Eric Kripke, our showrunner, has gone much deeper with the characters this season. Typically, its about going bigger, but not arbitrarily, just bigger in general with the characters and the stakes. It seems to me that, this season, the writers wanted to give the audience the chance to get to know all the characters better and everything they’ve been through, how they metabolize their trauma. We go deeper rather than bigger. The emotional gravity has gone up a million notches, because the stakes are so high.
