7 Disney Sequels & Reboots Coming To Theaters In 2027 & 2028
Disney's yearly D23 celebration delivered plenty of information for fans to process and get excited about. From the widely anticipated reveal of the new X-Men cast to Star Wars drops on Ahsoka (2023) Season 2 and Ryan Gosling's Starfighter (2027), we got news in spades. We have first looks, announcements, fun videos, and a lot of confirmation dates that could also change over the years because it's happened before.
We even got news that The Princess Diaries 3 is still happening, and the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023) Season 3 teaser-trailer left us in shambles. In the next two years, Disney and Pixar will be loaded with sequels and reboots to look forward to.
February 5, 2027
Judging by the brief teaser, this adventure will take Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the Herd into the Lost World. The setting was first introduced to fans in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) and brought back once more in The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022).
Through thoughtful metaphors, the Ice Age films tell a compelling story about the world that people should be hearing despite the timeline they're set in. And given today's climate and the horrific changes we've gone through on Earth, it's easy to hope that Ice Age: Boiling Point could give us some sort of parallel to the Earth heating up that'll be both entertaining and informative.

The Frozen films are some of Disney's highest-grossing movies, so it isn't shocking that we're getting Frozen 3 soon. Surely at some point, a fourth and fifth will be announced, too. But interestingly, what differentiates the third from what we've had in Frozen (2013) and Frozen 2 (2019) is the fact that we might actually get a bigger villain this time around.
There are teases of the Snow Queen coming into the equation, and with everything that Elsa's gone through with her powers, it'll be riveting to see how they're tested with her presence. However, Once Upon a Time (2011) Season 4 did such an excellent job with this storyline that there's almost a lot more riding on Frozen 3 to top it.
2027 (TBA)
We're getting so many sequels from the '90s and early aughts that at this point, it's not a matter of if but when. With long-anticipated movies like Practical Magic 2 (2026) set to release this year, and a Clueless (1995) sequel series announced, it was inevitable that we'd also get Romy and Michelle 2. Thankfully, Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow will be reprising their roles, making it even more exciting when they took to the D23 stage to announce it.
We don't have full details on the film's plot, but it'll presumably take place 30 years after the original, like the current timeline of events. The actresses also hinted at the detail that this sequel might feature a quest to find true love, and as a romance fan, I've never been more enthusiastic about that detail.

No, we don't need a live-action remake of every beloved animated feature, but we're getting them, so we might as well accept it. Plus, as someone who's a fan of Milo Manheim from the Zombies (2018) movies, I'm 100% here to hear him sing! Not to mention that in the brief video recorded by Manheim and Teagan Croft, they tell us they've been filming on location, which is something we'll always take over the excess use of CGI.
The live-action adaptation of Tangled also has Kathryn Hahn attached to it as Mother Gothel and Caitríona Balfe as Queen Arianna, and if these aren't perfect casting choices, then I don't know what is. There's a lot to be psyched about with this one.

With how well the live-action Lilo & Stitch (2025) did in theaters, it's not surprising that Disney is trying to release Lilo & Stitch 2 shortly after. Like with most of these announcements, we don't have much information about it quite yet, other than the fact that we'll be meeting Stitch's girlfriend, Experiment 624, aka Angel.
And while viewers might be expecting a movie similar to Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005), Angel's involvement changes that plot a bit, considering people don't meet her until the second season of Lilo & Stitch: The Series (2003). Still, because the live-action was relatively decent, it'll be fun to see what the sequel will be like and how many plot liberties it could take.

The Incredibles (2004) was a sensational origin story, and Incredibles 2 (2018) was an even more epic sequel. So when it comes to this family of superheroes, it's easy to trust that Pixar will deliver another hit in Incredibles 3.
While the plot is being kept under wraps, we do know that the third installment will shift its focus more onto the kids, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack. It'll be an interesting transition considering the second dabbled more with the parents and raising an infant. That said, with the kids now being a bit older, there's no telling what type of shenanigans we can possibly get. Either way, there's certainly reason to be excited about it.

Pixar's Coco (2017) is one of the most distinctive movies that's ever been released, so the thought of another one is likely making die-hard fans nervous. But with the success of sequels like Zootopia 2 (2025) and Inside Out 2 (2024) in recent years, Disney has a pretty decent track record where sequels are concerned. And the concept art for this one is already so stunning that it's easy to get pumped for it.
We don't have much information on the plot details yet, but we have confirmation that Benjamin Bratt will return to reprise the role of Ernesto de la Cruz. (Bring on the memes of Poe Dameron saying "Somehow Palpatine returned," only here it's Ernesto de La Cruz.) Either way, Coco 2 is sure to be gorgeous and thoughtful, given the time we're taking to get there.
