Mark Hamill's Sneaky 'Carrie' Cameo, Explained
Mike Flanagan's Carrie (2026) has delivered a deeper look at the first Stephen King novel and its famous 1976 movie adaptation. With Flanagan in control, there are likely many tropes, styles, and actors you may notice carrying over from his past works.
One big surprise was Mark Hamill, who has appeared in other projects Flanagan has worked on, including another Stephen King adaptation. That said, Hamill is in such a small role it's easy to miss if you aren't familiar with his voice. But what character did the iconic Star Wars (1977) actor play in Carrie?
Who Is Mark Hamill in 'Carrie'?

Carrie started each episode with a breakdown of the history of women who have various telekinetic and telepathic abilities and how they were treated by the masses. Often labeled "crazy" or "witches," these women often struggled with their gifts in the worst way. Carrie Season 1, Episode 6, introduces us to a woman who meets a formerly famous fortune teller named Damon Nostra.
Unfortunately, Nostra is a fraud who, when meeting this woman with real psychic abilities, immediately tries to call the police when all she wanted was help from someone she thought she could trust. The fortune teller in question is played by Hamill, who hides under heavy prosthetics on one side of his face.
The only way fans could tell it was Hamill was by his deep, gravelly voice. From there, it's easy to find the features that give away the actor, even under the makeup. It was a great way to include Hamill without distracting from the overall story, making it one of the more fun horror cameos of the 2020s.
What Other Mike Flanagan Projects Has Mark Hamill Appeared In?
Mike Flanagan is famous for casting many characters with actors he's worked with in past projects. However, there are still new additions, with one of the more recent being Hamill. Initially, Hamill appeared in The Fall of the House of Usher (2023) as Arthur Pym, the shady lawyer of the Usher family who wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty to protect the Usher estate. Hamill got to put on a deep voice and deliver a fun role that tied to the many works of Edgar Allan Poe.
Hamill also appeared in the film The Life of Chuck (2024), a story by Stephen King that explores the life of a single man with a wholesome message about embracing life. Hamill plays Chuck's grandfather, Albie, who becomes an alcoholic after the death of his son, and while he's very strict, he's not cruel to Chuck and instead seeks to protect him.
Carrie was a chance to see Hamill in a new way in Flanagan's work. While it was a brief scene, he stood out, but he wasn't the only cameo Flanagan snuck in.
Mark Hamill Wasn't the Only Cameo in 'Carrie'

Hamill is easily the most recognizable face in the Mike Flanagan series, but that doesn't mean there weren't other cameos. During the iconic prom scene, writer, producer, and director Bryan Fuller, as well as director Don Mancini, also made an appearance before all Hell broke loose.
Fuller is a famous name in horror for writing the teleplay for Carrie (2002), creating shows like Dead Like Me (2003-2004) and Hannibal (2013-2015), and also creating the story for the upcoming Crystal Lake (2026) series. Mancini is a household name for creating Chucky and being a part of the franchise since Child's Play (1988). He also lent his talents to shows like Tales From the Crypt (1989-1996) and Hannibal.
Being that Carrie is a Mike Flanagan project, there was also a cameo from another mainstay actor in his shows, his wife Kate Siegel. She not only appeared at the end of the series as the head of a mysterious organization of telekinetics, but she also directed an episode of Carrie. As such, Carrie proved to be a perfect platform for horror legends to appear among many other famous faces.
