After a series of smaller roles in television and movies, DeWanda Wise rose to prominence by starring in the series “Shots Fired” (2017) and then the television adaptation of Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It” (2017–2019), in which she played the lead role of Nola Darling. She went on to star in series such as “The Twilight Zone” (2019), “Invasion” (2021), “Three Women” (2023), and “Murderbot” (2025). Wise began her career on the big screen by starring alongside Kevin Hart in “Fatherhood” (2021), before going on to a role in “The Harder They Fall” (2021). She starred in the major Hollywood blockbuster “Jurassic World Dominion” (2022) before starring alongside Chris Pine in his directorial debut, “Poolman” (2023). She has since starred in the horror movie “Imaginary” (2024), the romantic drama “Love, Brooklyn” (2025), and the supernatural western “Killing Faith” (2025).
