The titular Hunger Games is the name of a deadly tournament that is featured in each film. In a dystopian world, society is divided into multiple Districts. Chronologically, the first movie in The Hunger Games series is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel that explores the younger years of Coriolanus Snow before he became President. Set 64 years before the events of the original series, it follows a young Snow as he mentors a tribute in the 10th Hunger Games, revealing the origins of his rise to power and the dark traditions of the Games.
