Camp Rock 4 Might Be More Likely Than You Think
Camp Rock 3 only dropped on Disney Channel last month, but the Jonas Brothers are already weighing up a Camp Rock cinematic universe.
Sixteen years after the release of the second Camp Rock film, Connect 3 — the fictional band made up of Shane (Joe Jonas), Nate (Nick Jonas), and Jason (Kevin Jonas) — return to their old stomping ground in order to find a new opening act for their reunion tour.
Choosing a new opening act isn’t that straightforward, though. The former boyband decide to hold a competition especially for Camp Rock campers. After being put through their musical paces, Connect 3 will decide which act will join them on tour and, in turn, be propelled into superstardom. For campers, the pressure is on, and as they navigate their ambitions, alliances, and budding relationships, the stakes are higher than ever.
When Camp Rock 3 dropped on Disney Plus, the movie was an instant success. Upon its release, it went to No.1 in 66 different territories, and with the soundtrack also being a top 10 hit in the music charts, it’s safe to say that this particular brand of Disney magic was successfully recaptured. So, with that in mind, the possibility of a Camp Rock 4 doesn’t look so remote…
Will There Be A Camp Rock 4?
As mentioned, Camp Rock 3 was a considerable success. With that in mind, working on a fourth movie would definitely make sense for the House of Mouse. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Veronica Rodriguez said that while she has heard “nothing” about a future film, she is fully “manifesting” it and is “ready” to come back to the franchise if needed.
Meanwhile, the Jonas Brothers have a more ambitious goal in mind. “One of our favorite things to do is to sit around at the end of the night, have a drink, and discuss concepts for Disney crossover universes between Descendants, Camp Rock, Zombies... We could turn this into a full MCU-style universe,” Nick Jonas said.
When the interviewer asked whether he was serious, he fully called their bluff, making it clear he absolutely was. “I’m actually not kidding at all. We do that,” he said.
The Jonas brother, who recently starred with Paul Rudd in comedy movie Power Ballad, said that “the intention was to not just make one film [and] walk down memory lane” but to “launch global superstars.”
“As we enter this next stage of our life as artists and producers, I think it is important for us to say, ‘How can we pull from things in our past, but use it to [help artists] that we believe can reach the highest level?’” he asks. “With this third movie, we’re already seeing that that’s absolutely possible and the sky’s the limit.”
Would The Jonas Brothers Appear in Camp Rock 4?
When asked if Connect 3 would rock up (in both senses of the word) in Camp Rock 4, Joe joked that he and his brothers “are always down to come back as grandpas.”
“Never say never… I think it’s fun to pop in and out and continue to carry the torch,” he added.
Meanwhile, the outlet also noted that when Demi Lovato, who also produced the film, made a cameo appearance as Mitchie, her character said to Shane, “Same time next summer?”
While Lovato maintained that this line was designed to “express that the joy Camp Rock brings to the fans will last far beyond the end of the film,” she added, “As for a fourth film, you’ll just have to wait and see!”
