‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Post-Credits Scene Explained - Who’s Coming to the MCU?
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) ends by giving Peter Parker (Tom Holland) something he hasn't had in a long time: a sense that his life might finally be moving forward. Then the post-credits scene immediately throws another mystery into the mix. Rather than teasing a new villain or revealing another superhero, the scene focuses on Ned's (Jacob Batalon) Spidey Tracker.
At first, it looks like the device is just tracking Peter around New York until it glitches, with the words "location unknown" appearing on its screen. The tracker then zooms out further and further until it finds Spider-Man somewhere off-planet. In classic Marvel style, the next words viewers see are "Spider-Man Will Return," though it doesn't specify when or where.
It's a pretty understated ending for a movie that introduces us to Jean Grey (Sadie Sink), brings Frank Castle/Punisher (Jon Bernthal) into Peter's world, and pushes Spider-Man's powers in a new direction. The post-credits scene barely lasts a minute, but it will likely be one of the movie's biggest talking points because Marvel leaves almost everything open to interpretation.
There are a few theories about what the post-credits scene could mean for Peter. Alternatively, it could just be a very cool way of introducing a new character to the MCU.
Is Venom Finally Joining The MCU?
Spider-Man and Venom have always been closely linked, but the MCU has deliberately taken its time setting up that relationship. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) already established that a fragment of the symbiote exists somewhere on Earth-616 after Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) was sent back to his own universe, leaving behind a small piece of Venom.
That scene felt too specific to ignore, and Brand New Day may have provided the next piece of the puzzle. In Marvel's original 1984 Secret Wars comic book series, Peter, while exploring Battleworld, unknowingly bonds with an alien symbiote. While it initially appears to be nothing more than a sleek black suit, Peter eventually discovers that it's actually a living organism known as Venom.
If Spider-Man really is heading toward Battleworld after the events of Brand New Day, Marvel has the perfect opportunity to adapt one of the character's most famous comic storylines. The post-credits scene doesn't confirm that the symbiote will appear when Peter arrives at his destination, but it certainly keeps the possibility very much alive.
Could ‘Brand New Day’ Be Setting Up A Miles Morales Story?
Since the post-credits scene doesn't actually tell us where Peter has gone, his trip into space could lead us to Miles Morales, whose existence in the MCU was hinted at in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) when Aaron Davis (Donald Glover) mentioned his nephew. But comic readers will know that Miles wasn't always part of Marvel's primary continuity.
He originally lived in the Ultimate Universe before eventually joining Earth-616 after the events of 2015's Secret Wars. Rather than receiving a completely new origin story, Miles became one of the characters carried into Marvel's rebuilt universe after reality was rewritten. That same approach could work for the MCU.
Since Peter Parker remains the franchise's main Spider-Man, Miles' debut would require the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) movie to reset reality in a similar way to the comics. That way we would get a natural introduction to Miles without forcing another full origin story into a timeline and character roster that's already pretty stacked.
Peter Is Probably Heading To ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’
The Brand New Day post-credits scene lines up perfectly with where the MCU appears to be heading because Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to adapt elements of Jonathan Hickman's 2015 Secret Wars. The comic series begins with the complete collapse of the multiverse through a series of incursions. Instead of allowing every universe to be destroyed, Doctor Doom decides to save it.
With a little help from Doctor Stephen Strange, Doom steals the Beyonders' power and creates Battleworld, a single patchwork planet stitched together from the surviving fragments of countless realities. As the self-proclaimed God Emperor Doom, he rules over this new world until the surviving heroes eventually challenge him and Reed Richards restores reality.
The first Avengers: Doomsday (2026) trailer already appears to be pointing in that direction. While Marvel hasn't revealed the full story, the footage strongly hints at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom embracing the God Emperor Doom role. If that's Peter's destination, the post-credits scene is simply about showing us that Spider-Man is being pulled into the MCU's biggest event yet.
