The concept of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) turning 40 years old is absolutely wild to me because the '80s still feel like they're just 20 years into the past. (Most millennials relate because the concept of time has been completely blurred for us. Is anything even linear?) But that's so far from the case, and most John Hughes movies having big anniversaries are proof of this fact. For so many of us, Ferris Bueller's Day Off was on a constant rotation, and we probably watched it over and over again while also watching other films the cast was in.

A lot of people aren't acting today, or they have even bigger roles than they did in the film, like Charlie Sheen, but the main cast is still around here and there with significant roles and guest appearances in popular productions. Here's where you can catch the cast of Ferris Bueller's Day Off today, with movies and TV series streaming on Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.

Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller

Matthew Broderick is naturally the face we all associate with the movie, and it's also his biggest role to date. While Broderick has starred in a number of different movies and TV shows like War Games (1983), The Producers (2005), The Stepford Wives (2004), and more, the titular role of Ferris Bueller is, and will likely always be, his most iconic.

But Broderick is also the voice of Simba in The Lion King (1994) and The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, making the older lion's voice much hotter than it needs to be. (I'm not wrong here. I dare you to rewatch and tell me that Simba doesn't sound like a really hot dad in the sequel.) Broderick is likely to pop up in a number of properties nowadays, including a role as himself in Only Murders in the Building (2021).

One to watch: If you love Disney movies, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is the sequel worth rewatching over and over again. For the music, the voice acting, and the narrative.

Alan Ruck as Cameron Frye

Like Broderick, Alan Ruck has gone on to do plenty since Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Most famously, his latest role is as Connor Roy in Succession (2018). Ruck has made himself known as an incredible actor whose range is both familiar and refreshing in every role he's in.

Interestingly, when we see his brief appearance in People We Meet on Vacation (2026), there are pieces of Cameron Frye in the role that make it feel extra nostalgic as a rom-com. He has also guest-starred in a few episodes of the latest Bill Lawrence comedy, Rooster (2026), and, of course, there's also one of his biggest earlier roles, Spin City (1996).

One to watch: If you love heavy familial shows like The Bear (2022), watch Succession for a wild ride, and also one of the best episodes on TV that Ruck's character is involved in through "Connor's Wedding."

Jennifer Grey as Jeanie Bueller

Jennifer Grey is also a name many of us know well, and mostly because of her inimitable role in Dirty Dancing (1987), a movie that was almost integral for girls and the way we grew up. But Grey has been in a number of things since, like A Real Pain (2025), Red Oaks (2014), It's Like, You Know... (1999), and more.

Grey's incredible range gives us nuanced women in every role she's in and allows for each of her characters to stand out in a remarkable way, ensuring that they're someone we remember. Because really, even if you've never seen Dirty Dancing, you likely know about it, and are maybe even searching for it because of how heavily Off Campus (2026) references it in its debut season.

One to watch: If you love sweeping love stories like Moulin Rouge! (2001), be sure to watch Dirty Dancing for Grey and the late Patrick Swayze's electric chemistry.

Cindy Pickett as Katie Bueller

Cindy Pickett is the kind of actor who's been in so many movies and TV shows that even when she has a single guest-starring role, chances are you've seen her in something. Most famously, after her role as Katie Bueller, she starred as Dr. Carol Novino in St. Elsewhere (1982), with fifty episodes under her belt during the show's run.

Pickett doesn't exactly have large roles, but whatever she does deliver remains memorable to some degree, ensuring that the casting directors know what they're doing by adding her to the property. Still, while most of her most famous roles are '90s films, there's always a great joy in going back to that era.

One to watch: If you love medical dramas like ER (1994), try St. Elsewhere for a nuanced approach to the genre.

Lyman Ward as Tom Bueller

Fun fact: Lyman Ward was married to Cindy Pickett, so it makes the Ferris Bueller's Day Off cast a bit more hilarious when you think of this web. But like many of the actors on this list, Ward has done plenty, both in movies and TV series, to showcase his range as an actor and make a name for himself.

Films like Not Another Teen Movie (2001) and Independence Day (1996) are some of his biggest movies to date, giving us two different things to check out after Ferris Bueller. He hasn't been in much recently; yet again, some of the older films are the ones that are most compelling to revisit for exceptional performances and practical effects.

One to watch: If you love disaster movies like Armageddon (1998) but have somehow slept on Independence Day, please rectify this immediately.

Mia Sara as Sloane Peterson

Mia Sara hasn't done too much since her role as Sloane Peterson in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, but she's still been in enough to give us great performances in the few roles we've seen her in. Recently, she starred as Sarah Krantz in The Life of Chuck (2025), and years before, she starred in the Birds of Prey (2002) series as Harley Quinn.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off will likely always be one of the biggest roles she's known for. Her minor roles in movies like A Stranger Among Us (1992) and Timecop (1994) are prominent, but nothing too big, sadly for the fans who want to see more of her.

One to watch: If you love heartwarming stories about life and legacy, check out The Life of Chuck for all the heart and solid performances.

After high school slacker Ferris Bueller successfully fakes an illness in order to skip school for the day, he goes on a series of adventures throughout Chicago with his girlfriend Sloane and best friend Cameron, all the while trying to outwit his wily school principal and fed-up sister.
