Fall 2 Ending, Explained: How the High Tension Sequel Sets up Fall 3
Fall 2 brings even more heightened tension than its predecessor, including a killer ending that sets up a possible third film.
The sequel was put into production following the first Fall film's streaming success. Original director Scott Mann penned the script, with the Spierig Brothers taking over directing duties. In the follow-up's story, Jax, sister of Shiloh Hunter, follows in her sibling’s footsteps as she too becomes stranded at extreme height.
However, her circumstances are different: the TV tower of the first movie is replaced with a plank 4,000 feet up the side of a cliff, but the intense vertigo-inducing visuals remain.

Fall 2's Big Twist: 'Luce''s Real Identity
Fall 2 opens with Shiloh’s friend, Luce, encouraging Jax to honour her sister by completing one of the challenges she will now never be able to do. The pair eventually settle on a Plank Walk 4,000 feet up the side of Mount Kwan and document the adventure on Shiloh’s old video camera. Unfortunately, a rockslide separates Jax and Luce from their guide, Jon. The two are trapped on the Devil’s Elbow with no route forward or back.
Jax begins watching Shiloh’s old videos on the camera, only to discover another Luce on the footage. Jax then questions ‘Luce’, who admits that rather than being one of Shiloh’s friends, she was actually one of the deceased YouTuber’s followers.
Wanting to get closer insight into her hero, she admits she posed as a friend, revealing her real name is Billie. She also shares that, in the wake of a cancer diagnosis, she was inspired by Shiloh’s videos to seize the day and take up extreme sports. Needing Billie to survive, Jax forgives the other woman, and her admission spurs her to attempt to retrieve the radio sitting just out of their reach.
Fall 2 Ending, Explained: Do Luce And Jax Make It Off Of Mount Kwan?
While Jax does indeed make it down from Mount Kwan, Luce / Billie is less lucky. Jax climbs her way over to the radio and alerts Jon to their location. He arrives, and the girls believe that they are safe. However, after crossing a very questionable bridge to reach the helicopter pick-up point, Luce requests some oxygen from Jon. She snatches the container, which falls, opening to reveal a pile of fentanyl inside. Jon has been using tourists as unknowing drug mules. As Billie threatens to expose his secret, Jon gets mad and pushes her off the cliff, killing her.
Jax is left alone and in danger, and as she battles Jon, she crawls back onto the rickety bridge. Jon follows, but before he can strike her with a deadly blow, Jax clips onto part of the structure before kicking apart the bridge, sending Jon hurtling through the sky.
Back on the ground, Jax returns to the bar where they met Jon and sends Billie's family a message. Jax then begins pawing through Shiloh’s adventure scrapbook. The page after the Plank Walk is Hell’s Chasm and includes a polaroid of Shiloh’s best friend (and Fall survivor), Becky. The images of the location suggest that it is icy and involves cable cars. Jax knocks back her drink and then forcefully slams her glass upside down onto Becky’s face, capturing her image in the glass.
Fall 3 Set-Up: Why Is Becky Back And What Does Her Mail Mean?
Fall 2’s final moments are spent with Becky. She is at home doing woodwork when the mailman drops off some post. Becky goes to retrieve it only to discover a strange invitation. On the front is an in memoriam picture of Shiloh; on the back is a picture of a snowy cable car. Alongside the image is the message: “The Hunter family invite you to join them for a memorial service celebrating the life of Shiloh”, with a time listed of 9-11 a.m.
Throughout Fall 2, Jax’s jealousy about Shiloh’s friendship with Becky has been plain to see. Does she blame her for the death of her sister? Could this be a ruse to get her alone and exact revenge? Or could the invite be genuine?
Either way, the invite almost certainly confirms that the already written third movie will take place in or around a cable car. It will also see Becky and Jax unite onscreen, but which one can survive a second stranding?
