How to Watch the Predator Movies In Order

The Predator franchise has captivated audiences with its blend of action, sci-fi, and horror since its debut in 1987. The series follows elite soldiers, mercenaries, and survivors as they face off against the deadly alien hunters known as Predators.

How to watch the Predator movies in chronological order

Each Predator movie focuses on a different set of characters and settings. So, while one prequel might be set in the 18th century, another will play out in a dystopian future.

• Prey (2022)

• Predator (1987)

• Predator 2 (1990)

• Alien vs Predator (2004)

• Alien vs Predator: Requiem (2007)

• Predators (2010)

• The Predator (2018)

Set in the 1700s, the prequel Prey focuses on a young Comanche warrior, Naru, as she battles one of the first Predators to arrive on Earth.

Then comes the original classic Predator (1987) that introduces Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) as he leads a team of commandos in a Central American jungle, only to be hunted by an extraterrestrial Predator.

Taking place in 1997, the sequel Predator 2 (1990) shifts to a near-future Los Angeles, where Detective Mike Harrigan must confront the Predator stalking the city’s criminals.

The Predator franchise underwent a major crossover with the Alien franchise. Alien vs Predator (2004) explores the Predators’ ancient battles with the Xenomorphs, though it's not central to the main storyline.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) is a direct sequel to the previous film, this entry further explores the Predator and Xenomorph conflict, though with limited impact on the main Predator timeline.

In Predators (2010), a group of warriors is transported to a Predator hunting reserve on an alien planet in an unspecified future.

Chronologically, the latest installment is The Predator (2018). In this film directed by Shane Black (who interestingly also acted as one of the soldiers in the first Predator), a group of ex-soldiers faces a more evolved Predator, who arrives on Earth with a sinister new agenda.

While some entries offer new settings and evolutions to the story, the Predator franchise's core remains a thrilling, action-packed battle for survival between humans and their alien hunters.
