Who Will Die In 'From' Season 4? Every Character's Chance Of Survival, Ranked
From chronicles the lives of a group of people who have been trapped in a creepy town that is almost impossible to escape. Although it looks pretty ordinary during the day, every night without exception, everyone must hide from zombie-like creatures that emerge from the surrounding forest to taunt and murder the terrified residents.
That's been the hook since Season 1. With Season 4 currently streaming on MGM+, the show feels more dangerous than ever. The mythology has expanded, although the answers still feel just out of reach, and the constant threat of death never really fades into the background. There are plenty of familiar faces (like Fatima, Ellis, and Kristi) who feel essential to the plot.
But if I'm being perfectly honest, the story can move forward without them. So this list focuses on the characters that are much closer to the essence of the story, be it through their mystery-solving capabilities or leadership skills. Since Jim Matthews (Eion Bailey) may already be out of the equation, here's a look at the main characters, ranked from least likely to die in Season 4 to most likely.
Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau)
Boyd exists at the center of From in a way that the show hasn't really tried to disguise. From the moment he arrived in town, he became the person others look to when things fall apart, which happens often enough that the role never really goes away. His decisions are always for the betterment of the group, even when they don't agree with him. And the story often follows his perspective.
If Boyd were to die in Season 4, it would force the show to rebuild its structure immediately. While Boyd has been positioning Kenny (Ricky He) to take over as leader, he would definitely not be able to step into that space without changing the tone of the series. That would feel more like an endgame decision than something the show is ready to explore right now, which is why he ranks as the least likely to die.
Victor Kavanaugh (Scott McCord)
Victor remains one of the most essential characters in From, largely because of what he represents rather than what he actively does. He is a living connection to the town's past, having been there since he was a child. So even when he struggles to articulate what he knows, the fragments he provides (about things like the faraway trees) continue to have a direct impact on the story.
If Victor were to die, the show would lose a direct link to its own history. That doesn't mean the mystery would disappear, but it would remove important context that the series still relies on. Storywise, his absence would be felt in the moment, and there would be a lot of things the show can't explain without him. That makes his survival necessary—at least for now.
Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno)
Tabitha has become an essential part of the series ever since the story started to move beyond the physical boundaries of the town. Since she's the only one who managed to escape (albeit briefly), her experience opened up new possibilities for what From is willing to explore, particularly when it comes to how the outside world intersects with everything happening inside.
The revelation that Tabitha lived multiple lives in the town also changes the way the entire story is framed. She's been there before. She tried to fix things before and failed every time. If Tabitha were to die, the show would lose one of its current narrative directions. As it stands, she is also the only surviving parent of Julie (Hannah Cheramy) and Ethan (Simon Webster). It seems unlikely that the show would orphan the kids.
Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy)
Julie has grown up in a way that is easy to miss if you are not paying close attention. She started out as an angsty teen who was simply reacting to the chaos around her. But over time, she became a more integral part of the story. In Season 3, after being trapped in a trance-like state, Julie developed the ability to move through time.
Julie's newfound ability opens up an entirely different way of understanding how the town operates, which suggests a larger role for Julie in the story moving forward. The show tends to let those arcs develop before it disrupts them, which makes her survival more likely at this stage. If she were to die, it would also be the third death to hit the Matthews family, which would be unnecessarily cruel.
Jade Herrera (David Alpay)
Jade occupies an interesting space in From because he is one of the few characters who is actively trying to understand the logic behind the town rather than simply reacting to it. Along with Tabitha, Jade has also lived in the town before. In a past life as a couple, they shared a daughter who was meant to be sacrificed (along with the other kids in the town) so the original residents could gain immortality.
But when Jade and Tabitha changed their minds and tried to stop it, their daughter still perished. The other parents of the sacrificed children became the killer monsters. That would make Jade essential to whatever resolution the story is building toward, since he and Tabitha are probably the only people capable of breaking the cycle. So his death is likely not on the cards—yet.
Donna Raines (Elizabeth Saunders)
Donna has served as a consistent authority figure (particularly within Colony House), where her leadership style contrasts with Boyd's more measured approach. But that doesn't mean she doesn't run a tight ship. She makes difficult decisions quickly, and the show relies on her to keep certain parts of the community functioning.
If Donna were to die, the result would be instability within Colony House. The structure she maintains would break down, forcing other characters to step in. The show has already hinted at those fractures, which suggests it could absorb her loss. Since she has no links to the town's history and no abilities (like Julie), Donna's days could be numbered, but not without some major consequences.
Sara Myers (Avery Konrad)
Sara's connection to the voices (the same ones that told her killing Ethan was the only way to escape) made her feel like a central character early on. Her actions affected everyone, and for a time, she seemed like the clearest link to whatever is controlling the town. Since then, her connection to the town and all its creepiness has become less exclusive.
Other characters (Tabitha, Jade, and Julie) have started to experience similar phenomena, which spread the narrative more evenly across the group. So Sara, who now lives with a sense of unease because none of the residents truly trusts her, exists on the edges of the main story. If she were to die, it would still be a big deal, but the show has already adapted beyond needing her as a conduit, which makes her death the most likely going forward.
