What Happened At The End Of ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 4?
When the sheriff arrives at Patricia’s Sunset Cocktails, he somehow manages to break the spell that Patricia is under. It’s then revealed to the audience that she’s not wearing a tiara. She’s wearing a terrifying headpiece with a dead animal and antlers, and the punch she had been serving has crow’s blood, bird eggs, and all sorts of witchy things in it.
In a panic, Patricia runs out into the main room, seeing that the drinks are spiked and every table has a totem made of branches. It’s also revealed that the book, Your Turn: Out with the Old and In with the You by Lucy Fours, is actually a spell book, with a drawing of the Hag and people walking into water as a larger version of the totem burns in the background.
Both Patricia and the sheriff make it down to the shore and try to break the spell before the partygoers drown. When Patricia tries to burn the book, it won’t release her. Patricia then sticks her hand in the bonfire, the book burning away, and finally releasing everyone from the spell they were under.
Devastated by how the party went, Patricia walks home. That’s when Tom and Wyck appear, obviously having just finished dealing with the Hag. She joins them, and they head to the church to follow up on the voicemail that Priest Bryce left Tom. However, in their search for him, they find out that the priest killed himself.

What Supernatural Things Happened In ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 4?
Now that we know the supernatural is real in Widow’s Bay, we’re going to break down what we learned when it comes to the supernatural shenanigans that happened during the episode and what it means on a grandeur scale. And for “Beach Reads,” it was all about Patricia’s book and witches.
Previously, the Widow’s Bay Historical Society teased the island as having witches. This was before the supernatural was confirmed, so we took that as just random island lore. But the book that suddenly appeared to Patricia, Your Turn: Out with the Old and In with the You by Lucy Fours, is undeniable proof. Witches are real.
When it comes to this book, it appeared during Patricia’s distress. It did things like falling off the shelf and keeping the lights on to get Patricia to read it. As soon as she started reading it, she was under its spell, not realizing how much time passed or what she was even wearing.
The punch that Patricia created while under the influence of the book helped ensnare the partygoers. And two times, you could see the partygoers not dancing or enjoying themselves as much as Patricia was. Instead, their mouths were wide open with their eyes distant.
The final nail in the coffin for them was the spell that Patricia read from the book. Patricia thought she was reading something heartfelt, but Rosemary told her she couldn’t understand a word of what Patricia said. Right after she read from the book, everyone “decided” to head to the bonfire, not realizing they were heading to their deaths.
What we learn from this contained story from “Beach Reads” is that the supernatural forces of this island have a mind of their own. And if this is the chaos they can cause in 2026, imagine the chaos they caused previously and what led to things like the cannibalism incident in the church.
