We’ve put it all together with an additional section on the supernatural revelations that happen on this island now that we know it’s all real. So, join us as we break down this Apple TV show!

What Happened At The End Of ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 8?

Tom and Evan tallking in Widow's Bay

Widow’s Bay Season 1, Episode 8, “Your Baggage,” ends with Wyck telling Tom that the curse isn’t over. Going back a couple of minutes, Patricia defeats the Boogeyman to the tune of Enya’s “Caribbean Blue,” and she holds his body at gunpoint all the way to the incinerator. When it’s confirmed that he’s dead and ashes, she goes to visit Sheriff Bechir in his hospital bed, and that’s when she sees that his wife is pregnant. When he asks what is actually happening on the island, she warns him that they can’t let their baby be born on Widow’s Bay.

Back to Tom’s house. He’s sitting with Evan talking about the things they’re going to do when they visit the mainland. They’re discussing possible landmarks to visit, and Tom even suggests that they go and visit some colleges. Everything is idyllic and looking up. That all changes when someone knocks on Tom’s door.

Wyck has come to Tom’s to inform him that the island curse is still active, meaning that those born on the island cannot leave. As Tom processes this devastating information, you hear the sounds of a storm brewing. Literally. The local forecast warns that “the storm of the century” is coming, and a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning” is in effect.

Widow’s Bay continued dropping hints as to the mysteries and lore prevalent on the island. To help you keep track of important details, we’ve written all the island lore revealed in Season 1, Episode 8, “Your Baggage.”

  • The Home was a place on Widow’s Bay where mentally ill people went. Evan’s mom went there and, eventually, died of an aneurysm.

  • The Widow’s Bay Historical Society kept the Boogeyman’s mask on display.

  • Patricia did lie about the Boogeyman calling her when she was in high school. But she didn’t lie about him coming to her house.

  • The Boogeyman can throw himself out of a window, get run over by a car, be lit on fire, and be shot at, and he’ll survive. But he can’t survive total incineration.

What Supernatural Things Happened In ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 8?

The main supernatural thing that happened in Widow’s Bay Season 1, Episode 8, is tied to the Boogeyman. After being awakened, he went to get his mask. Then, he tricked Patricia into going outside by setting off her van alarm. Luckily for Patricia, she trusted her instincts when she heard a floorboard creak in her home and booked it.

As a fan of slashers, this was the most entertaining episode yet. It had the makings of most great slashers, like the final girl, the ancient evil that can’t be killed, the unsuspecting victims that get caught in the middle, and the ominous music. But the Widow’s Bay version of a slasher had humor written all over it, keeping in line with the show but also making it a memorable deviation from the standard slasher format.

Some examples include Patricia fumbling when she saw the Boogeyman, cursing, and then running away. There was also the whole situation at Kris’ house. After Patricia tased Kris, she shrugged, said Kris was a terrible person, and then ran away. Even when Patricia was practicing how to kill the Boogeyman at the gas station with the nozzle, it was funny.

But the funniest part of this slasher episode was the end with Enya. Patricia had been listening to Enya when she was in her home earlier in the episode and looking through her closet. So, the song was in line with her. But as a viewer, the ethereal nature of Enya clashed with the grotesque nature of the Boogeyman; it was almost jarring when it started playing as Patricia held him at gunpoint. That’s why it’s such a good musical and comedic choice. It shocks you as a viewer because we too deal with horrors every day, and then it’s just back to life.

The mayor of a New England town resolves to turn it into the next tourist hot spot, despite local warnings that it's cursed.
