2026 has been a surprisingly quiet year thus far for Florence Pugh, but in the last three months of the year, she is set to take Hollywood — and audiences — by storm once more.

Earlier this summer, she made a cameo appearance as Yelena Belova in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and returns once again this Christmas in Avengers: Doomsday as Avengers old and new, as well as The X-Men team up to stop Doctor Doom.

Before that, she returns to the small screen as Cathy Ames in the new Netflix adaptation of East of Eden, created by Zoe Kazan, and co-starring Christopher Abbott and Mike Faist.

Coming up soon, she also has a return to Arrakis, starring roles in two book adaptations, and a sci-fi-leaning rom-com opposite Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg. Here, we take a closer look at all the upcoming Florence Pugh movies.

Avengers: Doomsday

“Mark my words… We are going to need a miracle,” announces Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer. The miracle needed is to either prevent incursions due to the MCU multiverse collapsing, defeat Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.), or, more likely, both.

After the events of Thunderbolts*, Yelena (Pugh) now leads the New Avengers and has spotted the Fantastic Four ship arriving on Earth-616 from Earth-828, as well as her cameo in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Plot details are heavily under wraps, but new scenes are suggesting incursions on a massive scale, and Doom potentially using them to create Battleworld, the one remaining Earth created in his image. Released on December 16, 2026, this may end up being the biggest film of the year, unless...

Dune: Part Three

Florence Pugh in Dune Part III

Two days after the Avengers' next outing, Pugh has the privilege of being part of “Dunes-day” on both sides of the box-office battle, returning as Princess Irulan in the third film of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy, which will be the director’s final venture across Arrakis. After the events of Dune: Part Two, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) is now Emperor and has seized control of the Imperium. Married to Irulan in name only, the third film sees Paul and his true love, Chani (Zendaya), reunite after an apparent separation.

On the film, Pugh told The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that her favourite scene partner “rhymes with Bobert Bapithin”, of course hinting at Robert Pattinson, who plays villain Scytale in the film.

Avengers: Secret Wars

Florence Pugh as Yelena in Thunderbolts*

Jumping off from Doomsday, Secret Wars will be the “part two” of the gigantic story of the new Avengers films. Not much is known about it, especially before Doomsday has been released, but in the comics, Secret Wars tells of The Beyonder, a cosmic entity, who created Battleworld and teleports heroes and villains against their will to fight.

Rumours abound that in the film version, it will be Doctor Doom who creates Battleworld out of the ashes of the incursions happening in Doomsday, and because of that, there may be multiple casualties on all the remaining Earths. Will Yelena make it out alive? And if so, will she remember what once was? Answers coming on December 16th, and then we'll have to wait a whole year to find out more.

The Midnight Library

Florence Pugh in Midsommar

Earlier this year, Pugh was announced as the lead in The Midnight Library, the adaptation of the novel by acclaimed writer Matt Haig, for which Paramount Pictures secured the rights at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and will be directed by Garth Davis, filmmaker behind Lion and Foe.

Due at some point in 2027, Pugh will play Nora Seed, the protagonist of Haig’s book, who finds herself in an enchanted library that straddles life and death. The library’s shelves are filled with books that let her see the lives she could have lived, and, guided by a librarian, she can “try on” these other lives to see whether they would have been happier or more fulfilling than her own.

42.6 Years

Andy Samberg in Palm Springs

First announced in 2023, this sci-fi romantic comedy was set to be directed by Supergirl helmer Craig Gillespie from a script by Seth Reiss, which was on the Hollywood Black List in 2022. Since then, it has switched to Michael Schwartz behind the camera, with Andy Samberg as a man who attempts to reconnect with his girlfriend, 42.6 years after she was cryogenically frozen.

Annette Bening was cast as the said girlfriend, Ruthie, and when production started, Pugh joined the cast as young Ruthie in a supporting role. With Focus Features and Universal Pictures behind it, it is set for a 2027 release – and, after Palm Springs, can Samberg strike gold again with another unconventional rom-com?

Cassandra at the Wedding

Florence Pugh in East of Eden

Whilst doing press for East of Eden in recent weeks, word arrived that Pugh is set to star in an adaptation of Cassandra at the Wedding, the 1962 novel by Dorothy Baker.

The book follows Cassandra Edwards, a Berkeley graduate student who returns to her family’s ranch in the Sierra foothills for the wedding of her identical twin sister, Judith. Cassandra arrives determined to sabotage the marriage, but what unfolds is driven by the sisters’ intense, complicated, and deeply co-dependent bond.

Pugh will play both roles as the identical twin sisters. There's no release window yet, but she told Vanity Fair that the project is “totally terrifying but exciting” and “I do think there’s something really empowering about seeing a woman scream in the face of her destiny”.
