The JustWatch Heat Index: Every TV Show & Movie Spiking This Week - And Why (Updated 14 May, 2026)
We like to keep our finger on the pulse here at JustWatch, so we’ll always have one eye on the hottest movies and TV shows each week.
Knowing what’s popular on Netflix or any single streaming service is simply not enough. We need to know what’s popping off on every platform and in cinemas, and that kind of information can be handy when it comes to advising you, the readers, on what to watch.
The JustWatch Heat Index is the definitive roundup of trending film and TV titles each week, so let’s take a look at the big movers and shakers right now, and what’s worth watching.
The 10 Most Popular TV Shows This Week
For the first time in weeks, we see The Pitt drop off the top spot. But the hospital drama is still going strong in second place right now.
Ongoing shows like FROM, Euphoria, and The Boys are still holding firm as they all ramp up the tension heading into their final few episodes. Meanwhile, newcomer Widow’s Bay rises through the chart and onto the podium this week.

The 10 Most Popular Movies This Week
There is just no shifting Apex at the moment as the Netflix movie retains second place this week. Elsewhere, The Devil Wears Prada is still going strong in the top three as its successor tears up theatres across the globe.
Intense flicks One Battle After Another and Crime 101 are still in the top 10 for yet another week, while The Running Man remake also hangs around, having found its way into the charts last week. Clearly, you folks at home are hungry for action-thrillers.

New shows on Netflix always seem to generate a lot of buzz, and Legends is no different. It’s not surprising, though, given it’s got a stellar cast including Steve Coogan and Tom Burke, who are both on top form in this thrilling crime drama.
If you like shows like Narcos and Sons of Anarchy, you’ll appreciate the high-stakes, dangerous elements of this show, but it’s got a decidedly more British, nuanced feel, too. There are only six episodes, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll fly through them and want more straight away.
For something far sillier and very fun, you should check out Amandaland. The sitcom is back for its second season, and you can catch all six of those new episodes on BBC iPlayer. If you enjoy stories centred around larger-than-life characters putting themselves into awkward, cringeworthy situations – like The Office or Peep Show – you’ll find Amanda’s antics absolutely hilarious.
The new season sees the titular character (played brilliantly by Lucy Punch) try her hand at a careers talk in a school, enjoying the ambience of a hipster coffee shop, and getting her daughter ready for prom; as you may have guessed, all of those situations do not end well, but that’s all part of the fun for us at home.
Another very funny TV show is coming to an end soon, and that’s likely why Hacks has found its way into our chart this week. The fifth and final season is finally here, and you can watch it all on NOW TV.
If you haven’t seen it before, get ready to become obsessed with Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder’s exceptional chemistry, adding charm and a real edge to this dramedy. While the story is very different, I’d say Hacks would be ideal for anyone missing Shrinking. The similarities – an old head and a younger mentor clashing while still learning from one another – are irresistible.
Send Help storms to the top of the JustWatch movie chart this week, and rightly so. Sam Raimi is a master at blending horror with dark comedy, and he excels himself with this latest effort.
Granted, a lot of the credit here should go to Rachel McAdams, who is on top form in this desert island survival flick, as is Dylan O’Brien, who plays the antagonist she is stranded with. This is a very universally appealing film – I watched it with my partner, and we both had a lot of fun. You can find Send Help on Disney+ now.
Arriving on Prime Video recently, it’s nice to see The Long Walk has caught your attention at home. It’s a fascinating Stephen King adaptation that tackles themes of social hierarchy, greed, and the power of the human spirit, all told through a very violent, dystopian lens.
Two of my favourite young actors star in this film – Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson – and it’s their chemistry and brotherhood that imbues the story with heart and purpose. You might think that watching a bunch of guys walking for just under two hours would be boring, but it’s far from it!
I’m a sucker for weird films that go to places we’ve never, or rarely, seen before. Remarkably Bright Creatures archives this with the story of a grieving woman who befriends an intuitive octopus at the aquarium where she works.
With Sally Field and Lewis Pullman starring, this was always going to be a compelling watch, but the sense of mystery and surrealism thrown in really elevates this drama beyond the norm. It’s new to Netflix, and I have a feeling this is the kind of film that will get people talking about what they’ve seen once the credits roll.
