Also, it deepens the lore and gives us a shocking revelation about another one of Richard Warren’s descendants. Oh, and that entity, it eats. Literally.

What Happened At The End Of ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 10?
Widow’s Bay Season 1, Episode 10, “We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time,” ends with a bombshell revelation and the entity wanting more sacrifices. Backtracking a little, Tom has been trying to build up the courage to kill Ruth as a means of sacrificing one to save the lives of many. But the more time he spends with Ruth, the more he realizes that she’s a good person and that she doesn’t deserve this. Nevertheless, he puts pills in her tea and prepares to suffocate her with a pillow.
Just as Tom is about to kill Ruth, she wakes up. That’s when she reveals that she had an affair with a married man when she was 40. She then gave the child to the married man so he could raise her with his wife. Ruth watched her child grow up from afar. And then she hits Tom with another revelation: Tom’s wife, Lauren, is Ruth’s child, and the reason she continues working is to stay close to her grandson, Evan.
Devastated at the revelation, Tom realizes that he’s doing all this for his son when his son can never leave the island anyway. He snaps out of it and goes to help Ruth, saying they need to get her to a doctor. That’s when Sheriff Bechir appears and shoots Ruth. He doesn’t want his child to be born on this island and deems the death of Richard Warren’s last living descendant as just. When Tom tells the Sheriff that Ruth isn’t the last descendant, the Sheriff turns the gun on him, asking who it is. Tom lies, the storm stops, and Ruth is injured but alive.
The reason why the storm stopped is that while all of this was happening, Evan was in the sacrificial chamber with his friend PJ and the off-island girl. When Kenny the custodian finds them, he ushers them back to the bunker/shelter. PJ closes the door behind them, not knowing it locks. As Evan tries to help Kenny open the door, the entity consumes. Afterward, the door unlocks, and Evan steps inside, seeing that the heavy metal doors in the chamber are slightly open.
Later on, Tom goes to a destroyed Widow’s Bay lookout and throws away Francis Warren’s brooch, hiding the truth of Ruth being the descendant of Richard Warren, but also Evan. When Tom goes back to the car, Evan is there waiting. That’s when the church bell rings eight times, signaling that the entity hasn’t been satiated yet.
Island Lore Revealed In ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 10?

The woman who had Rosemary’s job before her told her to never go down into the shelter.
Patricia found a paper in the blankets with a handwritten note that said, “If you can read this, I’m already dead.”
The Ash Wednesday Nor’easter of ‘62 lasted five days. But the island has had storms that have lasted twice as long.
The bunker has videos “for them” and “for us.” A man in the video says that those who get chosen are called “offerings.” The video “for us” also says, “Be strong. Honor the pact. And remember, their sacrifice is our survival. The bad times will not end until the covenant is honored, and honored fully. Life for life. The island will make its needs known. One soul for each bell toll. You will be tempted to comfort them. Do not. Their fear is necessary. They say it likes the taste. Now, let’s pray for a long and peaceful slumber.” The second half of the “for us” video plays over handcuffed and hooded individuals in the bunker/shelter.
The bunker/shelter under the town hall has a ladder connected to the offering room for the entity.
In 1942, Widow’s Bay tried to build a trolley, and all the workers disappeared.

Ruth had an affair with a married man when she was 40 and got pregnant. She hid the baby. The baby was Tom’s wife, Lauren. So, Evan is also a descendant of Richard Warren.
The bunker/shelter has a warning that plays through the speakers that says, “It’s time. It’s time. It’s time. Listen to your facilitator. Move forward. Do not beg.”
What Supernatural Things Happened In ‘Widow’s Bay’ Season 1, Episode 10?
The main supernatural thing that happened in Widow’s Bay Season 1, Episode 10, connects to the entity and the bells, considering that the earthquake is a sign that the entity has woken up, as seen in Episode 1. But it’s the bells that signal how many sacrifices need to be made to satiate the entity and put it back to sleep.
Flashback to Episode 2, where Tom told Reverend Bryce that Patricia and Ruth had heard the church bells going off. Tom thought it might be his son, Evan, and his friends and suggested that the reverend keep the church doors locked. The reverend looked confused but assured Tom that everything was alright.
Later on, the reverend goes up to the bells, and they are chained. After scouring his office and a bunch of texts, he finds a letter that says, “To the Rector of the Church. I pray that this burden will never fall to you. But should the bell toll, there are steps you must take.” The bells then ring nine times in Episode 3. In episode 4, Tom, Patricia, and Wyck find his body. He had killed himself.
In Episode 6, Richard Warren reveals to the townspeople who are about to bury him in a coffin that he made a deal with the entity on the island to save them that first winter. Then, he explains that the only way to stop the horrors on the island is through sacrifice. That’s why people were disappearing during Richard’s time. He was sacrificing them to the entity to protect the people of the island.
Now in Episode 10, we have confirmation that the sacrifices continued well into what looks like the ‘70s or ‘80s, thanks to those videos that Dale found in the bunker/shelter. That means the sacrifices had become a procedure that was standardized on the island, but not everyone knew about it. By the time the bells ring nine times in Episode 3, the knowledge of what has to be done to stop the horrors on the island had been lost.
Kenny’s death in the sacrificial chamber is proof that feeding or satiating the entity stops the horrors on Widow’s Bay. That’s why the storm stopped all of a sudden on the island. But it’s not over because the bell initially rang nine times, and at the end of the episode, it rings eight times. Sacrifices to the entity are still needed. And it sets up a Season 2 where the ones who know what needs to be done have to decide: Will they sacrifice some for the good of all? Or will they let the horrors continue because that’s just life?
