Spider-Man Vs. Hulk Only Happened One Time On-Screen - And It Lasted A Minute
The second Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) trailer has leaked audio that teases a long-awaited fight between the titular hero and the savage version of the Hulk. A battle between them feels like it’s happened time and again, but the only real fight took place in the Ultimate Spider-Man (2012) cartoon, available on Disney+.
With that one battle, it’s enough to justify an exploration of the unspoken feud between those two characters and how they’ve always almost fought. Fans want to see the feud blow up in epic proportions, but if it does, will the end result in the Marvel Cinematic Universe be what we want?
Spidey And Hulk ”Fought” In ’Ultimate Spider-Man’
In Ultimate Spider-Man Season 1, Episode 7, ”Exclusive,” the entire episode is showcased from Mary-Jane’s POV and turns it into a found-footage story where Spider-Man tries to stop the Hulk. The POV gives the Hulk a more gargantuan scope, and while it shows him rampaging, he’s actually taking on an invisible enemy.
Spidey tries to stop him at first, but it doesn’t go far. He even tries to noogie the Green Goliath, but the Hulk is stronger and tosses him aside. They eventually team up to stop the enemy, but it is a fun exchange of power while it lasts. This is technically one of the rare fights where both of the heroes fight at their base level, but not enough to leave a mark.
Spidey’s Next Fight With The Hulk Is One Of Many In Media
Spider-Man may be taking on the Hulk in live-action for the first time, but there are other instances beyond one Ultimate Spider-Man episode where they face off. Granted, they are brief and barely count as a fight. In Marvel Comics, The Amazing Spider-Man #328 sees Spidey, with the powers of Captain Universe, punch the Grey Hulk into space. Then, in 1984, there was an attempt at a live-action TV version of the characters' crossover, but that also never happened.
Since then, Spidey and the Hulk have interacted in another Ultimate Spider-Man episode, “The Incredible Spider-Hulk,” where they body-swap. Aside from that, there are only small interactions in Avengers Assemble (2013) and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (2013). The only major thing to truly take away from it all is that a fight has been teased and brewing for decades and still needs to happen.
What Could A Hulk/Spider-Man Battle In The MCU Mean For The Green Goliath?
With the rumor mill sparking the possibility of a Hulk and Spider-Man fight happening in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it raises more than a few questions about how that battle could go, especially with big changes happening for both characters. More than that, it’s a matter of wondering how a fight with them could affect the Hulk, who has been handled questionably in the MCU for some time.
For Spider-Man, he’s going through a change in Brand New Day that is setting up a massive power boost that includes, but is not limited to, organic webbing. With him having a greater hold on his powers, it also alludes to the chance that he could hold his own against the Hulk much better than in Ultimate Spider-Man and maybe even force him to take a pause.
As for the Hulk, who hasn’t been savage since the start of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), it is a big return for the character and could hopefully fix the fact that the MCU has never properly shown his strength and rage since 2012. No matter what, it’s a chance to either define the Hulk as someone not to mess with or another moment in the MCU where he’s not the strongest there is.
