. Hamilton plays defense attorney Ellyn Garofalo, who helps guide the doctor through both the trial and the media frenzy it whipped up.
Whilst Hamilton has seemingly left Sarah Connor behind, here at JustWatch, we were curious as to whether or not she’d return for one last time as her iconic role. Her answer was pretty emphatic.
Linda Hamilton Does Not Want to Return to Terminator
During promotion for Trust Me, I’m A Doctor, JustWatch took the opportunity to find out where Linda Hamilton currently stands with the Terminator franchise. Rumours have been circulating that the series could make a return, but when told, Hamilton made her feelings clear.
“I’m out!” was her gut response. As she thought a little harder she went on to explain, “I don’t know, the last one didn’t perform well financially so I’m very surprised to hear there’s going to be another one.”
Her reaction might have been abrupt, but Hamilton was sure to confirm that she has no ill will, stating, “I wish everyone well.” It appears that whilst she isn’t ready to return to the franchise, she’s not strictly against another Terminator film being made.
Which Terminator Movies Has Linda Hamilton Been In?

With six movies, a spin-off TV series, and an anime show, it can be hard to keep track of the Terminator universe. Luckily this writer is a self-confessed nerd of the franchise and I am here to offer a hand unpicking exactly which films feature Linda Hamilton.
Her first appearance was in The Terminator in which Sarah Connor was Skynet’s target. She then returned, complete with muscles that John Rambo would be jealous of, in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Linda Hamilton declined the offer to appear in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, a very smart decision on her part. For Terminator Salvation, Hamilton has an audio cameo as the voice on the tapes that adult John Connor listens to. Terminator Genisys attempted to reboot the franchise and timeline and saw Emilia Clarke take over the role.
Finally, Linda Hamilton reprised the role of Sarah Connor in the most recent movie, Terminator: Dark Fate.
Will There Be Another Terminator Film?

Although Linda Hamilton might be done with Terminator, it seems that James Cameron is not. Speaking during a Dell Tech World conference, the director shared that he had started working on a new script for the franchise, but is currently on pause as he wants to see how our real-life relationship with AI develops before continuing.
Back in 2022, Cameron appeared on the Smartless podcast where he shared that if he were to do another Terminator, he would “make it much more about the AI side of it than bad robots gone crazy.” He has also confirmed that any new film would forgo the T-800 and the Connors, and look to something else instead. Cameron’s comments about AI suggest a story more focussed on Skynet itself, which could in Cameron’s hands be an interesting avenue to explore.
There’s technically no official greenlight on a seventh Terminator film, but should Cameron complete the script, it’s unlikely Hollywood would turn down the man behind the multi-billion dollar Avatar movies.
