HBO’s The White Lotus is one of the most popular shows on TV right now, and there’s another instalment on the way.
Each season of The White Lotus takes place at a luxury spot owned by the fictional hospitality brand of the same name, following the exploits of both the guests and the employees. While the general premise of the show has remained consistent, The White Lotus features a (mostly) different cast and standalone story every season — and with 16 Emmy wins, anticipation for the next excursion is high.
With a standout cast, a stellar reputation, and Mike White at the helm, The White Lotus Season 4 looks set to be another hit. If you just can’t wait for it to come out, here’s a guide on everything you need to know before the show finally drops.
Who Is In The White Lotus Season 4?
The White Lotus cast is, once again, pretty stacked. While Helena Bonham-Carter was initially set to play a role, she ultimately ended up leaving the production. Still, where one door closes, another one opens, with Laura Dern coming on board to replace her.
Alongside Dern, other cast members joining Season 4 of the razor-sharp satire are big names like Steve Coogan, Heather Graham, Ben Kingsley, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Vincent Cassel, Kumail Nanjiani, Max Greenfield, and Max Minghella.
You’ll also see the following actors involved: Ben Schnetzer, Alexander Ludwig, AJ Michalka, Marissa Long, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Tobias Santelmann, Frida Gustavsson, Laura Smet, Sandra Bernhard, Ari Graynor, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Chloe Bennet, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, and Pekka Strang.
Obviously, some of these names are bigger than others, but given The White Lotus’ track record, the lesser-known cast members may well be on the cusp of being catapulted into stardom.
What Is The White Lotus Season 4’s Plot and Setting?
The premise of The White Lotus Season 4 involves two warring film teams whose movies are both set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. These rivals are based at two different hotels: the White Lotus Cannes and the White Lotus du Cap.
Speaking at the Canneseries Festival in April, producer David Bernard said (via Variety): “When we located the show at the Cannes Film Festival specifically, this idea of fame popped up. Who has the world’s attention, who are the people that can grab the world’s attention, who are the plus-ones in a relationship, who’s the person that has that power — and how that shapes a dynamic.”
He went on to add that this instalment of the show will chart these characters’ journeys as they experience “the ups and downs of the festival and the pain of being here and the love and excitement of being here.”
As for the setting itself, Variety reported that the series would be filmed across Paris and the French Riviera. In terms of interiors, it is thought that The White Lotus would be filmed in hotels like the Château de la Messardière, the Hôtel Martinez, and the Hôtel Lutetia, all based in Paris. It was also said that there would be filming in Parisian studios along with the lush French Riviera.
As of mid-April, production has begun on the new season of The White Lotus, so they may well be filming in these locations as we speak.
The show’s Cannes scenes will start filming pretty soon now that the real-life festival has wrapped up for the year. It’ll take advantage of the Palais des Festivals and the red carpet in order to provide the basis for them to build a believable replica of the festival.
When Will The White Lotus Season 4 Be Released?
Given that filming only recently started, we have to leave time for post-production, too. In all likelihood, we will be seeing this coming season sometime in 2027.
There’s no real consistency with the release of previous seasons to go on, either, with Season 1 airing in July, Season 2 in October, and the third releasing in February of 2025.
Still, there are plenty of other shows like The White Lotus out there to fill your time, or, with HBO now having its own streaming service in the UK, it is easier than ever to stream the hit show.
