6 Upcoming Movies & Shows Starring 'Heated Rivalry's Hudson Williams
When Heated Rivalry (2025) premiered, it introduced me to a talented cast whose work I wasn’t all that familiar with, including Hudson Williams. What he brings to the role of Shane Hollander makes the character even more lovable and nuanced. He’s magnetic on-screen, so it’s no wonder that he has many, many projects lined up across streaming and theatrical releases.
The hockey romance show proves that Williams thrives in the quieter moments of a drama, can deliver the high stakes of an action sequence, and knows how to wear his heart on his sleeve around those he cares about. I imagine that all of those sides of Williams’ talent and then some will be showcased in the following upcoming movies and TV shows. As they release, you can watch them on AMC+, Netflix, and more.
Encore is a feature that blends genres like drama, mystery, and thriller. It was filmed in 2024 and stars Aryan Varma as Victor, who starts to wonder if his classmate’s monologue confessing to murder may be a reality and not a performance. There’s a teaser trailer on Instagram, but Hudson Williams is not present in it. He’s billed as playing a drifter named Mason.
The mystery of his role folds into the vibe of the project, really. The teaser features the line: “But the moments we piece together create the essence of a scene.” It pairs nicely with the cuts of scenes that create a grounded yet unnerving ambiance. Regardless, even with a more minor, supporting role, I don’t doubt for a second that Williams will deliver a great performance.
YAGA is one of the three TV shows on this list. It’s also one of the only projects with a release window. Expect this half-hour drama in October 2026. Kat Sandler created the show, as it’s based on her play of the same name, which is inspired by the legend of Baba Yaga. She spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the story’s journey from stage to screen: “It has since evolved into television as a collision of folklore, fairy tale, noir thriller, police procedural, horror, and feminist fantasy, while continuing to ask the question: What makes a witch?”
The trailer features Carrie-Anne Moss as Katherine, a university professor, explaining the legend. She says, “There’s versions of her all over the world,” and the trailer shows some examples. Then, Katherine adds, “but she always has a name.” Hudson Williams’ character’s name is Henry Park, who is an heir to a fishery and whose disappearance is being investigated.
As a fan of both Heated Rivalry and Teen Wolf (2011), I am probably the most excited about Apparatus. In March 2026, Deadline exclusively announced that Hudson Williams and Dylan O’Brien would star in this movie. Sofia Banzhaf, who will make her directorial debut with this movie, co-wrote the script with Grayson Moore.
Williams plays Tyler, a “struggling young rideshare driver who falls under the influence of a self-titled entrepreneur.” O’Brien plays the latter, JP, who “offers Tyler a future in his handheld massager business, but what appears to be a dream opportunity unravels as JP pulls Tyler into a violent downward spiral.” The mere idea of seeing these two actors go toe-to-toe in a thriller like this is, well, thrilling. I’m counting down the days until we know more.
I know I’m not the only one impatiently waiting for more of Heated Rivalry. It only wrapped up its first season in December 2025, but it feels like ages. I miss Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rosanov, and I miss their romance. The good news is that, in March, creator Jacob Tierney told Variety that the sports romance series is still expected to film this summer. As of now, the expected premiere date is still sometime in 2027, too.
So, really, I will take all of those positive developments and run with them. In the meantime, I have a lot of reading to do, and maybe you do, too. After all, Heated Rivarly’s second season is expected to adapt The Long Game, Rachel Reid’s follow-up to Heated Rivarly. It’s also incredibly fitting that the season is meant to premiere in the same year as Reid’s upcoming Unrivaled, a third book about Shane and Ilya. 2027 is going to be theirs, just like 2025!
The Altruists is a Netflix miniseries that’s in the works by co-showrunners and executive producers Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt. It will have eight episodes and star Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle. The real-life story of Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison inspires The Altruists. “For nearly three years now, Sam and Caroline’s story has been my daily obsession,” Moore told Netflix’s Tudum.
The show’s logline described Boyle’s Sam and Garner’s Caroline as “hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye — before they were accused of stealing $8 billion and became Gen Z’s own Bonnie and Clyde.” There is little known about Williams’s role in The Altruits. For now, he’s playing a recurring character named Duncan Rheingans‑Yoo.
I am so intrigued by Tyrant because there is so little information about it out there right now. It’s described as a culinary thriller starring Charlize Theron, Julia Garner, and Demi Moore. In April, Deadline exclusively reported that Hudson Williams had joined the ensemble. The news of his casting came alongside that for Paapa Essiedu, Omar Apollo, and Nara Smith.
At the time of the announcement, the outlet reported that the project, directed by David Weil, was in production in Los Angeles. Interestingly, it’s “set within New York City’s elite fine dining scene.” Weil also penned the script for Tyrant, which was based on a story by Weil and Cody Behan. As someone already missing The Bear (2022), I’m eager to know more.
