The Biggest Netflix Shows Coming Back This August (& Everything You Need To Remember)
There is so much TV to watch these days that it’s impossible to keep up with every single show, let alone remember all the details of them. Sometimes I get stuck trying to keep up with all the new and buzzy streaming shows that I end up falling behind on all of them. When I do finally catch up, there can be months, if not years, between new seasons. So, then when the show does finally come back, I have to make the time for a rewatch or read up on where things ended. If you’ve also been there with your favorite shows, you are not alone.
You may even be feeling a bit of that with some of Netflix’s upcoming shows (I know I am). I love Outer Banks (2020). I’ve seen that first season a few times. Still, I can’t believe it’s been almost two years since Season 4 released on Netflix. That’s absolutely mind-boggling.
If you’re looking for a refresher on it and some of the streamer’s other August 2026 releases, this is the list for you. It should be a good reminder of where the characters were at the end of their respective show’s most recent season and where they will likely be at the start of the next.
One Hundred Years of Solitude, an adaptation of García Márquez’s magical realism bestseller, is set to return for its final season on Wednesday, August 5. The first season dropped in December 2025, so there have been eight months between releases. That’s not as much time as other Netflix shows on this list, but it’s still a significant amount of time when there are so many developments with the Buendía family in Season 1. It may be best to stick with a few of the larger beats that will be key to remember heading into the second season.
For example, José Arcadio (Édgar Vittorino) is murdered in his home, and the person who did it is suspected to be an angry farmer within his village. José Arcadio Buendía (Diego Vásquez) dies as a rather isolated, old man, and his loss rocks Macondo. Aureliano’s (Eduardo de los Reyes) fate is a big question for the season finale. He survives a near-death experience to then potentially put Macondo through even more as he intends to reclaim it from the government.
One Hundred Years of Solitude’s cast also includes Claudio Cataño, Marco Antonio González, Susana Morales, and Marleyda Soto. It’s also worth noting that the final season has a unique release schedule, so double-check that so as not to miss when the series finale premieres.
My Life with the Walter Boys is back with more drama and romance in its third season on Thursday, August 6. The 10-episode season drops 11 months after Season 2 premiered in September 2025. Arguably one of the biggest things to remember heading into this season is that patriarch George Walter’s (Marc Blucas) fate is currently a mystery.
The last season finale sees Will (Johnny Link) tell Jackie Nikki Rodriguez) and Cole (Noah LaLonde) that something had happened to George. It’s unclear what exactly caused the medical emergency or if and how George will recover from it. I imagine that something like that will impact the entire Walter family.
It’s also worth mentioning that Will shows up to the house at the same time that Jackie finally tells Cole that she loves him. Mind you, this comes after a season where she secretly starts dating Cole’s brother, Alex (Ashby Gentry), again. It won’t help that Alex overhears this love confession, presumably extending this complicated love triangle into the third season. Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for Dylan (Kolton Stewart) and Kiley (Mya Lowe) after sharing their first kiss. My Life with the Walter Boys’ cast also includes Sarah Rafferty as Katherine Walter.
The workplace comedy Tires is set to return with its 12-episode third season on Thursday, August 13. That’s 11 months after its second season dropped in September 2025. The biggest question that this show asks every season is if the family business of the Valley Forge Automotive Center will make it. After the first season, Shane (Shane Gillis) and his cousin Will (Steve Gerben) make some changes that give the business a bit more to work with. However, even with deals and discounts to pull in clients, the place still struggles financially.
Things become even more complicated when Shane’s father, Phil (Thomas Hadden Church), reenters Shane’s life. He intends to repair his relationship with his son. Expectedly, that also comes with a newfound connection to this business. Phil buys the Valley Forge Automotive Center. Despite indications otherwise, Phil promises his son that he won’t sell the place, that he wants to help things get back on track.
So, the second season leaves Shane and Will in a familiar place, knowing that more things need to change for the business to stay afloat. Tires also stars Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias.
My most-anticipated watch on this list is Outer Banks, which is returning for its fifth and final season on Thursday, August 20. I’m so intrigued to see how this show wraps up all of these characters and their stories after all these adventures over the last six years. Also, since Netflix split Season 4 into two parts, I think fans will be pleased to know that Outer Banks Season 5 will drop all 10 episodes at once. By the time it drops, it will have been an absolutely wild one year and nine months since Season 4 Part 2 in November 2024.
That season ended with one of the most shocking twists that will change this show forever. JJ (Rudy Pankow) died at the hands of his biological father, Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane). The latter steals the season’s treasure, the Blue Crown, from JJ before fatally stabbing him. The Pogues’ quest for revenge is a paramount mission in the final season.
However, there are other things to remember, like Sarah (Madelyn Cline) being pregnant, Pope (Jonathan Daviss) killing someone for the first time to avenge Terrance (Terence Rosemore) and save Cleo (Carlacia Grant), and the tease of a redemption arc for Rafe (Drew Starkey). Outer Banks also stars Chase Stokes and Madison Bailey.
As a fan of Leanne Morgan’s stand-up and the first season, I am excited that a second season of Leanne is right around the corner. The first season made me nostalgic for multi-camera sitcoms like Reba (2001). It debuted in July 2025. That means that this 10-episode second season, down from 16 episodes in Season 1, will release one year and one month after Season 1. That’s right! Leanne Season 2 premieres on Thursday, August 27.
Alongside Morgan, the show stars Ryan Stiles, Kristen Johnston, Graham Rogers, Hannah Pilkes, and more. As of writing this, there isn’t much information about the second season, but I imagine it will be more of what worked in the first season and then some.
Leanne’s debut season ended with the titular character taking her first weekend trip with her boyfriend and FBI agent, Andrew (Tim Daly). Their hesitations about spending so much one-on-one time with one another are cut short because Leanne learns that her daughter-in-law Nora (Annie Gonzalez) is in labor. When she returns home to welcome her grandchild, she also learns that her ex-husband, Bill (Stiles), is apologetic about his behavior after experiencing a panic attack that felt like a heart attack. The show doesn’t tease that Leane will get back together with Bill as much as it shows her as grateful for the family and support she has in this new chapter of her life.
