The original Addams Family television series aired in black and white for two seasons in the mid-1960s. This is where most fans were introduced to the classic lineup of characters, including Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and Lurch.  Over a decade after the original series ended, most of the cast reunited for the made-for-TV special Halloween with the New Addams Family. 

Then comes the 1991 Addams Family movie, a remake that is perhaps the most iconic adaptation of the franchise, featuring Raul Julia as Gomez and Anjelica Huston as Morticia. The film follows the family's attempts to reclaim their wealth while dealing with an impostor claiming to be long-lost Uncle Fester. Addams Family Values, the sequel to the 1991 film, further explores the eccentric family dynamics as Gomez and Morticia welcome a new baby.

The 1990s also witnessed a made-for-TV movie called Addams Family Reunion that features an entirely new cast, with Tim Curry as Gomez and Daryl Hannah as Morticia. Addams Family Reunion centers on the family attending a reunion, only to discover that they're stuck with a "normal" branch of the family. 

In the same decade, the TV reboot The New Addams Family ran for two seasons in the late 1990s. This series featured a fresh cast but stayed true to the humor and charm of the original, while introducing new storylines and antics for the family to get into. 

In 2019, the Addams Family returned to the big screen in an animated format. With voices by Oscar Isaac as Gomez and Charlize Theron as Morticia, The Addams Family movie offers a fresh, family-friendly take on the classic characters.  The sequel to the 2019 animated film, The Addams Family 2, follows the family as they embark on a road trip across the United States.

But perhaps the most successful Addams Family reboot is the Netflix original Wednesday that focuses on the Addams' teenage daughter, Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega). This show blends supernatural mystery and coming-of-age elements as Wednesday navigates her life at Nevermore Academy. Directed by Tim Burton, the series became a hit thanks to its dark humor and deep dive into Wednesday’s character while keeping the spirit of the Addams Family alive.
