In truth, Bridgerton (2020) has broken us a little with how it's deviated from the book orders, making us question if other romance anthologies will follow in its footsteps. The latest to force us back into this pondering state is Off Campus (2026), which just debuted all eight episodes of its first season on Prime Video. While we don't have any confirmation about which Elle Kennedy book the sophomore season's A-plot will follow, there are two options in which the narratives can still be great, so long as they stay true to the characters.

In addition, and perhaps more importantly, the series' approach to its ensemble cast allows it to stand out in an admirable light from other romance series, which makes it easy to switch around the order in a manner that makes sense for the tropes as well. Whether it'll be Logan or Dean, we're bound to find out soon, but here's why both stories make plenty of sense for Off Campus Season 2.

'Off Campus' Season 1 Gives Allie And Dean A Headstart On Their Love Story

Dean De Laurentis in Off Campus Season 2

Fans will be surprised to learn just how quickly Off Campus begins to tease Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie Hayes' (Mika Abdalla) story from the third book in the series, The Score. And frankly, it works organically when both men need to work hard to prove they're worthy of these women because groveling requires time and effort. Part of the reason it's easy for us to believe in character development in the books is that we get a ton of pining through internal monologue, but with the absence of that on the show, we need to see it.

We need to understand the depth to which Dean is so far gone for Allie that the mere thought of another woman isn't even something he can exercise. By the end of Off Campus Season 1, he's already more than halfway there. Allie isn't just a one-night stand for him; he wants more time with her. He wants her however he can have her, proving by the finale that he's willing to fight for them. Interestingly, though, Allie isn't ready for Dean—and it's entirely understandable why. Her breakup with Sean is still looming over her, and as we learn in the last few seconds of the season, the guy she hooked up with is Hunter Davenport, making everything between her and Dean twice as complicated.

That said, if Off Campus Season 2 gives Dean and Allie the primary spot as the leading couple, we've got enough groundwork in Season 1 to ensure that their arc not only feels believable but that it's earned. It could also give non-book readers the extra push to binge the stories at once as opposed to pacing themselves with them.

Pushing Logan And Grace's Story Could Prolong The Yearning And Deliver A Meatier Second-Chance Romance

John Logan in Off Campus

There are very few tropes I love as deeply as second chance. Whether it's two people actively getting together then breaking up, a marriage in crisis, or, in the case of John Logan and Grace Ivers—an almost, a mistake—I'll gobble it up and leave no crumbs. While Grace doesn't physically appear in Off Campus Season 1, we have India Fowler's casting confirmed through an official video shared with Antonio Cipriano. There, he asks her to join him for Season 2, using "come do Season 2 with me" as his exact words.

Now, this could be confirmation of their season properly following the book order and adapting the events of The Mistake, or it could mean we're getting the beginning stages of it. Because, naturally, not every book detail will make it onto the show, and if we do have some sort of different approach to them, it could make Logan's yearning twice as evocative. It could give him the space not only to grovel, but to deal with the demons he's already battling in Season 1 by often carrying far more than he can handle as everyone's go-to guy in the shadows.

In addition, no matter how Off Campus Season 2 plays out, based on the structure of Season 1, we can be certain of the fact that both these couples will get ample room to shine in a manner that serves their characters as well as the relationships. The most impressive detail in the show—and as showrunner Louisa Levy confirmed on iHeartRadioCA—these characters aren't going anywhere. Just because we've wrapped up a majority of The Deal in Season 1, doesn't mean we'll be losing Belmont Cameli's Garrett and Ella Bright's Hannah in the show.

The same logic can be applied to the core hockey players because each of their roles in the overarching narrative is significant to the world-building. The show is a love letter to found families as much as it's an anthology romance, and whichever route the season takes, we can be certain of the fact that we'll get yearning in spades.
